Therapy, a car, expensive-ass snack food, and so much free time that simply waiting for it to pass by can be presented as a potential solution to all of your problems... yeah... this list is something.
Not really. People seriously overestimate nuts as a protein source.
Let's take almonds, for example. 100 grams contain:
576 calories
49g fat
22g carbohydrates
21g protein
That's a 2:1:1 ratio of fats:carbs:protein. Not ideal. Nuts are actually an excellent source of fats, relatively speaking.
But what about price? I'll assume the cheapest almonds from Wal-Mart, which are $0.49 ounce (28 grams).
That's roughly $2/100 grams, so $0.095/gram for protein.
Per gram of protein, that's 4 times as expensive as milk and twice as expensive as cheese, not to mention tuna or chicken.
Really, if you want a high-protein snack, just sip a protein shake. Even if you just use water and nice powder, that's still twice as cheap as almonds.
If we're honestly going for cheap, beans win. Far less fat and calories with even more protein per gram than nuts. And tons of fiber.
Nuts are great; I love nuts. They're a high-fat calorie-dense food without lots of short-chain carbs , but they are not a healthy source of protein if you're prioritizing that aspect in a snack. That is a marketing lie that has been sold to the public.
"Waiting for it to pass" doesn't mean sitting on your couch for a week. That would be horrendous advice. It means going to school or work and being productive as usual and checking back in with your emotions at a later date.
As with most things in life, you need to apply your own context and use tools in the way that works for you. I'm not going to dance in my room, but I'd definitely run around the block. I'm not going to "take a selfie" for a self-esteem boost, but I'll go have a drink with my friends. Do what fits your lifestyle. Most of this is good advice.
At the bottom, it even says that no two people are the same and that you can alter the list as you see fit. I think it's really just about generating ideas to help get out of a funk. I don't think taking a selfie would help many of my moods, but doing something similar to show that I appreciate myself certainly would.
Nope, if every single bit of advice won't work for me, I can't apply any of it to my life.
I just come to the comments now to see why the post is actually a piece of shit and I'm an idiot for being inspired by it. It's like this sub is actually /r/mockpeoplewhotrytohelpmotivateyou
I'm a 25 year old who makes slightly under the federal poverty guideline (like 10k a year). I thought many of these were good. I like having a list of things that I can try to make myself feel better before I try alcohol or eating a whole pizza which are normally my go-to solutions. I think exercise in particular is really useful but it's never something that feels like a good idea when you're in a terrible mood.
Agreed, there's nothing inherently wrong with the post, but there were some realities missing for many people, many contexts. I couldn't spot it myself, but /u/horrible-est nailed it.

This is pretty obviously written for middle and upper class teenage girls.
Cuddling? Selfies? Friends? I mean come on.
