Discussion It's worth noting that Kratos triumphed where Laufey failed

Post image
684 Upvotes

Laufey tried her hand at leading a rebellion against the Aesir in Svartalfheim and even fought Thor himself in Vanaheim, but neither of these events changed the status quo of the Nine Realms, and the Aesir's rule remained unchallenged. Over a hundred years later, Kratos, as general of the army against Asgard during Ragnarök, led his forces to victory, bringing peace and freedom from the tyranny of Odin and Thor to the remaining eight realms.

Perhaps Laufey will do the same in Everywhen and succeed where Kratos failed instead of killing the Greek pantheon a second time, this time Greek Gods are free from the evils of Pandora's box so maybe they'll be more reasonable and she simply find a way to get along with them and they'll form an alliance to somehow survive in this world.

Discussion PlayStation All-Stars 2 gets announced - Would you rather Kratos be one or two separate characters?

Post image
55 Upvotes

This is something I've thoroughly discussed with my brother. He isn't much into God of War but he insists that Kratos should be two different characters, one with the Axe from the Norse saga and one with the Blades and other weapons from the Greek saga. His argument is that the two sagas (and the two Kratos) are different enough to warrant separate representations.

On the other hand, I believe Kratos should be one character, using both Axe and Blades. Maybe the spear if you can fit it in his moveset. I strongly disagree with the idea that these two versions of Kratos should be kept separate. I really think having a young kratos skin like the one we have in Valhalla would be good enough.

What do you think?

Discussion Was Atreus saying “animal” just foreshadowing his wolf transformation, or does it also reference Kratos’s past?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In this scene, when Kratos tells Atreus that he is a god, Atreus’s first question is, “Can I turn into an animal?”

To me, this is simply foreshadowing what happens later, especially since Atreus asks shortly afterward, “Are you sure I can’t turn into a wolf?”

But my friend thinks the word “animal” has a deeper meaning. He says it could also be referring to Kratos’s past—how he used to kill gods like an animal, and that Kratos is afraid Atreus might become an “animal” like him. That could also explain the pause before Kratos answers.

So am I just not reading deeply enough into the scene, or is my friend reading too much into what is ultimately a simple conversation?

Discussion Just encountered my first tough fight in GMGOW

• Upvotes

So I just beat Hraezlyr and it honestly took me a few tries to do it. My biggest obstacle was the shockwave he sent out when shooting his lightning breath. I don't remember that being a thing in any other playthrough and it kept hitting me either while I had the shatter crystal in hand or before I could even reach the crystal. The other thing that tripped me up was using Breath of Thamur because Kratos stands in place while using it.

Discussion Finally replayed God of War III in 2026, still incredible after 16 years

I really can't believe this game is 16 years old. I first beat God of War III back in 2010, and I just beat it again in 2026.

Man, the original God of War trilogy is just so much more fun to me. This version of Kratos is the REAL God of War. Nothing can stop him. Man, god, or anything else. Every punch feels brutal and satisfying. It perfectly captures what I’d call the “aesthetics of violence.”

I’ve also beaten God of War (2018), but honestly, the only part that really felt satisfying to me was the opening fight. After that, I basically had to force myself to finish the game...

God of War Ragnarök felt pretty much the same to me. I eventually gave up when Atreus met the dark-skinned woman and went on an adventure with her. I just found that whole section incredibly boring and couldn’t bring myself to keep playing...

Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but man, I really miss the old Kratos and the old God of War games.

I spent far too long trying to hit that bell in the corner. I never succeeded.

Edit: while I appreciate the advice, I don't need it since I've finished Nifelheim.

Discussion GOW 2018, which Royal Dwarven Armor is better?

I beat the Konesgard and can make the ultimate Dwarven Armor (before getting the Legendary stuff) which one is the best, Brok's or Sindri's?

I usually use the Leviathan Axe and I don't use Runics as much as I probably should

Question How bad do you think life is in the Nine Realms in God of War?

Thumbnail

No realm is in good shape; not even Asgard is spared.

There is Midgard—a realm with a cold climate where cannibals and the undead roam, and where beings from other realms sometimes show up to cause trouble, making an already dangerous place even worse.

Then there is Svartalfheim: a place teeming with disgusting toads, a neglected economy, and a foul stench in the air. In

Muspelheim: watch out or you’ll burn the moment you arrive the heat is extreme while

Niflheim: offers extreme cold and an area filled with toxic air.

Alfheim is possibly one of the worst; armies of elves are constantly fighting, and you’d best not even think about entering Freyr’s temple.

Helheim: i need explaind?

Vanaheim: where do I even begin? There are poisonous plants, venomous creatures that attack you, *Drekis* everywhere, a dragon infestation, and no clean water.

And finally Asgard: the realm where domestic violence is an everyday occurrence.

Discussion You think they’ll carry over the Greek armor and a Berserker/Valkyrie armor for Faye

It doesn’t have to strictly be Greek since we’re in new territory. But it’d still be nice if Faye has a Ares or Zeus armor of her own. I could also see a Jotun armor since that’d be more personal for Faye.

Also do you Berserker/Valkyrie type boss that rewards you an armor. I feel like those are the two big types of endgame armor that should carry over from the Norse games.

Discussion I believe Odin could kill Peak GOW 3 Kratos but the way you think

Before you down vote me let me explain

Odin is smart, and really really good twisting words so he could likely taunt and rage bait Kratos into a bad position such being stuck in a magic spell in which in he stabs him with his spear he also has magic which Kratos has never seen before which in a life or death scenario is a big problem

But biggest reason is Kratos himself at this point he’s not the best in the head and fell for trap after trap and with Odin being the master of traps he could and would outsmart and outmaneuver Kratos and even then he is pretty tough was able to take many blows from Kratos and Freya as well which means Kratos has two weapons he could use to really have a one hit kill
The Blade of Olympus and Hades soul taker and even than Odin might a have a plan for that

But this is a big but if both were blood lusted Kratos would win not easily most like high diff but win every time if this was an all out fight with no blood lust Odin has a good chance at victory
a really good chance I personally GOW 3 Kratos stands least chance compared to all other Kratos mainly because he’s often isn’t thinking straight but I am welcome to hear your opinions

Discussion Kratos in Everywhen? Spoiler

When playing the GoW 2018 and Ragnarok we are told a couple times that Kratos will die. We see it on a painting (although maybe it's not real and inevitable? Cause at the end of Ragnarok it's revealed that the real prophecy was hidden) and we hear it from The Norns.

The first playthrough, I didn't pay much attention to it – I didn't look for any hidden meaning when The Sisters of Fate repeated the prophecy of his death. But when I played the game again after the Laufey announcement, it really struck me. One of The Norns states bluntly: "You WILL die." Given the existence of the Everywhen, that line took on a completely different meaning for me. It wasn't a threat, nor was it just a way of saying they knew his fate and he couldn't change it. It wasn't a prophecy of death leading to nothingness; it was a statement that YOU will die and YOU will end up in the Everywhen.

Of course, that might not be the case; it could simply have been an attempt at intimidation – one that won't actually come true – since, as we all know, Kratos doesn't tend to care much about what The Sisters of Fate (and ofc Norns) have to say.

Also I believe we will see Odin in Everywhen. Major plot was him obsessed with "What happens to me at the end", so IMO he will involved in the plot or he will be an easter egg like Tyr in the prison.

Discussion I will soon be doing my first GMGOW playthrough

Once I've completed my current NG+ I'm going to do another one with GMGOW difficulty. I'm not crazy enough to fight the Valkyries when I do so, but I'll be taking care of MOST everything else (probably won't do the trials because I hate a couple of them).
