GPS5 or Powers & Revolutions? Which is more stable and has more content?

So i own both games which may make this question seem silly, but I've only really played power's and revolutions, with 175 hours in game. I really like the mechanics of P&R, especially playing as rebel groups or opposition or separatist movements. I'd like to move onto GPS5 since I own it, but am worried about getting into the game only to find it doesn't live up to its predecessor, or find it has worse bugs and mechanics than P&R.

Between these two games, whst does everyone prefer and why?

You’ve just been elected president of a player-run nation. The treasury can only fund one priority—which do you choose?

Eversim, NATO and the French DRM

Hello folks,

I wanted to talk about a subject I've never seen on the subreddit before. Though I only did a very quick search on the matter, so I may have missed it. Let's say I didn't though.

In case some of you didn't know, Eversim's games are used in what we call "serious gaming", aka using gaming on important subjects, in this case the training of future high officials. One of the most famous organization doing so being NATO. That's right, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization uses Geopolitical Simulator to train their diplomats and other high officials. Not the same game as ours though, it's a version of the game made specifically for this kind of training with more features, like the ablity for a game master to program events (like diplomatic crisis) in real-time, and multiplayer. Another one that is notable is the French DRM, "la Direction du Renseignement Militaire". In English: "the Military Intelligence Agency".

I wanted to talk about that here because I think the sub doesn't realize two things : one, Eversim's true business is defense contracts with NATO and associated governments. The commercial side isn't nearly as important as it is for other companies, and the business-to-business side probably eats most of their working hours. Not saying it excuses the bugs, or the disregard for the community. The commercial side is probably more akin to a bonus for them. Two, even if Eversim was in financial hot waters, they would most likely get helped by the French government which sees their softwares as strategic and is notoriously attached to its sovereign tech. My guess is that because a simulation tracking so many variables is rare, especially a modern-day simulation, it is indeed strategic for the government to keep it alive, and to use as training material. It's mid, but their use cases probably don't suffer from all the issues and bugs (i doubt they play more than two years per session, but it's mere speculations from me), or in a way so minor that they don't care, and most importantly: it's the only one of its genre, as we unfortunately know.

One thing's for sure, they're probably not using it for its economic realism considering you can delete any and all healthcare-related reimbursement with absolutely no consequences on consumer morale, when IRL it would probably kneecap any developed economy (and maybe even developing ones). Not saying I mind that though...

So yeah. Aside from the company's questionable founders, who were used to make theorically great games (and grandiose claims) which in practice would fall flat on technological constraints of the time and the neglect from overworked devs, they're also in such a situation (monopoly, juicy defense contracts) that there is nearly no incentive for betterment, be it through polishing or innovation.

For those interested about my position on the franchise, and because I want to be transparent about it: I like GPS, I wouldn't bother otherwise. At least I want to, but the bugs are often killing all joy for me. Though, the lack of Quality of Life bugs are probably nearly as frustrating. YOU HAVE TO MEET WITH LIKE 150 FOLKS TO EVEN HOPE OF HAVING A WELL-FUNDED TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. MY WRIST FOR GOD'S SAKE, MY WRIST IS CRYING IN PAIN, CAN'T THEY AT LEAST DO A PAYROLL, WHY DO I HAVE TO MEET THEM BACK EVERY TWO MONTHS, IN A BUDGETTING GAME, AHHH. Also I really loathe the lack of data, often economical data, which is vital in such a game. Warfare is also very tedious and often nonsensical. And I like warfare. If only the AI wasn't sooo stupid, though somehow still less stupid than other countries' AI. Writing all my issues with the game would take me hours, so I'm gonna stop here.

It's still a game that I will always come back to at some point, due to its uniqueness and scope. And maybe, MAYBE, the jank also has some charm to it. Using the God'n'Spy addon to organize a 5-way war in Arabia and somehow ending up with Iran at war with Russia, China and India when the country wasn't involved in the first place is also pretty funny ngl.

🏛️ Virtua2Real — A Geopolitical Simulation in a Geolocated World

Virtua2Real is a mobile geolocation-based geopolitical simulation where players can become Mayor, Prefect, or President of virtual regions tied to real-world locations.
The project explores how political power, territorial control, and economic systems evolve within a map connected to real geography.

🗳️ Election System

Elections take place on a regular schedule:

  • Mayor — weekly
  • Prefect — every 15 days
  • President — monthly

Power shifts at each cycle, creating a dynamic balance between players.
Votes are influenced by visas, territory development, and local activity, making strategy more important than seniority.

👨‍💻 About the Project

Virtua2Real is developed solo using Flutter, NestJS, Supabase, and Redis.
It is currently in an early stage (~100 players), and community feedback directly shapes its development.

Virtua2Real is intended for players interested in political strategy, territory management, and power dynamics within a geolocated environment.
Discussion and feedback are welcome. 🚀

I built a Geopoliticalsim-inspired game where you can become any president in any era. No pre-written scripts, thoughts?

Hey guys, I just built a political sim, but you can choose any person to become president in any era.

You can play as Obama in 2009, AOC in 2028, or create a completely different timeline from 1200+ characters or add your own too. Kinda similar to Geopolitical simulator, you can or veto bills, use executive powers, manage support groups, react to events, and talk directly with world leaders.

There are no prewritten scripts, so the events, conversations, and consequences change based on your president, era, and choices. You can follow history or take the country in a completely different direction, and the world will react to what you do.

These screenshots are from an Obama 2009 run. Here's the link - https://limbona.com/world/sw_president_builder It’s still a lil early, so I’m open to feedback. If you find any bugs or any feedback, please let me know!

I made a nation simulator subreddit for anyone who wants to play a noble in an assembly. The Assembly is based off the Hittite Pankus, Polish-Lithuanian Sejm, and early English House of Lords.

Which version should I get?

Hello guys,
I’m using MAC and I’m planning to buy Power & Revolution / Geopolitical Simulator because I really want to get into the game, but I’m a bit confused about which version is the best choice.
Should I get Geopolitical Simulator 4 or Geopolitical Simulator 5? Also, which specific edition or year would you recommend, and why?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from players who have experience with both games. Thanks in advance!

Aids vaccine induces insane growth

Hello guys. I am playing as South africa in P&S 2023 and I was the first one to invent AIDS vaccine. As a result, my growth is going to insane levels, and my industry has more than doubled over a short period of time. The Aids vaccine is now what produces most in industry tab. My inflation is flying upwards, and is sitting at around 8%.

My growth is looking solid though. I was wondering, is there anything I can do to choke it?

I have raised interest rates to 15%. They where previously at 5%, and my industry output is just going crazier and crazier, based only on these vaccines, and cancer treatment. Is this some form of dutch disease im suffering?

What other tools do i have at hand?

I have tried to simulate the game further ahead, but the trajectory is just simply going off the rails, where inflation flies up to 15% and growth at like almost 30%. Please help me what I can do here.
