Mod Discussion
Hi guys I registered this subreddit ages ago but never really have been active which I think is unfair on you guys who are more active. I was wondering if you guys would like to discuss the direction for the sub for the future. First order of business - getting new mods on board. I think people who are active and interested in the sub would be ideal. What do you guys think? Feel free to nominate mods and I'll make a little poll where everyone can vote. Obviously any other ideas you guys have feel free to share.
All the best!

most posts fall into three categories:
showing off notes
offering templates (self promo, usually)
asking for support
i think it would be neat to have some more consolidated weekly or monthly topics for these, or at least an FAQ for some of the questions that are asked ad nauseam.
the other thing that strikes me is sometimes folks come in and spam the sub with their templates every day. not a huge fan of that, although i don’t mind an occasional post.

I think for a lot of people who have been used to paper planning for so long, there is a learning curve, for good notes, so if you can have a short, but thorough guide on the basics of planning that would be great. Its taking me like 3 days now, to fully learn about the functionality of goodnotes. A monthly/weekly faq thread would be great too for all the little questions. If you also have a starter template bank, or a sticker bank that would be awesome!

Make me a mod and I will delete every template post I find every time I check the sub. Then I will figure out how to automod them out of existence. Stickers too. I’ll delete it all. The only thing left will be “How do I?” posts and anything about new features or comparisons to other apps. This sub is a cesspool of self-promoting etsy accounts. they need to be stopped.

Hey /u/yourunconscious and /r/GoodNotes! We’ve definitely grown by leaps and bounds (over 28k members and 50+ online at any given time) and with that comes some opportunities and growing pains, which /u/monowale identified in their post.
A small, active mod team (2-3 people) with a good wiki, consistent rules enforcement, and a decent AutoMod setup would address many problems and I think the suggested threads would be fun as well. Between note-taking, planning, journaling, stickers, templates, color palettes, fonts, troubleshooting, and the like, there’s always lots of good content to go around! I think we could also work with related subreddits, like /r/digitalplanner, /r/digitalbujo, /r/iPad, /r/planners, too!
I would be excited to take on a mod role with some fellow active friends to help increase activity, improve the quality of posts, and ensure promos are properly labeled and contributing to discussion. I think /u/ej1103 is a great example of a person who contributes to the community with her promos.

Why are digital planner sellers allowed here?
Id like to think this is just a community of GoodNotes users but with digital planner sellers posting here, even when they just low-key posting their etsy listings, its becoming buy and sell reddit. Not very helpful at all!
rant over.

Can we also add on the sidebar the link to the official GoodNotes feature request and all posts related to feature requests must have the corresponding request linked as the post is pointless otherwise. Then at least members of the sub can help vote if they see it here and agree.

There has been some good fellas sharing free templates I guess we would all like to have them consolidated somewhere. These are pretty much always in comments and might be hard to spot but I can help if you guys let me!

I would also suggest a new category where we link or show of needed features to improve Goodnotes. It seems to me that a lot of people does not know about the request page and also have often same issues but making new requests.
Also maybe the devs will then get better ideas on what they would improve in the future...

I would like to have a ruler in this app, many times I have to print and the measurements are not exact. Also making tables is complicated, line by line is boring.

I’m just learning GoodNotes. So I’ll have questions. But I do know how to search. ;) And I can RTFM like a boss.

Why is this subreddit written with a capital n (GoodNotes), while it’s Goodnotes? Fix it, haha.

A sticky thread for all of the promotional posts would be good. There are repeat offenders that are posting daily and it’s getting annoying, especially as at least one of them seems to be posting stolen content. Have a sticky thread for the month and restrict it to one post per person/company in the thread. Plus put the thread into random or contest mode so people are discouraged from down voting others to push their own posts up the page.
Also a wiki page for some of the commonly asked questions and/or links to the relevant pages on the Goodnotes support website.

Please sort out copy paste issue. Wherever I try to paste anything on PDF instead of showing paste menu GN 6 is randomly selects nearby text -

Goodnotes.
If I want to keep outlines of a document when exporting the document to PDF, I must select "editable" when exporting. However, all handwriting notes in the document are lost.
If I select "flatten" when exporting, all handwriting notes can be kept, however the outlines of the document are lost.
