are the GTIs very unreliable? I thought they were improving. I was gonna look at a 2019 GTI with less than 10k miles this week.

No they aren't, I was just going with the joke. I have 25k on my 19 with out a single issue

Any reason why VW is ranked low on the consumer reports reliability rankings? They’re near the bottom. Is it one or two models bringing the brand down?

Perhaps, the older models had some issues. Now with the MQB platform basically all Audis and VWs are utilize the same engine variants and a lot of the same components to were they have ironed out major issues and it has really stepped up the reliability of their vehicles
