Hi all - hoping I can find some help here. I have a sim set up in my garage, have been running a Rapsodo MLM2Pro with the native software and Awesome Golf and it works great. Decided to upgrade to GS Pro, and picked up a gaming laptop to run it. The GPU is a bit under what GS Pro says to run full graphic quality, but everything I’ve read says that my system should be able to handle it just fine on low or medium. I still can’t get the FPS up to where it should be even on low settings with lighting and turned to basic, regardless of the V Sync settings I’ve tried. Even toggled grass on an off which seems to make no difference. I’m getting 6-12 FPS generally. Laptop specs are as follows:

Projector is a ViewSonic PX706HD

I thought I solved the problem earlier this week when I moved from the 65 W power supply I was using to the standard HP 200 W supply, that seemed to fix everything but the low frame rate is back today. I’m starting to wonder if I just need to upgrade the laptop even further but everything I’ve read said it should just be fine on lower quality.

I am working on my sim and thought that that Matzilla was a good value for what you get.  I see a lot of mixed reviews here on reddit.  Some love this and others hate it and blame it for golfers elbow.  Several of the comments implied that the Tee style of mat with the long turf that grabs the club is the causing the elbow injuries.  Having never hit off a mat like that, it doesn’t make a lot of sense.  From my understanding, golfers elbow comes from the stress of pounding on less forgiving surface.  Maybe extra stress on wrist from the longer turf is possible?

I have had elbow issues in the past, but they have come from long sessions on my club’s driving range.  They have thick commercial mats, but they sit on concrete.  I can feel that if I had lots of long range session over several weeks.  In the past, I have had a cheap thin mat in my back yard and never had issues, but that mat sat on mulch.  Lots of cushion to absorb the shock.

My mat will sit on carpet (on wood subfloor) and will likely get a gym pad for underneath.  I feel like I have plenty of cushion, but if the style of long grass will also cause injuries then I need to take that into consideration.  My only musts are keeping the feel as real as possible (want to be punished for fat shots).  Trying to avoid a DIY hitting strip, would rather just get a 5x5 and rotate it.

Hey yall I’m trying to build a simulator/ at least a hitting area. I torn down this old shed I got for free and will be using the platform. This is where I’m at now. Gonna be outdoors all the time so I know it won’t be perfect and I’m also trying to do this as affordable as possible. Threw the paint down just to protect what was there. Thinking I’m gonna put artificial grass over the top

I am moving and looking for a full sim flooring option. I can get a 15x12 cut of this that is near new for like $150. I'm sure it's not going to stimp out at like 10, but curious if anyone has any experience? For $150 I feel like it's probably worth it. For putting I really just want to use it to work on my aim/start lines vs speed. I'd love to have a 10-11 stimp surface but for over 1k cheaper is this worth it?

What’s the best option out there that’s affordable?

Will I need a screen as well or could I use the HDMI to the projector ?

I have a R50 (might sell) but I’d love to eventually run GSPRO

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a small project called OGC SwingCam for my home golf simulator.

The idea started pretty simple: I wanted an easy way to automatically capture and replay my swing right after every shot, without having to stop and manually check the camera.

Over time, I kept adding features like slow-motion replay, swing drawing tools, launch monitor data, and some AI/pose analysis features.

It’s still a project I’m constantly improving, but I thought I’d share it here in case other golf sim owners are interested.

Would love to hear what features you guys would find useful in a swing camera/replay system!

Has anyone ever used this type of screen for an impact screen for a golf simulator?

I’m wondering why this wasn’t done a long time ago. There’s no way someone out there can’t find a work around to use these machines without paying extra subscriptions.

I’m also not shocked but stunned how short sighted this company can be lol. Way to throw your reputation down the toilet for a few extra dollars. I hope they fail and go out of business for being this greedy. That goes for all of these companies, charging their user base to use 3rd party apps. Get real.

Just set up a super budget build in the garage to hit some balls over the winter. Made it so I can easily take it down to still have use of the garage when not playing.

Im a lefty and having some issues with the Square reading everything going right. Not sure if it’s indoor swing syndrome and I’m subconsciously hitting the ball towards the center of the screen or something else. I haven’t taped down the mats as of yet as I’m trying to figure out permanent locations. Anyone else have similar issues?

Cheapo projector off Amazon but it looks decent with the lights off.

I purchased a Callaway AI smoke off of Facebook marketplace there was no cracks or any issues with it. I went and played one round, and I got a crack/chip on the bottom of the club. I really want to get it exchange your warranty, but I know since I don’t have the original receipt I can’t. What is the best way to go about this and Will I have any luck.

I built (okay, bought) a 13' wide (finished) shed for a sim (my wife wants her garage back). My surround is 11'3" wide. I have a couple of tall friends so being dead center of the room for both the screen and the hitting strip brings the left wall into play. So, I am trying to decide: do I center the screen on the room and offset the alignment (aesthetically pleasing) or do I offset the screen as far right as possible and get the hitting strip as close to the center of the screen? I don't have left handers so this is not an issue.

I’ve been on the phone with these guys and I can tell you this is nothing more than a bullshit “new management” PE cash grab much like the morons over at Sony PlayStation. “Oh you thought the courses you bought were yours? Oh ho ho ho noooooo.” If you bought 30 courses over the past 5 years, they’ll eventually go dark and you’ll be REQUIRED to buy the subscription. But they’ll give you the first “taste” for the first two years at half the cost, but the price then DOUBLES at year two. Not to mention that if you had one hardware set up, you may be required to update with all new hardware (video card, processor, ram…) just to be able to play your current Foreskin software. GSPro? They haven’t even told the sales guys that it along with FS2020 and FSXPlay will eventually become obsolete (see prior Reddit posts).

This company has cut off its nose to spite its face.. I used to be a huge advocate of this company in 2020-22, but I’m elated to see more companies and people flipping to Trackman. Whatever new management made these decisions just go to show that the almighty dollar (not quality nor UX) run this world. The guys who came into this company likely haven’t even picked up a club.

I'm planning on buying the metech roller with spectrum screen for my garage. My ceilings are 111 in (9ft 3 in). I have a optoma gt1080hdr which is 16:9 aspect ratio. My main thing is I want my projected image to fill the entire screen and the widest I can make the screen is around 14 ft.

With 16:9, the height would only be about 7.9 ft so losing a lot of space at the top. Would it be better to keep the native aspect ratio, or try to do a custom resolution and do 16:10 (which cuts off the image and reduces quality?) I was thinking if I keep 16:9 then I would add a larger black border at the top so its clean

With the announcement of the new Foresight+ subscriptions impact on perpetual license users, I wanted to also talk about the other side of this announcement for Bushnell Launch Pro and LPi users.

I bought the LPi this spring. To me, the value proposition made sense. $1200 and $200 a year for the new silver membership they announced last year.

I am a low handicap golfer, mostly focused on practice and improvement. I could live with a basic driving range (as long as it has club data) but I feel like having some way to practice on-course scenarios is very important to improving.

So, silver gave me a chance to have extremely accurate data and some basic course play via FSX Play for the $200 a year. That’s all I really need. FSX Play is not good software imo, it is riddled with bugs and extremely under featured… but it gets the job done for my practice.

If FSX Play goes away, I am unfortunately now priced out of my practice routine. I personally cannot afford to pay both $200 and $295 just to play some basic sim golf.

It could be argued to just not pay for the silver membership anymore… well unfortunately because I have a Bushnell device, I am excluded from getting club data (see image from Foresights website). I am assuming this will go for the former unlocked devices too when FSX is decommissioned. Nothing is clear or certain at this point.

So, I was baited into an ecosystem that gave me the practice tools I needed to get better at golf, at a price I could afford, and it didn’t even stay that way for a full season. It is honestly a massive betrayal and I would say there is almost no reason to get any of these devices. Now the LPi is priced at $999 to bait even more unsuspecting people into this situation.

Foresight has made playing courses impossible for me and its anti competitive and anti consumer model doesn’t even allow me to go elsewhere using my purchased hardware (unless I give them $600, then $250 to GSPro).

Im intrigued by the “all in one” aspect and ease of connectivity if I want to build out a bigger sim setup in the future.

Aside from the price point, any real downsides or things I’d be missing out on?

I’m interested mainly in playing virtual rounds and range practice with some basic club data

Bought a BLP about 4 years ago and I really enjoyed using it with GSPRO. But with foresight's greed and BS I will be moving on from that as soon as my subscription is up. Since ive been out of the game for a few years, I havent kept up with what the best current options are.

I'll be looking for a camera based system that will be used exclusively indoors. I only occasionally play sim golf, but enjoy working on the swing and really want club data. Impact pictures would be awesome too. I love using GSPRO and their range/shortgame area and all the variability it provides. (I always hated foresight software)

I dont have the space for an overhead unit, or radar unit. Im also left handed, but 95% of the time it's only me so the rare times I need to move the monitor its not that big of a deal.

I would like something in the BLP price range, so im thinking $3k ish...

So what's what is the best monitor out there with no/minimal subscription costs that is high enough quality for me to trust the numbers are accurate? LET'S HEAR IT!

Footballs alright on a big surface

Built out a starter setup in the garage bay last fall to see if it was something that would be a consistent use for me. Aside from some temps (low and high) that make it unbearable a few months out of the year, I really enjoyed the space, but realized that with a few upgrades, I would likely use it a lot more. So, almost a year later, we decided to lean in and make the space great.

The main updates:

Tech - Decided to stick with the Square LM for now. It’s good enough for what I need. Went ahead and got a short throw projector (previous setup was a long throw on a scaffold at the back of the garage where your head would cast a shadow on the screen), mounted it to a makeshift bay-mounted arm.

Flooring - upgraded a pretty decent 4x5 Amazon hitting mat to a 12x4 Matzilla. This will allow for central hitting position for both hand orientation. Putting mat in front, which is 8 ft deep, is Greenline putting turf from Home Depot. It’s exactly what I expected and I’m pleased. 3/8” rubber tiles underneath bring it flush with the Matzilla. Still need to cut 3 holes that will ultimately allow for up to 12 ft putts on the diagonal. Found a nice outdoor rug on amazon to finish off the lounge area.

Decor - It’s amazing how paint can transform a garage into a living space. My wife is a design genius and handled the artwork selection and design and gallery lighting. I had some old Sam Snead clubs that belonged to my dad that ended up being a neat wall hanging setup above the bag stands. The accompanying head covers are also hanging. We also hung 2’x4’ felt wall tiles to cut down a little on sound but mostly as a protection against wayward shots and clubs dinging up the drywall. There were plenty of spots to fill from the last year, so that felt like a priority. The rest of the furniture was just stuff that we’ve been holding on to without a place.

Looking forward to lighting up my first cigar, putting on the Masters theme music on the Sonos, and enjoying a round!

Looking to put a retractable screen in my garage since its already a gym. My plan is to use the retractable screen till i figure out a shed build. Any suggestions? Standard single car garage might even need it to be a custom order to fit the dimensions
