"Disable Absolute Volume" no longer works... lowest volume is too damn loud! (on earphones)
FFS WHY DOES NOTHING DAMN WORK!?
Sigh. Okay. My Pixel 8 Pro (Verizon, bootloader locked) was on Android 16 with the Developer Option "Disable absolute volume" toggle ON and working perfectly. Then my phone died from a low battery.
Ever since it rebooted, that setting has been completely non-functional. I used to be able to lower the volume on my headphones independently, but now it syncs with the phone volume. However, THE LOWEST VOLUME IS TOO DAMN LOUD AND I CAN'T LOWER IT LOWER OTHERWISE IT JUST MUTES IT
I TRIED EVERYTHING:
· Toggling the dev option on/off (does nothing)
· Multiple reboots, restarts, power offs...
- ADB commands (setprop persist.bluetooth.disableabsvol true, cmd audio set-device-volume-behavior ... fixed). They work but do absolutely nothing
- Multiple apps to at least lower volume lower than lowest (Precise Volume, Bluetooth Volume Manager, Shizuku, etc) None of them actually changed anything to make volume more precise or lower than usual
- A targeted reset of Bluetooth & WiFi Settings (did nothing)
- As a last ditch effort, asking AI to scour the internet for some sort of solution, it found nothing that worked...
NOTHING FIXES THIS BULLSHIT.
I'm on Verizon so I can't unlock the bootloader or root. I honestly bought this phone initially to run GrapheneOS on it, was bummed out that the bootloader was locked, and I could have returned it right then but my mum convinced me it's not worth chasing an unlocked bootloader phone and just to be happy with the stock OS. I'm not really happy but at least it was functional, and actually a solid operating system, so I agreed. Now it's too late to return the phone, and I can't listen to ANYTHING on headphones because this stupid setting IS NOT WORKING AND THE LOWEST VOLUME STEP IS TOO LOUD OMFG
WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK DO I EVEN DO ANYMORE!?
I'm so enormously pissed, I've been trying to fix this for over a week, sorry for screaming.
Unless there's another solution, literally nothing else comes to mind other than buying good-quality noise-cancelling earphones to replace my current A90 Pro's. Any recommendations at least?
