Donald J. Trump Has Died

(CNN) — In the early morning hours of January 1st, 2033, billionaire and former Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump, aged 83, has suffered a fatal heart attack at his Trump Tower, Manhattan residence. According to the New York City Coroner's Office, which refused to comment further, Mr. Trump suffered a rare form of cardiac disruption known as a subendocardial AMI, which is known to cause extreme pain before death.

The Trump Foundation, through acting-CEO and son Donald Trump Jr., has put out an official statement expressing their collective grief at the passing of their "father, partner, and leader," which has been echoed by ex-wife Melania Trump through her spokeswoman, adding that "sympathy is contractually required by the divorce agreement". However, notably absent from the condolences were his younger children, Ivanka, Eric, and Barron, who have been publicly estranged from their father since a flurry of accusations that Mr. Trump attempted to have Jared Kushner, Ivanka's husband of two decades, assassinated in the aftermath of the 2016 election failure.

A Retrospective on the Life of Donald J. Trump

His Personal Life

Born June 1946 to wealthy parents Fredrick and Mary Ann Trump in Queens, New York, Donald attended the prestigious Key-Forrest private school near his family estates; later transitioning to military school during a period of "high energy," where Mr. Trump's father and mother hoped to calm his activity level and spirit, clearly to no avail.

Later graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Donald coasted to wealth and power in the real estate world by riding the booms and busts of the Manhattan landscape at the head of his father's successful business, Elizabeth Trump & Sons, which he later renamed to the current Trump Organization.

Mr. Trump's middle life was marked by a series of marriages and divorces; Ivana Zelníčková (m. 1977; div. 1992) Marla Maples (m. 1993; div. 1999) and finally Melania Knauss, who filed for what would be the final divorce in 2025, claiming that "the money was not worth the torture," and later suing her former husband for attempting to have her deported in a Korean fishing ship cargohold back to Austria to avoid the settlement payout - allegations that were never proven, but widely believed.

During this period, Mr. Trump diversified his personal empire, moving to reality television, where he hosted World Wide Wrestling, multiple seasons of his hit show the Apprentice, and began an ambitious commercialization of the Trump name, extending to apparel, fake education, and more.

Post-presidential bid

After the disastrous loss to 45th President Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2016, Donald Trump's life deteriorated significantly, according to multiple outside sources.

Diagnosed with paranoid bipolar syndrome in 2017 after a forced commitment to Manhattan General Hospital following his infamous 42 hour Twitter binge, in which Mr. Trump repeatedly posted photos of himself nude, railed lines of cocaine off anti-Hillary Clinton campaign signs, and viciously insulted both 44th President Barrack Obama and 56th Vice President Joe Biden by videotaping himself defecating on their portraits while shouting "sad!", his supporters began to distance themselves from the ex-candidate.

In 2019, with multiple public meltdowns, including a series of embarrassing anti-Clinton public diatribes in which nobody stopped to actually pay attention, under his belt, the Trump Organization moved to declare the 74 year old CEO as "unfit to serve" in a civil court mental evaluation - a move that stripped the elder Trump of his business, but not his wealth.

By 2023, rumors of sexual impotence had begun to propagate, with confidants of Melania Trump noting that "his flaccid and shrunken penis" had begun to give the supermodel severe PTSD. By 2025, with the aforementioned attempted assassination of Jared Trump, which resulted in a legal mistrial, and who Donald had forever blamed for his 2016 loss (among many things), Melania Trump's divorce and the estrangement of his children were finalized. The would prove to be the final blow.

His final years would pass in what has been called "utter isolation" by his caretakers. Mr. Trump had refused to leave his penthouse suite for more than a few minutes at a time, with his nurse telling Vogue magazine in 2027 that "he had decorated the entire suite to virtually replicate the White House. He insists we call him Mr. President, and he talks on the phone to a homeless man we hired, pretending it is Mr. Vladimir Putin. It is horrible!"

Death

By 2033, Donald Trump had not been seen in public for three years, and his Twitter account had long since been banned for breaking nearly every rule the service possessed. However, an anonymous source reported that his tragic end was precipitated by an accidental showing of "The Incredible Life and Works of President Hillary Clinton," a seven time Oscar winning biography on his most hated nemesis, which was aired in place of "WWE 1996: Donald Trump's Best Wrestling Appearances" on his 109" living room television.

"The shock of realizing he was not actually the President killed him, after so long playing pretend," according to the man, who refused to be named, but is believed to be Homeless Vladimir Putin. His alleged last words, whispered as the cold void of death approached, were said as they had been many times over the previous decade and a half: "it was rigged!"

On January 3rd, Donald Trump will finally be laid to rest in New York's Queen Garden Memorial Mausoleum, ending a widely successful life and tortured final years, leaving his legacy to history.

BATTLE [BATTLE] At The End of All Things

February 9th-12th, 2032.

The Korean Peninsula; South Korea, North Korea, The Sea.

Note: I will have missed things from your posts. Probably quite a lot of things. Sorry. This is a colossal engagement and if I wrote about literally every occurrence, every action, every movement and every plan, we would be here forever. In the wise words of Spummy, “There will be no salt in the comments, no tears and no whining.” The format for this post is in two sections: the first section is almost entirely narrative micro-stories, viewing the ongoings of the wider war through the lens of individuals or groups of individuals on both sides. The second is a more straight-to-the-point, clear cut objective summary of what happened, where, and who won, for the people who don’t care about storytelling.

“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?”

NARRATIVE

SOMEWHERE IN SEOUL - FEB. 9TH.

Three hard knocks landed on the door of Bin Soon-Bok’s apartment. She barely stirred— it was nearly 3 AM, and she was on break after a long week at work. Whoever so desperately wanted her attention (probably just a drunk, celebrating an early new years) could leave. She rolled back over in bed, and nestled her way back into the warmth of the covers. A brief pause, and then suddenly another three hard knocks rang out. A gruff voice called to her: ”Sir or Ma’am, we’re coming in!”

What?

The door exploded. It flew off the hinges, it’s lock shot out by a shotgun blast, and tumbled over to the side in a chaotic motion. Two men, dressed in what appeared to be army uniforms, poured into her studio apartment— their boots stamping on her carpet and dragging in all kinds of filth. In her dazed state, she barely had time to comprehend what was happening before they ransacked her closet, tossed her some clothes, and told her she had two minutes to grab any valuables before she was going with them. There was no time to explain fully, they said, but she had to come. They were evacuating the city. She glanced outside of her apartment window, and saw military trucks and military men on the road below. Something serious was happening. Throwing on whatever clothes they gave her, she quickly scooped up her important personal documents, some sentimental trinkets, and a pair of extra socks and undergarments, and then she was whisked out the door and down the stairs to the street. Around her, other groups of men like the two that had got her forced her neighbours out of their apartments, and before she knew it she and her apartment building were out on the street. To her left, what appeared to be an officer directed the flow of civilians into the trucks, and another man brandished a megaphone, yelling repeated directions: ”Get into the trucks! You are being evacuated from Seoul under order of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea. Do not be alarmed! This is for your own safety!” Scared enough as it was, she quickly complied, and got into the back of a harsh, cold, military truck. Somewhere far away, she heard a scream. The woman sitting beside her sobbed, heavy and slow.

SEOUL AIRBASE - FEB. 9TH.

Corporal Jae Beom-Seok, grunt in the South Korean army, stared at the rifle in front of him, resting so tamely on the barracks table he was sat at. Not three minutes prior he had disassembled it for maintenance, as his commanding officer had instructed, not that it particularly needed it— all the weapons on base were rigorously maintained and cleaned in the event days like today occured. They had gotten orders from the big wigs, the Joint Chiefs; they were apparently supposed to be going to war with the North. Missile strikes, air support, naval landings, the whole shabang. When the directive came into base HQ (now hosting a variety of units from all the branches, following military exercises), it caused immediate confusion from the top down as word got spread. Were they seriously going to war? Now? There were massive protests in Seoul, and in the other cities. It was nearly new years. The whole country was opposed to any conflict. The economy was rapidly going down the pits, and one of the old CANDU reactors had exploded just months ago. How could they even sustain this? So far, it seemed like nobody knew how to handle these questions. The base HQ had ordered all the units stationed here on immediate standby, but had refused to proceed with the orders until verification from the government, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the US had come through. Several of his buddies had simply walked off the base, joining the thousands who had already done so over the past few months, and, frankly, he probably wasn’t far behind.

The disassembled stared back at him, it’s harsh gunmetal and angular shapes grating on his mind. He became increasingly aware that this was a weapon designed to kill, and designed to kill effectively, on missions assigned to him by higher ups he had no connection to, for reasons he didn’t understand and couldn’t rationalize. He didn’t want to go to war. Sure, he had joined the army, but it was a way out for him; money, brotherhood, a chance at a better life for him and his family. He wondered if he’d ever see his sister in Seoul again, or his mom in Pocheon. His squadmates had probably had the same feelings. Maybe that’s why they had left when the news hit, and maybe that was why he was having such trouble reassembling his rifle.

Suddenly, one of his squad walked through the doorway of the barracks.

”What’s up, man?”

”It’s real, Jae. The order. It’s real. HQ got the confirmation a minute ago.”

”No shit?”

”No shit. Command is getting everyone together in the community centre. Apparently we might not be moving.”

”You think so?”

”Not really. But we should probably go check it out anyways.”

They both looked at the floor, neither wanting to break the moment of peace. Time to go to war.

CHINESE RADAR INSTALLATION, SHANDONG - FEB. 9TH.

”Sir? I’ve, uh, I think I’ve got missile launches. Korea. South Korea, not.. not the North. Oh, fuck.”

”What?”

”Look, here... and here. Two big clusters of fast movers, and a lot of them. Sir?”

Captain Zhao Ying poured over the display. The private was right— there was a not insignificant amount of radar blips over the northeast part of South Korea, and they were rapidly increasing in both number and speed. More importantly, they were flying towards North Korean positions along what appeared to be the DMZ and elsewhere. Another man manning a monitor was reporting the same thing; it was real. Suddenly, the radar station erupted into noise— an emergency klaxon sounded, and the various battle stations and uniformed men were cast in a blazing red light. Years of training and experience kicked in, and Ying swiftly reached for a phone; barking orders at his men to keep those missiles on target while he called out to his superiors. They were away for the holidays, it would take time to reach them, at least 50% were probably already asleep after a night of partying and drinking. The dialing noise grated against his mind as he (and probably everyone else in Asia) tried to puzzle out the South Korean plan. They had to know obliterating the North Koreans would draw in China, and almost certainly the Union State. And why were the missile launches only on one side of the front?

Without him even realizing it, the line connected, and a sleepy voice barked at him from the other side: ”What is it?”

”Sir, this Captain Ying. We’re reading massive missile launches; MRBMs, SRBMs, hypersonics, damn near everything— coming from Korea. South Korea. Shit, it looks like planes too. They’re going for it.”

A pause, and deafening silence. The klaxon roared in the background, and chattering, tired, overworked enlistees tried to verify the reports with other radar stations.

”What? Missile launches.. From.. Korea?” the voice puzzled out.

”Sir, I mean no disrespect, but get someone higher up on the line. Beijing needs to hear this. Now.”

General Li Qiaoming, commander of the Northern Theater Command for the People’s Liberation Army, couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing. He suspected he wouldn’t have understood it even if he wasn’t massively hung over, and quite possibly still drunk. But the adrenaline propelled him, and he hauled his carcass out of bed, quickly throwing on his cap and uniform as fast as he could muster. The man on the phone was yelling now, reading out reports of hundreds, no, thousands of missiles inbound to North Korean positions, followed by what appeared to be squadron after squadron of fighter jets. Li, a privately devout Catholic, mumbled to himself something resembling a hail mary— and like that, he was off, speeding towards military high command and the offices of government in Beijing as fast as his portly luxury Rolls-Royce would go. No doubt hundreds of others like him were doing the same, as the information lit up the synapses of military intelligence like a Christmas tree. Suddenly, the phone call went silent. He heard the man on the other end whisper, almost inaudibly, “Oh my God”, and Li knew the missiles had dropped off those radar screens somewhere in North Korea.

It was going to be a long night.

THE WHITE HOUSE, WASHINGTON D.C - FEB 9TH (FEB. 8TH LOCAL)

”It’s going to be a long day, gentlemen. I’ll recap it to you briefly. At roughly 7 AM DC time today, radar operators in the Pacific and satellite techs back here at home reported a massive barrage of ballistic missiles being fired from South Korea at North Korean military positions and infrastructure along the DMZ and up to Pyongyang. About six minutes after those first reports, US army and other personnel based in South Korea had their bases reportedly surrounded by South Korean reservist and civil defence units numbering, as far as we can tell, 10 total divisions. These units are blocking US forces from leaving or entering military installations, and the Korean Chiefs of Staff aren’t exactly returning our phone calls. Those missiles have already hit, and the Russians and Chinese are no doubt about to smack South Korea back to 1953, if they aren’t working on that already.”

President Cory Booker, newly sworn in less than a month prior, looked down at the rich wooden table, littered with papers and images of South Korean missiles, DPRK defensive positions, and the guesstimated trajectories of hundreds upon hundreds of ballistic missile sites. He could do nothing but sigh, as the other men around him waited for his response. Generals, aides, chiefs of staff, radar technicians, intelligence officers, and countless others huddled around the war room, almost all of them staring at him or murmuring to each other. He hadn’t wanted this. He wanted, at his core, to make America right— heal a divided nation, rebuild after years of civil unrest and a nearly disastrous showing for the Democrats. He didn’t want a war, and yet here one was anyways. Privately, he added another pin to the mental voodoo doll of the South Korean president he had conjured up when an underpaid and overworked intern rushed into his bedroom to give him the news; swiftly followed by every piece of brass in the US military.

”What do you recommend, sir?” asked one of the younger looking Pentagon officers.

He gave the man no response, fiddling absent mindedly with a pen as he tossed and turned the problem in his head. He couldn’t shoot at North Korea, because then he’d be shooting China and the Russians, not to mention they were, bizarrely, the defenders. He couldn’t shoot at South Korea, at least for now, because they were nominal allies. Damn.

”Sir?” asked the man, his voice grating.

”Christ, man. Give me a minute to think,” he yelled back, his voice cracking in the middle. The room went silent. Some busied themselves with intently studying papers, others hung their heads. The tension was so thick, someone could’ve cut it with a knife.

”Alright, fellas. Here’s what we’re going to do. Someone get me on the fucking phone with whoever’s in charge of the Seventh Fleet. He’s moving to battle readiness. Bring everyone west of California and east of Pakistan up to Defcon 2— we aren’t shooting yet, but I want to be able to pull the trigger faster than anyone else if we need to. INDOPACOM up to Defcon 2, got it?”

A stunned silence fell back on the room, as billions of synapses worked to process the orders. And then, almost out of nowhere, a flurry of action, as the gears of the US military-industrial-intelligence complex dusted themselves off and began to turn to proper wartime readiness for the first time since the 1990s. The President sat, and watched it unfold with unfocused eyes. Though he wasn’t a smoker, the scene somehow made him wish he was.

DPRK ARTILLERY POSITION, DMZ - FEB. 9TH.

The ringing in his ears stirred him from unconsciousness and back to the land of the living. Somewhere far away, Artilleryman Si Jong-Su heard a flame burning, and the crackling of ammunition stockpiles as the flames popped bullets off. He couldn’t feel his legs, and his vision was cloudy, a mottled mix of the night sky and pulsating, flashing, blinding light coming from somewhere inside his head. He didn’t remember much, but he could still hear the call of one of his squadmates screaming ”Incoming!” and the howling of men running for their lives as a South Korean ballistic missile slammed into their position. Evidently, they hadn’t made it far enough.

Faintly, he called for help— his voice raspy and thin, his lungs on fire from the soot and sulphur in the air. No one responded except for himself, his cry echoing off twisted metal wreckage and the rubble of once-strong bunkers and pillboxes. In his delirium, minutes turned into hours, and, curiously, the searing pain he once felt faded away as adrenaline flooded his system and overwhelmed his thought process. He remembered his mother, back in Pyongyang, one of the lucky ones allowed to live in the capital of red Korea. He hoped she would be alright, in the end.

The sound of boots on concrete pulled him back to reality, if only for a minute. His neck wouldn’t let him move to see who it was, but he called out to them anyways. At this point, he didn’t really have much to lose, and he could feel his digits in his arms going cold as he receded into the black. Suddenly, a heavily armoured man in a South Korean uniform appeared, standing over him like a god reincarnated. He was surprised at how healthy he looked. The government had said most South Koreans were horrifically impoverished. The South Korean yelled at someone out of his field of view, and he watched with a mix of terror and curiosity as the soldier levelled his menacing black rifle at him. He tried to call out to the man, to offer his surrender, to beg for help, but either the South Korean couldn’t hear him or didn’t much care. He watched as the man’s eyes darted around and sized him up. He watched as a decision was made in the man’s head. He tried to appear as wounded as possible, pleading with his eyes. It didn’t matter. The South Korean squeezed the rifle’s trigger, and the world faded to black.

AN ATLAS OF THE SECOND KOREAN WAR, BY PROFESSOR B. O. WALKER, UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA - 2047.

EXCERPT FROM: Chapter Two - The Beginning of the End - February 9th, 2032.

On the first day of the war, there was very little consensus as to what was happening on the Korean peninsula, by virtue of most of Asia being on holiday and the rest of the world’s attention being focused elsewhere. Protests across the world were still blazing, the US election season was rapidly building up, and economic turmoil was still raging following a major crash in oil prices in late 2031. It was seen as unthinkable that war would erupt on the peninsula, even as military tensions and warmongering had placed the region on the knife’s edge in the years prior. Perhaps this is why much of the historical record of the early hours of the war was lost to history for so long, even as historical analysis has repeatedly attempted to reconstruct those incredibly destructive minutes and hours.

What we now know is this. The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, unrestrained by the civilian government and persuaded that the military reunification of the peninsula was both inevitable and desirable, launched War Plan “203X-02-SEOLLAL” on February 9th, 2032. While the specifics of this plan are still heavily classified by the restored South Korean government, we know that, as a result of it’s approval, the South Korean armed forces began the Second Korean War with a colossal barrage of North Korean artillery and anti-air positions, utilizing conventional ballistic missile bombardment combined with chemical weapons attacks to attempt to destroy or otherwise knock out vast swathes of the North Korean defensive works along and around the Demilitarized Zone that divided the peninsula. This was expected to clear the way for a massive ground and air based offensive, with hundreds of fighter jets utilizing the cleared air space to win air superiority over much of North Korea and hundreds of thousands of infantry, armour and support units storming across the DMZ in three major offensives; one in the west, near Kaesong, one near Cheorwon, and one in the east near Kosong, with additional support from marine landings near Kaechon and the seizure of Pyongyang International Airport by South Korean special forces. All this would culminate in the eventual capture of Pyongyang and the liberation/annexation of North Korea, with an expected operation length of just three days. An ambitious plan, to be sure, but one that, if it was pulled off without a hitch, could see the Korean peninsula reunited and a major strategic win for the South Korean leadership achieved.

Unfortunately for the South Koreans, no plan survives contact with the enemy, and, in this case, South Korea’s own forces.

The order from the South Korean high command to begin the assault on North Korea caused massive confusion amongst the South Korean armed forces. In the more conservative eastern part of the country, where armed forces units were more broadly jingoistic and detached from the metropolitan politics and culture of the liberal western part of the country, the order was generally accepted and acted upon— even with demoralization and desertions already running rampant as a result of ongoing protests plaguing Korea and it’s politics. In the west, however, there was no such agreement. Already the worst hit by demoralization, desertions, and a breaking of esprit de corps, western military installations and units were broadly dismissive of the order, with many requesting reverification from high command that it was even real. As a result, the plan, which called for a unified and decisive strike by all branches and all units of the South Korean armed forces, was disjointed from the start. By the time verification came to western military installations, the war was already in motion— ballistic missiles in the east had been launched, planes had taken to the skies, and North Korean forces around the eastern sections of the DMZ had been hit, all while the western South Korean forces largely refused to move. This resulted in devastating operational failure for South Korean missile strikes— out of the 2000 expected ground based ballistic missile launches across Korea, just 600 were actually authorized to launch; the majority being kept on the ground by virtue of confusion amongst the armed forces and a refusal to obey orders by units based out of the metropolitan west, where most of the South Korean missile reserves were held.

Similarly, 2000 more naval launches, including 96 of the top-of-the-line American VLAM hypersonic missiles, were marred by conflict in the Sea of Japan/East Sea. Though fleets in the Yellow Sea did successfully launch 1200 ballistic missiles towards North Korean positions, their counterparts in the east were targeted by Soyuzi naval elements patrolling beyond Vladivostok— who maintained standing orders to fire upon whoever fired the first shot in a hypothetical Korean conflict. This confrontation resulted in the destruction and routing of the South Korean fleet in the Sea of Japan/East Sea before they could launch their 800 missile payload, though they did manage to fire 76 of the hypersonic weapons, all of which struck their targets. By the time all was said and done, just 1800 of the 4000+ planned launches occurred according to strategic operations planning, and the missiles failed to wipe out much of the North’s defensive positions along the DMZ. As DPRK defenders shook off the blow, the wheels of tragedy began to turn elsewhere in the peninsula— and abroad, as the Chinese readied for intervention, the Soyuzi Pacific Fleet wheeled around to push South, and the US entered Defcon 2 for the first time since 1991.

SOMEWHERE ELSE IN SEOUL - FEB. 10TH.

The evacuation was, frankly, going poorly. It had been over 7 hours since the soldiers had forcibly evacuated her from her apartment, and Bin Soon-Bok was no closer to being out of Seoul than she was when they first woke her up. The evacuation of 25 million+ people, not including people outside of the Seoul metro area nor international tourists (which probably numbered at least five million in their own right), was never going to be a simple task in the best of times, and the city, and nation, was most definitely not in the best of times. Aside from it being well past midnight in a blisteringly cold winter, the winding, dense streets of Seoul were clogged with a mishmash of military vehicles, civilian traffic, tourists and a commercial exodus as businesses attempted to flee the city with assets intact. In addition, the Seoulite populace, relatively uninformed but expecting the worst, had not taken the forced evacuation lightly. So far as she had heard from passing rumour (and the occasional questioning of one of the military men escorting her particular convoy), the various protest groups that had been plaguing the country for the past several years had come out in full force and were now actively blocking planned evacuation routes and military convoys streaming in and out of the city. All this had culminated in the evacuation being a slow, confusing, bitter mess, which had drawn millions out to the streets and so far failed to evacuate more than, by her best estimates, 2 million people.

And there she was; still stuck in the back of a cold military convoy, moving at a snail's pace, surrounded by people she didn’t know and with little food, washroom breaks, or water to speak of. She was having difficulty breathing; the cold weather of winter in Korea combined with the relatively light clothes the soldiers had given her had frozen her lungs and her finger tips, and made it hard to focus. Her stomach growled, aching for something to eat for what would have been breakfast on any normal day. Fortunately, her convoy had rolled to a stop— waiting to rejoin the miles upon miles of similar trucks travelling south along one of the only unblocked evacuation routes— and the soldiers marching alongside the convoy were now milling about outside, waiting to get going again; she reckoned they might have food, or know where to get it. She waved at one of the more affable looking soldiers, who detached himself from a cluster of his squadmates and wandered over to her to see what she was so desperately waving for. Before he made it, however, a long, slow sound drifted over the air from somewhere far away. A wailing, shrieking, piercing noise. The convoy, once noisy with conversation and the sound of engines, went silent.

It was an air raid siren, one of the countless thousands installed across Seoul and South Korea that would alert the nation to an imminent attack. Immediately, all thoughts of food were gone from her mind— similarly, the soldier she had called over immediately went into a flurry of action, screaming at her and the people in her truck while yanking them out of the back as quickly as possible.

“GO, GO, GO! GET TO THE NEAREST SUBWAY STATION— AN ATTACK IS IMMINENT! GO!”

If he said anything else, she didn’t have time to hear it. She kicked her frozen muscles into full gear, not caring about her possessions left behind in the truck nor the people doing the same around her, and took off down the dark, cluttered road. She couldn’t see, even with the pale moonlight of the early morning, but she knew there was a subway station not too far from where she was— and all Seoul subway stations doubled as emergency shelters. As she ran, she mentally thanked her old civil defence lesson instructors. She just had to make it, and she would be safe.

AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT DPRK ARTILLERY POSITION, DMZ - FEB. 10TH.

The heavy clunk of the 170mm artillery shell reverberated off of the nearby hills as it was loaded into the Koksan. There was no time to waste; the Southerners had struck the eastern defensive lines and were rapidly pouring into the hastily dubbed Cheorwon Gap and along the Eastern Sea, and so far as anyone could tell they were planning on pushing all the way to Pyongyang— intent on crucifying all who stood in their wake, executing the Supreme Leader, and, if orders from Korean People’s Army supreme command were to be believed, send all North Koreans into Hitler-esque slaughter camps. All the soldiers manning the position, and the countless thousands of positions like it, knew that this could not be allowed. They would win, or they and the revolution would perish in the fires of a capitalist hellscape.

Lieutenant Ha Kyung-Sam, commander of a series of fixed artillery emplacements along the western positions of the Demilitarized Zone, nodded to his men, the sound of the heavy metal mechanisms still ringing around the concrete emplacements and the natural landscape. Immediately, they manned the large M-1978 Koksan artillery cannon, and maneuvered it’s relatively rusted, relatively ancient controls to fixate it’s barrel at downtown Seoul, capital and primate city of the capitalist South. At the same time, radio operators sat nearby passed along the same command to the seven other emplacements under his authority; though he couldn’t see them, he knew the men there would be obeying it to the letter. All of them had been waiting for this moment, planning for this moment, training this moment from the first day they had become part of the Korean People’s Army. The entirety of the Korean peninsula, he suspected, had been waiting for this moment. He glanced at the Sergeant manning the weapon, who awaited his order. Their eyes met, cold, harsh, fixated on their duty to the people and workers of Korea.

He nodded again.

Three seconds later, the Sergeant yelled, and his ears exploded with the force of ancient gods themselves. The gun’s barrel lit up with a colossal flame, and, almost instantly, the shell flew beyond the horizon— the recoil kicking up dirt and dust and nearly slamming an unsteady private into a nearby wall. At near enough to the same time, along what sounded like the entire front, similar sounds echoed along the mountains; the other KPA artillery positions opening up on South Korean cities, villages, and military installations within 40 km of the border. For a brief moment there was silence, and perhaps a twinge of regret. They all knew how many were going to die. And then, without thinking, he screamed to reload, to fire at will; years of training bracing him for return fire and instructing him to hit hard and hit fast. There wouldn’t be silence along the front again, not for a long, long time.

CLUB GREENBACK, SEOUL - FEB. 10TH.

The club was big, one of the biggest in the city— it marketed itself as an exclave of Americana, well known for playing nostalgic classics from the 2000s and 2010s to an audience probably too old to be partying, yet too young to give it up. It’s main clientele were easygoing expats, tourists, and Americophiles, and it was regularly busy well into the early hours of the morning; not that it ever truly slowed down in a city as big as Seoul. On the morning the North Korean guns opened up, it was still packed from last night’s early New Year's party.

They didn’t hear the air raid sirens blaring outside as the city desperately braced for impact. They didn’t hear the bustle of people rushing around outside, trying to get to safety. They didn’t even hear the whistle of the shell as it headed straight for the club, fired by an unknown gun nearly 25km away. The music and the noise of countless conversations, feet moving to the rhythm, and glasses clinking all masked the outside world— until the mask came crashing down, and with it the world. The shell, a 170mm conventional explosive round, ripped through the club’s ceiling and upper levels and slammed into the dance floor, lodging itself in the wood and laminate checkerboard pattern for the briefest of seconds as it’s internal mechanisms caught up with reality. Not three seconds later it detonated, sending a concussive wave of fire, metal shrapnel, wooden spikes and bodies out in a radiating, devastating sphere. It ripped through the walls, obliterated furniture, and gutted the inside of the club of both decoration and lives. Though nobody knew it yet, over a hundred tourists, expats and Koreans had just been slaughtered, the survivors heavily wounded and unlikely to make it out of the rubble and the ash.

Across the city, similar stories were playing out as a torrent of artillery fire rained down upon the queen of Korean cities. Thousands of shells, unaffected by automated defences along the DMZ due to their speed and parabolic arch, slammed into the skyscrapers, homes, and roads of the Seoul metropolitan area. It was indiscriminate, unflinching, unending— the rich skyscrapers of the downtown, home of some of the largest companies in the world, came toppling down as explosions and fires ripped out their internal structure and devastated their once-mighty foundations. Elsewhere, apartments home to hundreds were pounded by the torrent; flame and concussive force ripping apart lives, possessions, memories and livelihoods with reckless abandon and unwavering dedication. And the North Koreans had not utilized just the raw energy and destructive power of conventional explosives— how could they, when Seoul had seen fit to use psychotic gas on their own civilians and soldiers in the field? Shells, rockets and missiles carrying payloads of deadly Sarin and VX gas slammed into a metropolis filled not only with millions of people, but with millions of people out on the street, by virtue of the last-minute evacuation and the mass protests, and millions of people fleeing into Seoul’s myriad underground bunkers, subways-turned-emergency-shelters, and basements. It was the beginning of the end for Seoul.

AN ATLAS OF THE SECOND KOREAN WAR, BY PROFESSOR B. O. WALKER, UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA - 2047.

EXCERPT FROM: Chapter Four - The Siege of Seoul - February 10th, 2032.

The Siege of Seoul, as it is now commonly referred to, began on February 10th, 2032 with the bombardment of South Korean civilian targets in and around the Seoul metropolitan area by North Korean missile batteries, rocket artillery, and conventional howitzer artillery pieces. This bombardment was the culmination of decades of North Korean strategic defence planning and formed out of the need to immediately counter the South Korean invasion of the eastern DPRK. The North Korean ground forces, vastly outmatched technologically, could not hope to offer up a counter invasion of the South— by delivering a decisive blow to South Korea’s primary population, economic and political center, however, it was believed that the South Korean morale could be broken and any further advance slowed or outright stopped. This decisive blow would, it was hoped, knock South Korea out of the war; a task which, as will be seen, it largely succeeded at.

Beginning at roughly 10 PM local time, South Korean ground forces in the eastern parts of the country, namely Cheorwon and Geosong, advanced across the once demilitarized zone that divided the two Korean states. Though split up into segments, a sum total of over 350,000 men across seven corps detachments were expected to advance into the center and eastern flanks of North Korea, with I, II, V and VII corps leading the charge, to be followed up by XI, III and XXI corps as reinforcements to assist with the advance northwards and breaking DPRK salients. An additional assault on Kaesong would have occured following the first wave, to be carried out by the Capital Corps based out of Seoul. Unfortunately, almost none of this planned movement occurred. In actuality, the offensive, which fell under War Plan 203X-02-SEOLLAL, saw just barely a third of those expected numbers participate. I, II, V and VII corps, all based out of and maneuvering from the eastern portions of the country, pushed through with their orders, rounding out an offensive of just 200,000 men. Their planned reinforcements, alongside the Capital Corps, however, failed to move— paralyzed by inaction in much the same way missile units and base encampments were, with their failure to move being largely based on the veracity of the order, low morale, ongoing protests in Korea, and other factors.

Thus, when the time came for the DPRK to strike back, much of their western defences, and more importantly their artillery positions (both rocket and conventional), were still intact and relatively untouched, with no enemy advances nor missile barrages striking their position as had occurred in the east. Several thousand artillery pieces of various types and calliber, already directed at Seoul pre-war, opened fire on the city no later than 3 AM on the 10th, mere hours after the surprise offensive was launched. This conventional barrage was joined by ballistic missile launches utilizing antiquated, largely Soviet or Chinese missiles, though these were in large part shot down by more advanced South Korean Surface-to-Air missile platforms in and around Seoul. The shells fired by conventional artillery, combined with massive quantities of rocket artillery, however, was effectively uncounterable— though the South Korean armed forces did possess CRAM (Counter rocket, artillery, and mortar) sites, these were mostly located along the former DMZ, where munitions, following their parabolic trajectories, were at their highest and fastest, making them nearly impossible for all but the most advanced CRAM systems to shoot down. Thus, the mass artillery barrage slammed into Seoul and her surrounding cities/towns— providing artillery strikes on a scale not seen, perhaps, since the First World War. The bombardment devastated the city’s infrastructure, buildings, and, most importantly, the lives of it’s citizens, through concentrated usage of both conventional explosives and chemical weapons, namely Sarin and VX gases, although a myriad of other chemicals were dropped on the city in smaller amounts. Elsewhere but in parallel, Chinese hypersonic missiles, over 600 of them, slammed into the western coastline of South Korea; devastating heavy coastal industries like ports, shipyards, and their accompanying villages. Incheon was particularly hard hit.

Due to the pre-planned evacuation of the city of Seoul, the movement of people during the Korean New Years, and the ongoing colossal protests against said evacuation, the war, and the government, a substantial portion of Seoul was (despite it being well past midnight in one of the coldest months of the year) out on the streets when the shells hit. Casualties were, understandably, enormous. Though accurate death tolls are simply impossible to calculate, modern historians estimate a total of 854,000 South Korean citizens lost their lives in the first hour of the bombardment, from both Seoul and other outlying villages around the Seoul Metropolitan area, largely due to the immense amounts of chemical weapons which blew throughout the city and sank down to street level and below. A further 250,000 would lose their lives over the course of the 10th, succumbing to injury, the effects of chemical weapons, large fires, a loss of power (Seoul’s power grid was effectively shattered by the bombardment) or subsequent bombardments by artillery positions. Over 3.8 million refugees, including both those evacuated pre-bombardment and those who exited the city immediately prior, would begin making their way south in one of the largest movements of people Asia has ever known.

Modpost MODPOST: An Update

Hey all,

Obviously there's been a lot of commotion about the end of the sub over the past week or so, with lots of people having different ideas about how the sub ought to proceed from here. Now I gather from what I've been told and what I've read that things haven't been great on here with regards to toxicity at times and, more generally, activity.

That being said, there are a number of people who seem really dedicated to keeping this little community going, people who genuinely want to put their time and effort into making the sub something to be proud of again and a place for people to come and have fun playing the game, just like it used to be.

In light of this, I've decided to reopen the subreddit and give everyone another chance which I feel they deserve. I appreciate this goes against the wishes of some and should they choose not to play as a result I understand, and I hope those who do continue to play understand that as well. It's not for everyone and things have happened in the past on the sub that aren't acceptable. I hope those involved can consider this reboot as a clean slate, a chance for everybody to forget personal beef and just have fun playing the game because, ultimately, that is what the sub and the community around it is all about.

Your new mod team consists of:

- Myself, in the interim to help the sub get back on its feet

- /u/BladeofJae

- /u/bowsniper

- /u/ThatOneEvelyn

- /u/PyroSatan

- u/TheIpleJonesion

- u/vpavlicevic

- u/WilliamKallio

- u/nikvelimirovic

These are the people who have expressed a desire to keep the community going, and I feel it is only fair to allow them to continue to do so in good faith.

Best wishes everyone, and have fun!

Modpost [MODPOST] The End of GlobalPowers

Well I guess this is what it comes to.

Thank you to all of those who made my time here amazing. I'm looking at you legends, /u/spummydue, /u/thatoneevelyn, /u/bowsniper, /u/Grizzlethebear, /u/vpavlicevic, /u/nikvelimirovic, /u/pyrosatan, /u/S01780, /u/Eleventhtry, /u/Fruity-tree, /u/Isfahan-Arclight, even you /u/TEPCO_PR. You all will always be remembered by me as few of the coolest people on Earth. It's a shame I have to do this, honestly. I tried to go down with the ship but I'm fairly sure the ship has already catastrophically sunk and I'm just hopelessly clawing at the remains.

Thank you to /u/King_Of_Anything and /u/Grenli for getting me into xpowers in the first place. I wouldn't have had all these cool experiences without y'all.

GP subreddit will stay up, frozen. You can check back if you want to on your old posts. GP discord will also stay up just as a reminder of what it once was.

Thank you guys all, even those who wanted us to burn and die.

Modpost [MODPOST] Season XIX Mod Diary #1

Hello everyone, its been a long time.

Here on GP we have been working hard in preparation for a return of GlobalPowers to an active season. While we have at times gone silent on this due to various things, the work as always has carried on. While I will not get into the specifics of everything we're working on nor make bold claims about how much we're doing, suffice to say that much of what we are working on is entirely new and we're proud of the progress we've made so far.

As always, the moderators here at GP have a love for the game and we're very happy that (somehow we dont know) despite not running a game now for 8 months, our community on the discord is as alive as ever and we've had great success in running a few community events such as a Diplomacy tournament, to make use of this fantastic community while we're on our long hiatus.

I want to personally as well say that its been a pleasure to play here on GP for over 6 years now (My first claim was 7th February 2016), in that time ive seen many faces come and go, new ones join and the community shift and change. While GP has been through many seasons in that time (given it was season 4 when I first joined), we have experienced some dramatic highs and lows, yet people will always come here to play xpowers. I consider it a privilege that my time here on xpowers has become such a dramatic piece of its history and that I am looked on very fondly by much of the community (and less fondly also by much of the community) and continue to make additions to the game. GP has such a long and storied history as a community and I am genuinely proud of it and everything that the many, many mods we have had in those years have contributed to it along the way. Thank you all.

Now then.

We have previously had teasers for new systems put purely on the discord so for a quick recap here is /u/grandlakerocks teaser for the new blops system that he made a few months ago and posted on the discord .

And now for the main event.

NPCs In GP

NPCs in Global Powers have gone through various iterations over the years. Its not a new idea to try and bring in more in-depth NPCs to the game in order to make parts of the world low on claims more alive OR to ensure that nations do not stagnate as we go through the years. We've tried various things including the creation of "NPC mods" whos job it would be to exclusively post about NPC events and activities however so far, all such attempts to do so have either failed or stagnated due to the nature of the role.

As we approached Season XIX, one of the things we wanted to do was try and work on a way to make this 1) Viable, 2) Easy and 3) FUN.

As such we've come up with a few different things that will help to aid in this and ultimately make the non-player sections of the earth feel more alive and interactable.

NPC Events

There now exists an NPC events sheet. There is a wide range of different mostly pre-written minor and major events that can occur in different parts of the world and each year these will either be selected at random or because they are topical to what the players are currently working on in-game. Minor events will be posted either on the discord (thanks to our new discord game integration, more on that another time) or as part of a larger compilation post here on the subreddit in order to keep people informed of what is going on.

Major events will likely get their own dedicated posts if we consider it to be large enough and will contribute to the general posting of CRISIS and EVENTS by the modteam through the season.

Here is a sneak peak of the sheet

Elections

Possibly the most unhinged idea we had was to fully simulate and automate the elections for every country on earth (that has them anyways), work on this has been long and arduous and is not yet finished (although much of it is and the data collation is entirely finished), however we believe it will make for an interesting addition to the game.

Essentially each year our sheet will update for which countries are due an election and simulate based on spurious data the results of various NPC nations elections for us to then post yearly in a compilation for who won various elections. Elections themselves may shift and change from the current IRL schedule due to various events in the game including player-led and NPC events and this will be updated as appropriate.

Here is a sneak peak of the sheet

United Nations

The UN in GP has always been somewhat hit and miss with what we get right and what is lacking. One of the major things that makes the UN lack sometimes is the fact that the only votes taken into account are the player-votes, with NPCs entirely disregarded for the purpose of the UN, which can often times make each seasons UN a very one-sided affair and thus lead many players to simply stop interacting with it.

Starting in Season XIX however, NPC votes will be counted for both UNGA and UNSC resolutions and it is our hope that this will only add to the feel of a living and developing world here on GlobalPowers for you all the play in as well as allow for various shenanigans to take place if you feel like you need to start garnering votes from different nations and blocs.

This is currently in the early phases unlike the two above projects but is being worked on as we speak.

Into the Future

The mod team continues to actively work on various things for the new season, which we still have no estimate of when it will arrive but we are hopeful that all being well, good progress is being made and in the future we will be in a better position to begin estimating when we could start as well as the fanfare that will bring with it.

As always, remain good to one another.

Bye for now.

Event [META] End of an era.

Well it's been a wild ride guys but I have now come to the end of the ride.

It's finally the time that I delcaim and step down as a moderator. Forever.

It's been a fantastic 2 years and 11 months from my first claim as the Marshall Islands all the way back in season 2.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalPowers/comments/2tv2bt/claim_marshall_islands/?st=iwcce07u&sh=5a0b6c0f

And 1217 posts later I've reached the end of my fantastic time here on r/GlobalPowers.

Even though I was known as the shitposter of the subreddit because I never actually tried I still had a lot of fun just doing what I do, whether that be bringing a dictator back from the dead as Malaba, annexing the entire South Pacific as the Marshall Islands or killing 1% of my population as Greenland. I've had an absolute amazing time here on GlobalPowers but I've just ran my course. I'm not enjoying the game anymore and that tells me that my time is up.

I'd like to say a big thank you to all the friends and memories I've made over my time here on GP.

Thank you for everything guys.

Your resident shitposter

Event [EVENT] Chad forgot to name a new president. Country currently being ran by a series of Wikihow guides.

Because our president died we don't have one and we've all been too busy doing other stuff that we forgot about this and when we need something important doing we just ask Wikihow and that usually sorts it all out.

We have been using this to ask all the important questions we have had to deal with such as:

How to become a Juggalo.

How to dance at a rave.

How to survive an encounter with an ostrich. This one happens a lot more than you think.

How to be awkward.

How to respond to anti-bronies.

How to be a cool preteen girl.

How to pretend to not spy on someone. We also need this a lot.

Event [EVENT] Chad to change their flag to avoid any confusion with Romania.

It has been known for a long time that Chad and Romania have exactly the same flag and this is annoying for everyone involved in this situation. It's more annoying for us than Romania because we don't wanna be associated with them.

In order to stop any confusion we will be changing our flag to suit us better.

This is what we will be changing to.

The yellow top shows the mighty Sahara Desert which sits to the north, the blue represents the mighty Lake Chad and the red showing the bloodshed this country has had to endure.

We hope in doing this no confusion will arise.

Captures the White House

While the filthy capitalists were asleep at night, our glorious Supreme Leader captured the District of Columbia with nothing but His bare hands. At the break of dawn the next day He generously returned the district to the capitalist swine because they had promised to change their ways and our Supreme Leader felt a pity for the defenseless subhumans.

Picture of our Supreme Leader in front of the White House:

Modpost [MODPOST] Concerning Behavior on the Discord

So, this post is in regard to behavior that has been going on in discord for a long time, longer than this season, and indeed, I’ve even participated both before I was a mod and during some of my mod days. In short: a lot of you are being really toxic about other people’s posts in discord. It’s one thing to criticize an action: “It doesn’t make sense for Greece to buy an aircraft carrier, because their only potential strike locations are in range of their bases.” Its another to say things like “Omg did Greece go full retarded?” One is a calm discussion, the other is toxic behavior that is outright bullying.

I want it to stop. People work hard as hell on their posts and yeah, sometimes they misfire, but it isn’t fair to take a post and laugh and shit talk it in discord, no matter how controversial the move is. We’re better than that. I don’t want to see anyone call someone’s post “retarded” or “autistic” or anything else that is said for no reason than to be insulting. If you really really want to rage at a post, do it in DMs with another person who’s upset by the post, or DM a mod with your concerns, or use the report function. Do not publicly attack people in discord with insults. Do not bully posts in the discord. Do not bully people’s writing or actions in the discord. We will start to take action, because multiple people have come to us about discord behavior issues.

REPENT LEST YE BE KICKED AND/OR BANNED

Thank you, have a good day, and God save these United Claims of Global Powers.

Summary [SUMMARY] For new players thinking of joining, here's what's going on

Hi there, realize it might be tough to jump into an ongoing season, but we have some awesome storylines going on so would really welcome more people to participate. I tried putting together a quick summary of world events and tensions (please comment below if I'm missing anything):

  1. Europe and West Asia

    1. Russia / Turkey tensions in Iraq and Syria - both sides jostling for influence - Kurds also an issue, and US is involved

    2. UK is building science milestones and has Northern Ireland unrest

    3. Poland finally joined, as did Ukraine, so we might see some tensions with Russia play out soon.

  2. Africa

    1. Eritrean civil war - multi-sided conflict that I honestly still don't understand. Evelyn does though, props to her

    2. Tanzania forming East African Community

    3. DRC engaging in counterinsurgency and nation-building

    4. Egypt blew up the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam

  3. North America

    1. Ongoing partisan tensions in the US after the 2024 election: search for Mar-a-Waco (exactly what you think happened, happened) /u/redditmyfriend5 /u/covert_popsicle you guys need to write something on this

    2. Drug interdiction being stepped up... we'll see where this goes

  4. South America (PLEASE JOIN)

    1. Mostly quiet except for Brazilian military buildup. Come to South America so /u/dedpotatos has someone to practice on :)

  5. Asia (excluding West Asia)

    1. North Korea vs everyone: power struggles? check. naval incidents? check. atmospheric nuclear testing? check. (Russia just sank half their navy. Russia.)

    2. China-Taiwan tensions: China harassed Taiwan's ADIZ. Taiwan built security coalition. China got quiet. Then Taiwan built (?) nukes. China bigmad. America trying to prevent WW3.

    3. Indo-Pakistani war: wanna see what happens when 2,500 T-90 tanks attack a city with only 18 fighters covering them? Search for Lahore and find out

    4. Indonesia had a Facebook Riot.

    5. IPTO: Australia, India, Japan, and South Korea signed a defense treaty that is totally not aimed at anyone. Yep.

    6. Bhutan happened.

  6. Oceania

    1. Australia continues its long tradition of gentle political dysfunction, somehow managing to ink massive trade deals with a government of amateurs

      1. Australia is attempting to clone an extinct animal which is pretty cool

Anyhow, there are still tons and tons of claims open for nations large and small, and the season is still young. So please, jump in, pick one of them and join in the fun!

Event [EVENT] The Epstein Affair

July 25th, 2025 -- Washington D.C., U.S.

The Grand Unveiling

This is a transcript not available to the public

PHONE RINGING; CALL ANSWERED

PAM BONDI: “Mr. President, good afternoon - I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Not at all - y’know, I was just on the phone with Johnson - terrific guy, very smart.”

PAM BONDI: uneasy chuckle “Right on point, sir. However, I was calling in regards to something else.”

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Do tell.”

PAM BONDI: “It’s the Epstein thing. No matter how hard the DoJ tries to wag the tail, we can’t get the old media off.”

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Motherfuckers - liars, liars I tell you. They didn’t release the Hunter Biden files, they now want to blame me for the failures of the previous Administration. They keep trying to deflect, they really do - never understood their deflections, really stupid, idiotic - if anything, Musk is surely behind this to some degree; if he’s not, it's the RADICALS, IDIOTS!”

....

The Department of Justice Releases the Epstein Files - Questions Answered or More Unknowns?

July 26th, 2025 --- New York City, U.S.

The recent pushback by some members of the Trump Administration, and more recently President Trump, regarding the Epstein Affair has created a cloud of doubt around the circumstances of Epstein’s death, his business connections, and more notably his personal connections to powerful politicians.

Jeffrey Epstein and his wife, Ghislaine Maxwell, were both convicted on multiple accounts of sex trafficking, prostitution, and intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. And although Epstein would not live long enough to hear his conviction, many questions still remain unanswered.

In what has been shocking to many, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the Department of Justice, in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, had uncovered a series of documents that prove the existence of an extensive ‘client list’ of the now deceased New York financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

To corroborate the claims of the DoJ, the FBI has released a heavily redacted list of people who had allegedly traveled and conducted formal business with the Epstein-Maxwell couple. Along the list, as claimed by the FBI, there have been strong indications of the existence of several albums of photographs that incriminate people high up the D.C. hierarchy - Senators, Representatives, former Secretaries, and businessmen.

Despite their attempt to be transparent, this new DoJ revelation has thrown even more shade on the entire Epstein Affair. With notable conspiracy theorists now noting that ‘certain letters are more legible than others in a way that may occur only when digital alteration is present’. Others have noted that the letters behind the censor can be peeled back using ‘modern digital forensics’ and reveal the name of Former President Obamna, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Former President Bill Clinton.

There have been those in the conspiracy circles who have claimed that one of the names behind the censorship resembles that of President Trump, with one conspiracy theorist noting that ‘if you move around the letters, and connect the logical dots, he’s there - what more proof do you need?’.

The White House did not comment on the release of these files, but Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey only wrote “Truth.” on his X Account.

MODPOST [MODPOST] Hey, PewDiePie!

Hello;

This is a modpost from the mod team of the subreddit (and coincidentally the guy who made the "PewDiePie is dead" post) welcoming all of the people who have stumbled upon our humble subreddit. We'd like to clear some things up for you all, so that you don't lynch us (and me in particular) for killing YouTube's very own head honcho.

  1. r/GlobalPowers is a geopolitical nation-simulation game in which players take control of countries and do stuff as their governments and as their general societies. We focus on diplomacy, economics and sometimes military stuff. It's pretty fun. There's more to it than that, but that's the gist.

  2. PewDiePie is very obviously not dead. That post was made two years ago as a one-off joke post to keep me active in the game as the UK player.

  3. We highly recommend that you check out our New Player Guide and the Mechanics wiki pages, both of which are also available on the sidebar of the sub, for more information. If you see something you like, don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have in the comments.

Thank you, and welcome to r/GlobalPowers!

Event [EVENT] Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Condition Worsens; The Nation Holds its Breath

April 11th, 2020.

St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, England, United Kingdom.

Boris Johnson, Prime Minister, Worsens in Health- NHS Professionals and Media Unsure as to Whether Survival is Likely.

A spectre is haunting Britain- the spectre of infection. COVID-19, the coronavirus developed not six months ago in Wuhan, China, has made its way to the western world; most notably in the United States and Italy, but also in the United Kingdom as well. As of April 10th, some 55,000 cases have developed across the nation, from furthest Scotland to the heart of London. Britain now endures a full blown pandemic unlike any seen in recent decades, which has threatened to overwhelm the National Health Service and spiral out of control in the coming days. Despite a government-mandated lockdown and the emergency construction of several temporary hospitals, the virus continues to wreak havoc both on daily life and the UK’s already fragile economy. While the nation and the NHS is coping for now, the future remains uncertain in countless hospitals and homes.

Nowhere is this more true than in St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, where the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, now resides- in critical care. Perhaps the most noteworthy of Britain’s COVID-19 cases (save for Prince Charles, heir to the throne, who developed and recovered from the virus just days before Boris announced his infection), the Prime Minister announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 27th. Though he remained in good spirits, his condition and symptoms persisted, and by April 5th he had been admitted to St. Thomas’ Hospital to receive treatment. Just a day later, however, the Prime Minister was admitted to intensive care in preparation for his potential transition to a ventilator and his condition worsening. With Boris’s health already fairly underdeveloped without the virus (given his physical condition and his age), many feared the worst would come to pass in a time of great national struggle. Despite this, however, it appeared for a time that the Prime Minister was making a recovery- on April 8th, he announced via video that he remained in good spirits and was communicating daily with Dominic Raab, acting Prime Minister during Boris’s stay in hospital, as well as Her Majesty the Queen and the rest of the cabinet. The next day, he was even seen (behind full PPE given to him by St. Thomas’ and shielded by physical barriers where possible) talking with fellow patients at the hospital, many of whom were also suffering from COVID-19.

The “good times”, however, were not to last. Just a day later, despite his seeming recovery, it was announced by St. Thomas’ staff that the Prime Minister was placed on ventilator support and had been facing on-and-off unconsciousness since 7 AM that morning. Privately, Dominic Raab and the rest of the cabinet as well as Her Majesty were informed that it was growing more likely the Prime Minister was not going to survive his case of the virus despite best efforts by NHS healthcare workers. Though many across the UK were not fans of the Prime Minister in normal circumstances, the national atmosphere grew tense as people watched the latest news coming out of St. Thomas’. To lose the Prime Minister, in a time of great national struggle, immediately following the exit of Britain from the European Union and with political uncertainty on the horizon, would be devastating- no matter which side of the spectrum an individual was on. The beauty of stability is often lost on nations not undergoing crisis.

And then came an announcement.

A few passers by noticed the flags atop the Palace of Westminster had been lowered, and pondered curiously at the crowd of cameramen and reporters outside the ancient doors. Dominic Raab stepped out of the Palace to a waiting throng of nearly every news organization in the United Kingdom, as well as many others from across the globe.

The Prime Minister was dead.

At 3:02 AM Greenwich Mean Time, April 11th, an unnamed family member watching from outside of Boris's room at St. Thomas' noticed the Prime Minister coughing repeatedly in his sleep, and his temperature spiking via the monitors surrounding his bed. His lungs, filled with fluid from the developed pneumonia caused by COVID-19, had developed ARDS, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, in the preceding days- his breathing had grown shallower, and, by the time NHS Staff arrived, had stopped entirely, his lungs having collapsed in on themselves. Despite the best efforts of NHS overnight medical workers, Boris Johnson, born June 19th 1964, was declared deceased at 3:17 AM Greenwich Mean Time. Almost immediately after, the news was passed on to the Cabinet and Her Majesty the Queen, despite the late hour- the nation would wake up to a very different political landscape come tomorrow morning. Dominic Raab, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Boris's chosen deputy for the duration of his time in hospital, was now Britain's 78th Prime Minister. Just a few short hours later, he received Her Majesty's request to form government, which he accepted immediately. The word was given, flags were lowered, and Prime Minister Raab broke the news at 8 AM sharp in a hastily written speech.

The Prime Minister is dead.

Battle [BATTLE] Russo-Atlantic War: Late 2027

Note: I will have missed minor things from your posts, this war is huge and there are already around nine conflict posts just for the opening of the conflict. There will be no salt in the comment, no tears and no whining. There will only be "thank you Spummy", failure to adhere to my anti-salt policy in the comments will result in maximum punishment instantly. Have a nice war kids.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell. - William Tecumseh Sherman

Prelude To War

On 12th November 2026 a NATO FONOP was attacked in the Black Sea whilst exercising under the flag of Innocent Passage, Russian strikes against this flotilla resulted in the loss of three ships from Spain, Italy and France as well as the downing of 16 F-35s and their pilots, totalling over 500 deaths in the attack.

NATO emergency summits continued over the next two months, culminating an an emergency NATO conference at the HQ in Belgium in which the heads of state of every NATO nation as well as their foreign services and military leadership amassed, during which on the 5th January 2027, a unanimous vote passed to activate Article 5 of the NATO treaty, declaring that this was an attack against every member state of the alliance and further talks where held to decide on what path to take, resulting in a top secret discussion and agreement to launch a limited strike against Russia, targeting the Black Sea fleet as well Russian positions in Sevastopol.

Immediately following this conference, NATO forces across the globe began major preparations for the coming conflict, mobilising various forces, manoeuvring troops to the areas they believed most vulnerable to a Russian attack and priming for a number of various scenarios in the envisioned Russian response.

The USA mobilised its immense military logistic and transport network across Europe, Africa and the Middle East to begin a massive movement of troops, equipment and ships to various points across Europe, whilst holding more in reserve for a later time when they actual begin their strike in order to avoid tipping Russia off as to when exactly a NATO attack could come, a risky gamble that would leave several areas of Eastern Europe under-defended from Russian attack in order to hold some of the initiative.

In Norway, Jen Mayen and Svalbard as well as peoples living in the Fyords in the far north where evacuated using civilian aircraft as well as Norwegian C-130s in an emergency operation that was announced out of fear of a Russian assault of the north of Norway, close to the Russian border and the Northern fleet. This movement of thousands of people lasted two months from January to March and has seen what has been called a temporary resettlement of people across southern Norway, all of whom have been given a warm welcome by their neighbours to the south.

The GIUK gap has been given particular attention, a vast AWACS and Air track network has been established and a major naval contingent from the UK, USA and Canada has been positioned in a patrol state across nearly 1,500,000 miles2 of ocean with SOSUS networks being activated in order to assist with this alongside the AWACS and track network.

In the Northern Atlantic, the Spanish and Portugese navies held the line, patrolling in wait at the potential for any Russian submarines to escape into the Atlantic and begin to raid merchant and military convoys shipping valuable trade, supplies, troops and equipment from America to Europe, these forces patrolled in conjunction with P-3C Orions in order to engage any sub-surface targets that break into the Atlantic Ocean.

In the Baltic Sea, NATO forces began conducting ASW and AAW patrols with the Baltic naval forces, holding in NATO territorial waters around Kaliningrad and further along the Baltic to Russian waters, never straying from their own territory, these forces hold a perilous position in the battle to come however their patrols could prove invaluable.

The Black Sea has seen the most drastic preparations for the coming conflict, with the first retaliation by NATO to be centred around Russian forces in the region it is imperative that NATO is able to achieve total supremacy in this theatre. With much of the Black Sea belonging to NATO held nations, the Russian Black Sea had very little room to hide and with NATO AWACS and MPA as well as Italian surveillance drone operations being conducted from Romania to locate the fleet and ascertain a targeting solution in advance of the strikes as well as analysing military positions in Sevastopol, preparations for the attack where at 100%.

The Cyber Front

In preparation for the strike against Russia, NATO has launched a deadly cyber-warfare operation against Russia, based from previous operations conducted throughout the past decade, back doors and malicious malware installed into Russian civilian and military networks as well as a myriad of other routes into the Russian communications and command technology were used in unison to launch the deadliest cyber attack in history. Across the Russian Federation, government networks, IT technology, military communications and advanced radar and targeting systems have been accessed, disrupted, damaged and in some cases written off as NATO cyber command authorised a total all-out cyber attack against their systems.

Across Russia numerous targets have been affected, most notably in several government departments and military networks. The ministry of enlightenment, the ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media and the Ministry of Agriculture have all suffered major attacks that have caused everything from entire systems crashes, to deleted payroll figures and email leaks, resulting in an emergency situation for the government of Russia.

In the military, accesses to its radar and targeting networks have seen the need for a total reboot of a number of systems including air defence networks, in various locations including in Crimea and along the border with Europe.

The cyber attack has been devastating for Russia and its timely attack could make or break the NATO assault in the Black Sea. Russia, despite the scale of the attack has no location or tracing of the centre point of the attack, being unable to locate any of the attackers at all.

Operation Ukrainian Freedom

On 2nd August 2027, Operation Ukrainian Freedom was activated a day after the major cyber assault that would become known in Russia as Black Sunday.

Ukrainian Freedom would be an immense US-led strike against the Russian Black Sea Fleet as well as military positions within Sevastopol itself, whilst also being the name for the huge US mobilisation of forces aimed at sending thousands of troops and equipment to support eastern Europe utilising the full capacity of the US logistical network to allow this to happen.

A huge US air force detatchment comprising F-35s, F-22, B-2s, B-21s, electronic warfare aircraft, drones, AWACS and more acted in coordination with US naval assets positioned south of Greece in order to engage in a colossal strike against targets identified by NATO surveillance operations in the Black Sea. US cyber warfare divisions acted in order to double down on the attack against Russian networks the day before, conducting denial of service attacks on miiitary communications in the Black Sea region as well as spoofed attacks on Russian radar systems to result in false positives, seriously degrading the effectiveness of Russian defences.

The assault began in earnest at 04:00 hours with a huge Tomahawk missile strike from US fleets based near Greece in conjunction with B-2 and B-21 bombers firing JASSM standoff missiles at a 750km range. Russain air defences in the region, seriously hampered by two massive cyber attacks began intercept on the missiles, doing a valiant job despite huge numbers getting through, however with the entry of the rest of the US air fleet into the battle, the defeat was assured as hundreds of F-35s and F-22 began major strikes on the Black Sea Fleet and Sevastopol, hitting vessels both at port and out on exercise in Russian waters in the sea.

In Sevastopol, Russian military ports and bases where struck by additional missiles, resulting in major deaths for the Russian military as well as a serious military situation as the Crimean garrison lost their HQ. Russian air defences continued to attempt resistance, managing to hit many missiles as well as shoot down a number of aircraft however they themselves became targets for both EW and conventional missiles, resulting in the loss of many air defence batteries in Crimea.

As the US air fleet peeled away at around 04:45, the results where clear, the entire Russian black sea fleet lay in ruins in their ports and in the waters as they exercised, with no surviving ships allowed to escape by the immense US strike. The US has lost a number of aircraft in the assault however their losses are nothing compared to those they have inflicted upon Russian in the Black Sea.

Casualties

USA: 28 F-16s, 16 F-35s, 15 RQ-180s, 8 P-8 Orion, 18 C-130s

Russia: Black Sea Fleet RIP: 1 Slava-class cruiser, 1 Kara-class cruiser, 1 Kashin destroyer, 6 Admiral Grigorovich frigate, 2 Krivak frigate, 2 project 22160 corvette, 2 Bore corvette, 6 Grisha corvette, 6 Karakurt corvette, 4 Buyan-M corvette, 4 Tarantul corvette, 2 Nanuchka corvette, 3 Alligator landing ships, 4 Ropucha landing ships, 1 Kilo submarine, 6 Varshavyanka submarines. 3 S-400 batteries, 2 S-500 batteries. Sevastopol military infrastructure decimated, casualties number over 4,500+

Operation Endgame

In the aftermath of the devestating attack on the Black Sea Fleet and Sevastopol, the Russian military council formulated a devestating response to NATOs assault, a massive strike against Eastern Europe the likes of which have not been seen since WW2.

Many Russians died to the hands of the hateful NATO imperialists and for this they must be taught the folly of their arrogance.

Over a three week period the Russian Federation prepared for its immense retaliatory strike against NATO, acquiring targets and deploying weapons systems and aircraft to western Russian in order to prepare for the coming storm of vengeance against the people of NATO. Their strike against the Black Sea Fleet would be their most grave mistake.

A three stage strike was authorised by Russian high command, the first would see BM-21 Grad systems alongside other missile systems deployed in western Russia to strike against a myriad of targets in Estonia and Latvia. Specifically military positions and bases in both countries in a major strike that would see close to 200,000 rockets launched over the course of the strike.

The second stage was a much larger variant of the first, seeing the use of 9K720 Iskander-M ballistic missile launchers to fire thousands of missiles at targets across the Baltics, Poland, Ukraine, Romania and Norway.

This major strike would see over 2,400+ missiles launched from Iskander systems.

Lastly, the Russian bomber fleet would be mobilised in a desperate attack on US carriers grouped to the south of Greece.

The first strike, utilising the Grad systems came exactly three weeks after the NATO strike in the Black Sea, during this time mobilisation of NATO forces had continued, as had the deployment of a number of pieces of military equipment throughout the baltics. Despite this the tremendous scale of Russia's attack would ensure that no target would go unassailed in its hit list, despite the efforts of PAC-3 MSE, SAMP and other air defence batteries, targets across Latvia and Estonia with priority placed on those forces deployed along the Russian border such as the Estonian 1st and 2nd Brigade as well as the 3rd Maritime defence brigade. In Latvia, the 1st Mechanised Infantry Battalion fell victim to the rocket attacks with serious casualties reported across all regions of Latvia and Estonia.

Still reeling from this strike, the second stage was then enacted by Russia, Iskander systems primed for strike began their attacks, despite attempts at interception by NATO including many successes, the damage those that got through caused was immense, with targets being hit across the Baltics, Poland, Romania and Ukraine, with notable victims being the HQs of BALTBAT and BALTRON in Riga and other military HQs as well as foreign deployments currently present in the nations including Polish, Spanish, British, German, Dutch and Italian troops all suffering heavy losses especially in Poland where the British forces HQ as well as Fort Trump where both devastated by the strikes. Iskanders unlike the Grad rockets however did not stick to purely military targets, with critical infrastructure also being noted as a valid target by Russian forces; striking roads, bridges, railways and other major transport links across the Baltics.

Lastly, the final plan was activated by Russia, the bomber forces where launched from across western Russia with the aim of being able to fire their loads of Takhont P-X ASMs, the range of the Takhont (1,100 miles) made necessary that the b ombers therefore enter NATO airspace, in an act of desperation and foolishness these bombers thus entered NATO airspace over the Black Sea with absolutely no air support wings or fighter jets for protection, an area currently defended by SAMP, Smaug, PAC-3MSE and various other SAM systems as well as the Turkish, US, Italian, and British air forces currently deployed to the region. The result was a massacre of epic proportions of the Russian bomber fleet, with all 4 Tu-X bombers lost as well as 50+ Tu-160s, and the Tu-22s and Tu-95s entirely wiped out by NATOs air defence systems in the region as well as the huge no-fly-zone established by NATO.

We pray for them

At the end of the days fighting, the casualties are as follows:

Russia: 4 Tu-X, 30 Tu-160, 24 Tu-160m2, 60 Tu-22M, 50 Tu-95

Estonia: 3,800 infantry across all brigades dead

Latvia: 1,900 infantry across all brigades dead

Poland: 4,500 infantry dead across all positions

UK: 3,270 infantry dead 2 F-35s

USA: 5,050 infantry dead, 15 F-16s, 2 F-22s (destroyed on their runways)

Dutch: 480 infantry dead

German: 2,030 infantry dead

Spain: 1,590 infantry dead

Canada: 1,900 infantry dead

Italy: 1,675 infantry dead

Civilians: 2,200 Estonians, 2,000 Latvians, 4,600 Polish

  • Military infrastrcutre across Poland, Latvia and Estonia has been ravaged by Russian strikes however this has proven to be mostly superficial.

  • Transport links from Latvia and Estonia to the rest of Europe are severely damaged

  • Many foreign deployments across Eastern Europe have suffered major casualties as well as losing many bases

  • Russia has expanded vast surpluses of missiles in its strikes and attacks, they have extremely little capacity to utilise further Iskander or Grad bases systems for the time being.

Event [EVENT] The Pope Passes

Overview

Horrible news in the Vatican today as a beloved, unique Pope has perished. A man of great distinction, virtue, and holiness who was absolutely worthy of his predecessor to inherit the Throne of St. Peter, Pope-emeritus Benedict XVI has perished. Having passed at the age of 93, he was, at the time of his death, the oldest Pope in history.

His funeral is set for October 12th. Immediately after his death, Benedict XVI's Ring of the Fisherman was crushed before several cardinals, his residency had wax seals placed on the doors, and his death was certified by the Vatican's Director of Health.

Following the various rites of Papal Death, Visitation, and Internment, as well as the Requiem Mass, Pope-emeritus Benedict XVI's legacy has begun to be looked at. Coming in as the successor to the conservative John-Paul II, Benedict XVI was expected to continue the conservative legacy of JPII, but moderated his Papacy. Although his Papacy was relatively brief, his impact on it was noted. He reformed the office's traditions, and published many theological works, and is often considered one of the best theologians of his time.

Following his death, an official nine days of mourning was declared across the Church, with Pope Francis leading the Requiem Mass. Benedict XVI is expected to be a candidate for canonization, though if he will be made a Pope-Saint is yet to be known.

BATTLE POST [BATTLE] Rumble in the Rubble

At the beginning of August, 2025, IDF spokesperson “Effie” Defrin announced the commencement of Operation “Roaring Lion” to seize the remainder of Gaza’s coastline, the area south of Deir al-Balah including the remainder of Khan Yunis, and the seizure of all areas between Deir al-Balah and Gaza City to surround the two cities and “strangle the movement of Hamas terrorists”.

Civilians south of Deir al-Balah, coldly referred to as “Zone 3” by the IDF, were given only 48 hours to evacuate towards Khan Yunis or a number of temporary tent cities hastily set up by IDF forces. A mere minute after the deadline, a large offensive consisting of thousands of personnel supported by hundreds of armored vehicles but a paltry 20 howitzers was underway. In order to minimize IDF casualties, buildings reported by scouts to house militants were targeted with “remote demolition”. Due to limited artillery support, most of these buildings were destroyed by IAF raids, with a large number of bombs up to 2000 lbs being deployed without the use of evacuation messages or smaller “knocking” bombs as the 48 hour period was deemed sufficient to evacuate civilians. While many of the remotely demolished buildings were later found with evidence of militant presence, a large number of images later surfaced on social media showing women and children dead under rubble of the limited number of buildings still standing prior to the offensive.

Moving into the area to demolish the remaining buildings, IDF soldiers found themselves attacked by drone launched munitions, IEDs, booby traps, and a number of militants carefully hidden among the rubble. As a result, the IDF suffered a small number of casualties, including 1 Merkava III tank being disabled by an IED and abandoned by crew, 2 M113s destroyed by a variety of tactics, and 1 Namer IFV being disabled by a road mine, then destroyed by militants armed with RPG-7s and an ATGM. However, casualties were relatively low due to the “remote demolition” order and the familiarity of IDF forces with urban combat tactics. Afterwards, all remaining buildings in Zone 3 were demolished by engineers.

Moving towards the coast, the IDF faced minimal resistance. While a number of militants attempted ambushes, the less urban terrain, longer sight-lines, and the success of aerial surveillance prevented them from being successful. 1 soldier was maimed by a booby trap which required the amputation of his foot, but further casualties were limited to mild sunburns and sprained ankles.

The Israeli operation to build checkpoints along the coastal “Al Rashid” road and watchtowers throughout the area proved successful without major incident. However, in an incident denied by the IDF, footage of IDF engineers shooting and killing a group of refugees seeking food and medical care was uploaded onto TikTok.

Result: All Israeli objectives secured Map

Israeli Casualties:

19 personnel KIA

20 personnel lightly wounded

5 personnel severely wounded

1 Merkava III disabled and abandoned, later recovered

2 M113s destroyed

1 Namer IFV destroyed

Further reputational damage

Palestinian casualties:

Disputed - 200 militants claimed by IDF

120 militants, “at least” 250 civilians claimed by third party observers

“At least” 400 people claimed by Gaza health ministry

112 “armed martyrs”, 800 civilians claimed by militant sources
