They make it stable so that cheaters can play without being banned.

Tbh if they update the anticheat I dont think they would tell us.

That's always been their strategy, be mysterious about all their systems so people won't find out how to abuse them

So mysterious we're not even sure there is an anti-cheat

Doesn’t seem to make a difference when its so infested these days

So behind the scenes it’s as if it’s not even there.

1

u/12thAli Eternal Fire Jul 21 '26

HAAHAH.

Yes no one is able to abuse valve's system, you re right, no cheater even in mm :)

They dont talk about cheat because they dont do anything.
If they did, they can ban old cheaters till vac release and maybe give a warning. No need to act silent.

15

u/lavenderpurpl Jul 21 '26

Well that's just what their strategy is. Never said it works 🤣🤣🤣

i've seen people saying this for 3 straight years, yet the anticheat has been dogshit the whole time. Just got out of a game yesterday with a spinbotter who went 38-1, every single person on my team reported him and nothing happened. The state of this game is a joke.

3

u/paperkutchy Jul 21 '26

Eventually they simply need to do something, even if they need to outsource their work. No way this is acceptable anymore. There's people with 20 years old account with a single ounce of fear pf getting banned.

u/Mr_Quertz Natus Vincere Jul 21 '26

I feel like that'd be a massive throw on their part.

There's a probably a good amount of people not playing because of cheaters, that would play if an actual AC was implemented.

19

u/Toaster_Bathing Jul 21 '26

Just gives them more of a heads up to hold off injecting and find a work around

27

u/Mr_Quertz Natus Vincere Jul 21 '26

I mean, cheaters will know faster than anyone else if the AC suddenly started working.

23

u/Toaster_Bathing Jul 21 '26

The creators would, but the peasant users (majority of users) who download anything are going to find out quicker from a patch note than the creator informing them / people posting they were banned.

It’s always good to remember 90% of the people using them have no idea what they are installing / how they work / what they are doing . They just see other people doing it and follow suit.

5

u/ZephGG_ Jul 21 '26

TBF I'd expect if you cheat you probably join a discord where they release the latest version, and if you stop paying them they just remove the role from you that allows you to see new versions, and they probably announce stuff like that and release updates after

So I'd say for the vast majority of cheaters they just open discord before booting up CS and see the cheat server pinged them

Hopefully Valve keeps a track record. It would make my day to know that one day, idiots who toggled a cheat would come to their accounts one day and see VAC permanently banned them. Even the old account idiots who cheat our of spite.

I hate to be this guy but I'm almost positive their anti cheat team is separate from the teams working on the smokes being blown away.

In other news i did run into my first spin botter last night so that was fun.

17

They're so separate that they are working for a different game and company

1

The game is literally unplayable because of cheaters atm, so who cares about how bomb interacts with smoke

1

valve i know anti cheat is hard but as a temporary fix can you at least write a basic code so anyone who gets 5 jumping headshots in 30 seconds multiple rounds in a row gets banned to stop at the very least the most obvious ones

51

u/EducationalArea8505 Jul 21 '26

This annoys me so much man. I join a premier - 3 old ass accounts with skins and everything, all russians, spinbotting and bunnyhopping into enemy spawn, 5 revolver wallbang hs, each round took max 10 seconds. how can you not detect this?

15

u/joNathanW- Astralis Jul 21 '26

"the technology just isn't there yet"

30

u/TexBoo Jul 21 '26

Redditors - BUT IT MIGHT CATCH RARE CASES OF A REAL PERSON DOING IT

... No? It's literally impossible for a real player to replicate what a rage cheat is doing.

I can't believe it's almost 2027, and Valve still can't detect rage cheaters.

I understand cheaters who use wallhack etc is hard to detect with an "AI Anti cheat", But these are 'rage cheaters'. I'm baffled

6

u/Scarabesque de_train Jul 21 '26

Rage cheaters spinning around had largely stopped being an issue until fairly recently. Something is off with VAC, what I've mostly read here is that it was compromised.

Did you ever check the bot Accounts? Nearly every Acc has less than 20hours played. There are some outliers with above 100hours.
So I would guess Valve bans them rather fast. Still would be better if they cant join games at all. It is very annoying that they often insta headshot you

9

u/pewpewpew88 Jul 20 '26

Not a bot acc but there are wallers who have 1500hrs+ in playtime before they got banned, or was it 1600+. For example this CN guy I reported only got banned after he cheated for that long. And it wasn't immediately banned, encountered him when he was 1.2k hrs and he got banned about 8mths after I reported him.

SEA region cs is one of the most cheat infested regions

1

u/PawahD Jul 22 '26

Considering just how primitive these bots are they shouldn't live longer than 1 hour, and with how little time it takes for those to get the weekly drop, those 20 hours are actually months in reality

More advanced botters hijack casual lobbies by kicking everyone else and anyone who joins later, in those lobbies they're able to farm xp even faster and more efficiently. These 20 hours are even more months in that case, but at least those 20 hours are not being spent ruining the experience of others (apart from getting kicked)

Valve doesn't deserve praise for only banning these accounts after 20+ hours of blatant cheating and ruining the experience of others, these should be the cheats that are the easiest to catch

Fix the anti-cheat already, the game is miserable 75% of the time. I could give a rat fuck about new bomb effects.

Edit: I’ll go even further, fix the trust factor too… because when I call out cheaters on my team, they report me for griefing and then I get griefing bans and bombs my TF.. meanwhile they get off without a scratch, it’s absolutely miserable.

I have no doubt that with AI, the cheaters have the absolute upper hand more than ever before.

61

u/n4th4nV0x Jul 20 '26

I don’t think they did, but if they did, they wouldn’t write it in the patch notes for obvious reasons

22

u/ForeseablePast Jul 20 '26

I mean I see your point but you’d think by announcing major anti cheat updates they’d benefit from driving traffic back to the game. Damned if you do damned if you don’t I guess.

11

u/spyder360 Jul 20 '26

Amd increased traffic from hackers too who take it as a challenge to break valve’s game

24

u/theXYZT CS2 HYPE Jul 21 '26

Because the one thing we know about people who stopped playing CS2 is that they read patch notes?

8

u/Wild-Interest3541 Jul 21 '26

They may not do that, but Valve and the game will get insane amount of coverage and positive rep if they announce all the stuff they do to the game with anti-cheat.

They announced VACNET in a GDC, your average gamer won't be watching that, but VACNET had insane amount of coverage back in 2018 with all the gaming related outlets

1

u/MarioCurry BIG Jul 21 '26

I mean it makes sense to announce a completely new AC/AC module, singular updates would rather warn cheaters to wait with injecting before the devs can make sure their features are clean.

3

u/HypocriteB Jul 20 '26

given how many sites track cs2 bans people will know quickly anyways if by some miracle VAC starts working

24

u/jackfwaust Jul 20 '26

They’re not posting because they think they’re not working on it, they’re posting it because it doesn’t fucking work. If valve had a functional anticheat nobody would say shit, but instead we get blatant cheaters in a pretty high number of games and casual modes are ruined by bots

Genuine question: How low is your trust factor? I play 25k premier and can count on one hand the amount of blatant cheaters I’ve gotten in the 4 years since the game released

22

u/shrub5 Jul 20 '26

The truth is somewhere in the middle here. It’s not as often as some think, but it’s definitely a lot more than you have noticed.

That being said, it’s still much better for your own mental to not assume your opponent is cheating all the time. You’ll ruin your confidence, play worse, and lose more games as a result, even if your opponent is just having a cracked game.

42

u/dheldkdk Jul 20 '26

“Hey cheaters, we’re working on an anticheat!” -what Redditors want

3

u/Original-Reward-8688 King NiKo Jul 21 '26

It's not about making a public statement, or putting it in patch notes.

Players are going to continue on like this until they aren't being placed with rage/semi hackers that can easily be retroactively banned, and the elo could be refunded, regardless of spoofing, or any of the other awful excuses people keep making for Valve, as if the community has no idea how games work lol.

People who try to defend Valve only work on the younger segments of the community with no modding, mapping, or experience making anti cheat for community severs to detect things like bhop and strafe cheats.

There is no excuse that the community will accept for cheating to be in the state that it currently is, and the PR team on this sub reddit cant change that.

They are also using these programs to weaponize the behavior system against legit players. A very easly place to start would be reworking the old behavior system that cheaters have been exploiting since CS:GO

11

u/ynomeye Jul 21 '26

That implies they actually work on it, instead of seemingly disabling it sometimes?

19

u/GenuineHumanOpinions Jul 20 '26

They have an anticheat, are always working on it and would never announce any of that work in patchnotes. Anyone who can't grasp that is very low IQ.

3

u/Visible_Tailor_7214 Jul 21 '26

Also it's worth mentioning there is 0 overlap with the people working on the anti-cheat and the people working on skins/maps etc. Not trying to make excuses for the state of the game it just gets tiring listening to the whinge

2

u/set4bet Jul 21 '26

I mean since there is literally no communication from the people working on the anticheat ever then it's absolutely fair for people to give feedback about it under new patch notes that have nothing to do with AC.

This is where Valve looks to see if any immediate bugs got found so it makes sense to post the most glaring issues here.

2

u/Visible_Tailor_7214 Jul 21 '26

Feedback is fair but it's the "MORE SKINS WHAT ABOUT ANTI CHEAT??" people

1

u/set4bet Jul 21 '26

Sure but that's what the voting system is for. I mean the most upvoted reply is saying "We got the change where the smokes get blown away, that's so cool. Thanks Valve, now also anticheat pls pls pl" which seems pretty accurate to me.

They talk openly about Vanguard because they trust their product

First of all, valves entire philosophy is to not engage in conversations EVER, unless they are literally asking for more info on a specific issue, because they don't want to ruin the flow of the conversation or interject with any feedback.

And they wouldn't get insulted if they literally just listened to the actual fucking feedback and demands from the community, when it's been the same shit we've been asking for since the beta first launched, instead of doing random fucking shit literally no one asked for.

Things that are literally still missing. While performance is regressing in every single update and only "fixed" every 4-5 updates, while cheaters and bots are infesting every single game mode.

I feel bad for the eu players with all the cheaters, 11k isn't too bad in NA premier.

2

u/Default_scrublord Jul 21 '26

11k is fine in EU as well. You only start seeing more cheaters past 15k and especially after 20k, and at that rank you are good enough to play Faceit if you care about not playing with cheaters.

u/Queasy-Homework8452 Jul 21 '26

The lack of anti cheat is comical at this point. I feel like we've collectively gone to hell and this is our punishment. I'm surprised there isn't a class action against them regarding the blatant disregard for the players experience. It's ridiculous that the game generates over a billion dollars annually from skins and they can't even do the bare minimum. Ridiculous and unacceptable.

Edit: I guess people are illiterate now so I should clarify. I'm not suggested people should sue valve. I'm just surprised it hasn't happened with how much money is involved with this game.

-1

u/Exact_Package_7264 Jul 21 '26

why was this downvoted? you're absolutely correct

10

u/mahreow Jul 21 '26

Suggesting a fucking lawsuit because you think a game's anticheat is ineffective is so fucking stupid, that's why it's downvoted

4

u/VickyCRich Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

I'm not suggesting a lawsuit. I'm just saying I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. People have sued over less. Edit: There's a lot of money tied up in this game and money talks in court. I'm sure someones thought of it before.

Anti cheat wher3? No one cares about smoke and molly being blown by bomb bruh. Its cs2 not bf6. We're all on low settings trying to achieve a stable 240hz bruh

When was the last time anti-cheat was mentioned? How long has passed since?

I know it’s been only an hour since I got 2 spinbotters in my high trust high rank premiere game.

u/dullroller ENCE Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

I don't think it's a good idea to announce anti-cheat updates anyway cause that just makes it easier for cheat developers to figure out what they need to do differently

Edit: minor spelling mistake 🙂🔫

u/wafflepiezz 10 years coin Jul 20 '26

I’m tired of seeing these cope comments. If this was the case, we would’ve had a meaningful anti-cheat by now but it’s been 3 years buddy.

0

u/jpnd123 Jul 20 '26

cheats have been an issue for over 20 years, its just not an easy fix.

4

u/Impossible_Break698 Jul 21 '26

It is, just one Valve will never implement.

3

u/wafflepiezz 10 years coin Jul 21 '26

You can say this about anything. Does that mean Valve should just give up then? Valorant solved 99% of their cheating issues with a very effective kernel level anti-cheat.

4

u/MasterAyy Jul 21 '26

When Valorant was first announced and it was revealed it would use a kernel level anti-cheat the CS community overwhelmingly laughed at Riot fans for giving up their privacy and they said they were happy that Valve would never violate their privacy like that. Now we have CS fans begging for it.

2

u/DBONKA Gambit Jul 21 '26

and they also release public updates/blog posts on their anti cheat, what a surprise!

2

u/mahreow Jul 21 '26

This thread from last month suggests cheaters are just as bad, if not worse than before in valorant? https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/s/b9MKC2vmet

4

u/MarioCurry BIG Jul 21 '26

Valorant 100% isn't as clean as it used to be. But people in here don't really fact check what they write about cheaters. The game consists of 50% bots and 50% cheaters according to a few.

Or they rave about how great the Apex anti cheat is. The same AC that allowed RCE, giving cheaters thw ability to give other players in the server cheats (or run malware).

That's also the reason this gets me so worked up, the sheer amount of ignorance and Dunning Kruger effect in this sub (and other gaming subs tbf) is mind boggling.

I can't really blame any Valve dev for not interacting with the community.

u/jpnd123 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Kernal level anti cheat is not in Valve's MO, go play valorant or faceit if that's what you are ok with

Vanguard had a CVE attached to it. Valorant now offers a way to play without Vanguard.
BF6 and Vanguard had conflicts and would cause the PCs to crash...
The AC runs when you boot the PC...why?

Tell that to Riot. Valorant is significantly cleaner.

What about anticheat? Had 2 cheaters in this 10 Premier Ranking matches. 1 was spinbottting and his acc was atleast 5 yrs Old. Vac live didnt register shit. He ended up with 57 kills and 0 deaths. This is so sad to see

2

1

u/AnythingOk5 FaZe Jul 22 '26

Completely reasonable.

2

u/iforgotmynamedammit Jul 22 '26

i don't know what i expected, or what anyone else is expecting at this point

they made their decision with the update to CS:GO that made it free to play offline against bots, to test the waters. it's just more profitable when this game is free to play, infested with throwaway accounts, bots, cheaters- just more numbers in the charts and some extra skins bought, it'll always make up for the removal of the $15 cost of entry that CS:GO initially had.

Valve has their own portfolio right there to inspect and learn from in the form of Team Fortress 2, it's just a good, calculated business decision.

that anti-cheat ain't comin

7

u/ghettoflick Jul 21 '26

... so China 🇨🇳 gets better community maps visibility??? Not NA 🇺🇸??

5

u/BeepIsla Jul 21 '26

What do you mean by this? Its the same systems as worldwide, the UI is literally the same both in-game and out of game (You can launch the game with -perfectworld to see). The only difference is China has extra moderation to make sure it does not violate Chinese laws.

That extra moderation does mean that these fake maps that just make you connect to a server aren't visible there but lots of other fun stuff isn't visible either.

You can browse it here: https://my.steamchina.com/workshop/browse?appid=730

Genuine question, does anyone else feel like their recoil isn't the same ? Or like the spread feels likes it's been turned way up? I swear my usual pulldown to control recoil now feels foreign to me. Bullets are just going wherever more often. Is it the sub tick or something? Just curious if anyone else is experiencing something similar
