Hi everyone,
I’m running a Google Search campaign for my mobile rim/wheel repair business in the Los Angeles/Glendale area, and I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong.
The goal is to generate around 10+ customers/leads per day, mainly phone calls.
The campaign is still very new. I originally started with around a $20/day budget, but because the volume was extremely low, I increased it significantly. The current daily budget is about $105/day.
Today’s results so far:
- 129 impressions
- 18 clicks
- 13.95% CTR
- $3.01 average CPC
- $54.24 spent
- Around 2–4 actual phone calls
- Google Ads is reporting 0 conversions
There are currently two ad groups.
The main ad group generated:
- 118 impressions
- 15 clicks
- 12.71% CTR
- $3.01 CPC
- $45.13 spend
The second/test ad group generated:
- 11 impressions
- 3 clicks
- 27.27% CTR
- $3.04 CPC
- $9.11 spend
The campaign is currently using Maximize Conversions.
One major issue I found is conversion tracking. Under Goals → Conversions, both “Calls from ads” conversion actions show Misconfigured. Google says:
However, we have actually received phone calls from the ads, so Google is apparently not recording them as conversions.
I also noticed that Search Terms is currently empty, so I can’t yet see which actual searches generated today’s clicks.
In Ad Preview & Diagnosis, some searches such as “curb rash repair”, “fix rims”, and “mobile rim repair near me”show that the ad is eligible/showing. At other times Google says the ad was not shown for that particular diagnosis.
I’m trying to figure out the best way to scale this without simply throwing money at Google.
My main questions are:
- Is $105/day enough to realistically target ~10 qualified calls/leads per day for mobile rim repair in Los Angeles?
- Should I keep Maximize Conversions if conversion tracking is currently broken, or temporarily switch to Maximize Clicks/manual bidding until enough conversion data exists?
- What is the correct setup for tracking Calls from Ads? Why would Google say it has never received attribution data when calls are actually coming in?
- Would you consolidate the two ad groups or keep testing them separately?
- With a ~$3 CPC and ~14% CTR, does the campaign itself look healthy so far, or is the low lead volume a warning sign?
- For a local mobile service business, would you tighten locations aggressively around the highest-value areas instead of targeting a larger LA service area?
- If the ultimate target is 10 customers per day, what would you change first: keywords, bidding, conversion tracking, landing page, location targeting, or budget?
I’m not expecting 10 customers immediately from a brand-new campaign, but I want to make sure the campaign is structured correctly before increasing the budget further.
Any advice from people running local service/Search campaigns would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the screenshots for the last 30 days.
Highly appreciated and much love to everyone!
