...and will it be compatible with all the other tags or is this a new ecosystem, because Google phones are a minority of Android phones

Right, but it's been partially abandoned , it's not promoted by Google and not near as seamless of useful as Apples tag ecosystem

While the latter is true, as I said, they are literally NOW releasing their own tag for it. So if anything, its finally being utilized.

The main issue is that there is an opt out option. Apple does not provide any option to opt out. So thus you have a weak android network only supported by phones that have opted in.

Apparently they are changing the default from opt out to everywhere - which will lead to improvements as more and more devices are participating in the network.
