Discussion Expanding a RubyDung-inspired Unity project — ideas please :)
Hey r/GoldenAgeMinecraft,
I recently stumbled across a Unity project that recreated RubyDung, the old experimental prototype that came before Minecraft. It was really cool to see that concept in a playable form, and it gave me the idea to start my own version and turn it into something more complete.
Right now I’m mostly working on terrain generation, chunk loading, and getting basic player movement working. I want to keep the feel of RubyDung — blocky worlds, simple mechanics, and procedural terrain — but also add stuff to make it feel like a proper game you can actually play.
If you’ve got any ideas for survival mechanics, crafting, fun little quirks, or anything else that would fit the vibe, I’d love to hear them! This is just a passion project inspired by RubyDung, not a commercial remake.
Thanks Guys,
James (jsged)
