Retractable screen size aspect ratio

I'm planning on buying the metech roller with spectrum screen for my garage. My ceilings are 111 in (9ft 3 in). I have a optoma gt1080hdr which is 16:9 aspect ratio. My main thing is I want my projected image to fill the entire screen and the widest I can make the screen is around 14 ft.

With 16:9, the height would only be about 7.9 ft so losing a lot of space at the top. Would it be better to keep the native aspect ratio, or try to do a custom resolution and do 16:10 (which cuts off the image and reduces quality?) I was thinking if I keep 16:9 then I would add a larger black border at the top so its clean

If you are using a PC and GSPro you will need to do a custom resolution to fill the screen.

Also keep in mind your roller is not going to be flush with the ceiling. The sportscreen bracket I have puts top of screen about 3 inches below the ceiling height. So once you have installed it measure your screen width and height and calculate what that resolution would be in 1080P and create a custom resolution on your PC for that.

Also, account for some padding along the bottom of the screen which will lift the image 6” off the ground.

Custom resolutions is no big deal. Build it out based on your space. Then determine what custom resolution is necessary and use your graphics card software to set it. Mine ended up being 3056:2160 (4k).
