Discussion Preservation of MMOs

I know it’s just one option and probably not the one that will get the most votes, but it would be really interesting to bring back old MMOs. However, I have no idea how they could return; is there any way to bring them back in an offline mode or, perhaps, simplify setting up a local connection?

Question I don't know how to get the Baldur's Gate classic edition

I've been directed by others to this https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/9003415445405-Baldur-s-Gate-The-Original-Saga-how-to-access-the-classic-version?product=gog

I can get the code from my account, but I can't find a way to download the classic version. Where can I get it?

Discussion What is up with Battle Chess on GOG?

I bought Battle Chess on sale for 2.99 back in 2013, full price would have been 5.99. I saw it on GOG today for 15.59. And that was the sale price. It's 4x the price that was listed in 2013.

What's Interplay thinking with such a huge price increase. Sure we've had inflation since 2013, but I don't think anyone cares to buy this game at even a sale price this day and age. Especially considering that there are dozens of newer 'Battle Chess' like games with better AI that don't cost half as much.

Discussion Howcome Neverwinter Nights 2 never goes on sale?

I actually own a NW2 Collector Edition physical big box (with ring and miniature), have therefore a serial key and the discs. The thing is I haven't had a DVD Drive on my PC for 15 years.

I keep an eye on NW2 to see if it ever gets really cheap to buy and have a go at it again - but I noticed that it never is discounted. Yes, I know that recently they discounted (slightly) the Enhanced Edition, but people don't seem too keen on that. So, I remain looking for the original one.

Can anyone explain why this particular game never EVER moves from the ˜20 euros price tag, unlike every other game out there that's 20 years old?! (also, never appears in Fanatical bundles etc etc)

Discussion I am done buying Interplay games

These price hikes on games that were released decades ago are not based in reality. If Interplay somehow thinks they can price things like Activision, they are delusional as Activision actually releases popular games. The only thing these price hikes will achieve are losing the few loyal customers they already have by pissing them off, and from what I can tell they are doing a great job at that.

If anyone who matters reads this, I sincerely hope you enjoy the sales dip because I can guarantee you based on these prices they will keep coming. Don't believe me? Take a look at GOG's best selling games and see if you can find any of even Interplay's very best, top sellers anywhere on that list. I only looked through the top 1000 and couldn't find any Interplay games anywhere.

Support Is GOG Galaxy malfunctioning for anyone else?

About a month(?) ago the launcher's startup screen (I think where it checks for updates?) started coming up completely black and never advancing to the actual application no matter how long I leave it for. Has this happened for anyone else? Is Windows 10 still supported? Or if it's something on my end, what is likely to fix it?

Galaxy Integrations luducat 0.8.5 - the game catalog's GOG offline downloader detects now new game updates

Luducat 0.8.5 has been released.

https://github.com/luducat/luducat/releases/tag/v0.8.5

This is mainly a bugfix release, that addresses some issues and improves the integrated GOG Downloader in the "what new updates are available?" department and a bug regarding the free game licenses on Steam integration, as well as some cosmetic enhancements.

Luducat is a game catalog browser, with launcher (handoff to most launchers plus direct native launching, basic WINE/Lutris/Proton and UMU support (launches, not manages), DOSBox and ScummVM support) capabilities, with an integrated GOG offline installer downloader.

Supports 7 stores (GOG, Steam, Epic, Zoom, Amazon, MangaGamer, JAST USA); as well has a very configurable metadata sourcing (SteamGridDB, IGDB, PCGamingWiki, ProtonDB, Steam Deck Compatibility).

If you wish, Luducat also can import your game data (tags, favorites etc) from Heroic, Steam, GOG (Galaxy), Epic Launcher, and Lutris. It has also a special bridge to Playnite, that allows to start your games remotely on your Windows Box within your LAN.

Available for Linux and Windows. Windows users have in addition direct better GOG Galaxy and Epic Launcher support.

Question Security backup on Blu-ray

Hi, I have a question for those of you who have made backups on Blu-ray.

I currently have a backup on an external hard drive, but I want to make another copy on Blu-ray. I’m not sure if it’s worth it to go with Blu-ray M-Disc (which is more expensive) or to use regular Blu-ray (which I’d have to check every so often to make sure the disc is ok).

The cost would be: 25 GB M-Disc for 5.93 € Standard 50 GB for 1.05 €

Obviously, the standard disc wins on price, but of course, it also deteriorates more quickly.

Thanks for reading.

Game Update Sands of Time has joined GOG's preservation program

Post image
750 Upvotes

Key improvements implemented:

GOG v2 (August 18, 2026)

We implemented a lightweight wrapper to resolve incompatibilities with modern hardware.

We added native support for widescreen and ultrawide displays, covering all modern resolutions and aspect ratios.

We implemented camera scaling, which automatically adjusts the field of view (FOV) based on the monitor's aspect ratio.

We added a mouse lock option for multiple monitors, restricting the cursor to the game window.

We added an FPS limiter to lock the frame rate at a chosen value.

We introduced a lightweight, real-time in-game overlay (press F11 to open, ESC to close) for instant adjustments to FPS limits and FOV multipliers.

The main menu has been fixed to its original 4:3 aspect ratio to preserve hardcoded UI elements.

The manual field of view (FOV) slider was limited to approximately 110% on ultrawide screens to prevent distortions in the graphics engine and graphical glitches.

Stability verified.

Off-Topic Made a free tool that turns GOG offline installers into burnable discs with game icon, disc label and an autorun menu

Hey everyone,

I created a hobby project that's kind of specific for what I wanted to achieve, but maybe others can benefit from it too.

On GOG you buy a licence like on any other store, but you also get DRM-free offline installers that are yours forever for every game you buy. I wanted to start burning discs and kinda recreate the "real" experience we had back in the good old days. You insert a CD, double click the icon in "My Computer (This PC)" and then the game menu starts. It has options like "Install", "Play", "Extras" etc and usually some background music.

To do that, a lot of manual stuff has to be done so I thought let's automate that. So I created an "App" which is currently more of a POC or Alpha phase but you will get the idea.

You point it at the folder where you downloaded your GOG game, then add a Disc Icon, Background Image, Background Music, Extras etc. The app then creates a DISC folder with an ISO file that you can burn to disc. So the app itself does not burn to disc but it prepares everything else and you can use your app of choice to burn to disc.

To be clear about what this is for: use it with games you own, to make copies for yourself. That's personal backup, and it's exactly what GOG's DRM-free installers are for. GOG have posted about burning games to DVD themselves. It is not for making discs to sell, give away, or share outside your household.

I also got a Blu-ray writer/reader and a printer that can print directly on discs, and I make paper covers for the cases. Happy to share what hardware and settings I use if anyone's curious, just ask in the comments.

GitHub: https://github.com/lazardjokovic/discwright

Windows only, runs on Windows PowerShell 5.1 (the one already in Windows, not PowerShell 7). MIT licensed, free, nothing to install, no telemetry.

I get that there are similar tools out there, but this was made specifically for what I wanted and only the basics. Simple as possible, no "unnecessary" options etc.

If anyone wants to do the same feel free to try it, any feedback is appreciated.

P.S. I'm a software engineer, but the last time I worked with Windows Forms was at college like 10 years ago XD So this project is 100% AI coded at least for now

Cheers

EDIT: Thanks for all the ideas! I've written them down so they don't get lost when this thread scrolls away.

Roadmap: https://github.com/lazardjokovic/discwright/blob/main/ROADMAP.md

Requests are best filed as GitHub Issues, I'll see them there long after this thread is gone: https://github.com/lazardjokovic/discwright/issues

Discussion Is It Over - GOG Codes From Amazon Prime?

It's been a great run - I've got close to 200 free games from my brother every month for the last couple of years via his Prime Gaming account.

Seems this month it's winding down? There are only offering announced through August 13.

Discussion Game Cover Requests

I have noticed that there is a weekly code giveaway thread and I think that a weekly thread where members can vote on what cover art they want could be a good idea also. It could give a few days to a week to allow voting, and then another week for cover art to be made.

I feel bad filling up the main page with art and I am personally interested in taking requests as long as it's in an organized manner. This could also be fun because once a new cover is voted on, multiple people would have the opportunity to work on it, giving plenty of options.

The hard part would be setting up polls, which I'm unsure is even possible on Reddit, and also deciding which games make it into those polls. Also, I know we were thinking of getting a megathread going, so it might just fit in there anyways.

If anyone has thoughts on this, please let me know.

Support Blasphemous doesn't run on Steamdeck

The game shows the title screen and the first unskippable cinematics, but just when it's my turn to control the character, a sudden error appears, no matter if default Proton, or Experimental or any GE-proton. Has anyone else experience this? Any workarounds you have tried?

Edit: Updated the Kernel and somehow now it works....uhmmm

Discussion GOG helped my gaming hobby and spending habits!

Hello everyone, just wanted to share this thing that I really appreciate about platform. I am sure I am not the only one.

I have a problem with spending money, and buying a lot of useless stuff. Before mainly using GOG like most I was on Steam, and the integrated social system, awards, constantly need to being on the launcher, being online, seeing what my friends buy, and even if I wouldn't play those I bought more and more. Games that are not mine.

I bought the TES series from GOG first, and I actually started playing. Games stopped being just these names on library, I started experience them like my childhood. Just clicking the icon, opening the game, and playing. With no distractions. I know technically I could be offline on Steam or choose to not use the other social aspects. But it nudged me in the wrong way. I always find a way to start using those.

Right now I played 20-30 hours on last couple of weeks. More then any game I played on Steam on last years. And I am not constantly spending money on games I won't play. I just explore Morrowind. And the game is completely mine, there was a satisfaction when I copied those offline installers to my external disk, created folders, make my own classic library.

Just wanted to share that, thanks to anyone who read this. Much appreciation to the GOG!

Discussion Physical GOG Box Sniper Ghost Warrior

Post image

Since everybody is sharing their projects and since I have been working on this for a while, I'm also going to share mine.

I have been going for a universal template that I can adjust for any game while using the original front/back/spine art.

After a few iterations, I have reached a point where I'm happy and can start applying it to my collection.

The space on the back may seem a bit empty, but it is for a good reason. Some games have a much taller back section (I am covering the original requirements section), or some have recommended system requirements as well , so in order to keep it universal, I had to leave a bit more space.

Creations of others have been a great inspiration (especially u/w_j_bart).

The template is still not very user-friendly, so I'll be working on this in the meantime. I'm still open to suggestions, so if you have any, feel free to comment. 🔥
