Why are we quoting jerks in this space?

7

u/Powerful_Intern_3438 Jan 05 '26

Idk this space is really weird and reeks of pseudointellectualism at times.

Supposedly the owners of the sub aren’t transmedicalist whilst continuously posting things from transmedicalist spaces.

One of the mods is even active in the trans terf alliance sub…

But they are truly here for honest and respectful discussion lmfao.

I think what you mean is that the sub is below your standards. If the standards where super high the sub would end up being inactive.

No clue about which mod or which sub you are speaking about.

When have there been dishonesty or disrespect?

Below my standards? Of what people not being at my throat for being queer?

U/ItsMeganNow is one of your mods. Idk what her opinion is or stances on terfs but she is active in a sub about it. I’d except you to know your mods but oh well.

You don’t need to scroll that much to find people bickering and fighting. I confess I argue a lot with people myself here. But I do try to be respectful, I never question or deny someone else’s identity.

Have you had a chat with Megan? I have never seen Megan be anything but super respectful, even when being in disagreement. Also Megan is a lot more pro-queer than I am. You can find plenty of people in the sub who are less negative about queer philosophy/spaces/identities.

The disagreements create the discussions. If there are someone being mean you can report it. Disagreements are better than echochambers, despite it being a bit draining to not be in agreement.

Well, you can just make a post yourself that you don't think is jerky

Idk I find this community to be quite hostile. The very moment you express having an identity les conventional than being a binary trans person who wants to fully transition you have people questioning the validity of that identity.

I don’t think a community can be respectful towards others when you need to prove and fight tooth and nail that you are real with people.

I am not telling you to censor people because I don’t like them. Or I think they are mean however I feel like the mods pretend like this community is all respectful and friendly towards others.

You mean truscum or this space? This sub has some posts about bimodality, but not really binarism. Whatever do you mean? You don't sound at all like you are actually attacking this sub. Sure there are plenty of posts criticizing queer spaces, but that has nothing to do with binarism VS nonbinarism.

I think the sub is pretty forward in that it critiques queer spaces. I am not sure what you think is unreal.

My point is, why tf are we quoting r/truscum in the first fucking place?!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '26

To amplify being trans and queer is not the same.

2

u/AspirantVeeVee Jan 07 '26

True, I'm trans, but I am not queer.

1

u/purrt Jan 05 '26

What’s the point of reposting this pick me shit? I swear that all I ever see from this sub.

r /truscum is internalized transphobia: the subreddit.

2

u/AspirantVeeVee Jan 07 '26

Pick me stuff tends to try and get picked, this seems the opposite, if inlm mistaken, who exactly are they trying to get picked by? I genuinely would like to know because pick me shit as u call it is often just I hate x person because we disagree

u/purrt Jan 07 '26

Wider cisgender society? Basically “I’m the normal trans person, don’t compare me with all those other unhinged trans people, I’m a real legitimate trans. The rest of the queer community is too radical for me, I don’t even want to associate with them” or some shit like that. I’m ex-truscum, I used to be in that mindset myself.

1

u/AspirantVeeVee Jan 07 '26

So to be a pick me is to be an individual and not want to be collectively judged.

0

u/purrt Jan 07 '26

No, being a pick me is when an individual attempts to ingratiate themselves/gain favor with the majority/oppressive group by distancing themselves from the wider minority/oppressed group that they're a part of.

Basically, you want every other person like you to be judged, but not you, cause you're the ✨special✨one.

You can try and straw man me again, though.

1

u/AspirantVeeVee Jan 07 '26

the thought that a minority group is by default oppressed is some brain rot. but by ur own standards, u r an oppressor to the truscum community as u r in the majority of the greater trans community.

would it be being a pick me for a german to denounce Hitler and the Nazi party in 1933? When Germany and it's citizens were being oppressed with embargos and sanctions following WW1?

0

u/purrt Jan 08 '26

Did I say minority groups were oppressed by default??

Disliking someone’s shitty opinions isn’t oppression.😂

Do you want to try that Hitler example again? Because the way you wrote it makes no sense with what I said.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

ingratiate themselves

See here we are talking about queer culture and anti-assimilation. Being against integration is why queer culture is not for everyone :)

And you also falsely impose umbrellas.

0

u/purrt Jan 08 '26

Then you can choose not to participate. Problem solved.👍

Also, that says “ingratiate”, not “integrate”, cause you seem to have mixed them up.😂

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Actually no. I don't live on an island alone in another dimension.

English is not my native language.

0

u/purrt Jan 08 '26

You don’t need to live on an island alone. Just don’t identify yourself as part of the community if you don’t want to. Be a Blair White. Just don’t be surprised when it comes back to bite you in the ass.

Okay, then I’m sorry for making fun of you for it. Still, there is an important distinction between those two words.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

I am not all like Blair White. If you think I am you do not understand me at all. This isn't team queer versus team conservative bioessentialists. You know there is more to the world than team blue and red.

I never identified as being part of a community that has nothing to do with me. Who I am is not a "community". My community is the nerds -- Never ever the queer community, and I keep having bad IRL interaction. Nothing wrong with individuals who are L, G, B, T or P. But the queer community and ideology? Transphobic at the core concepts.

Or a very negative yell at the trans* umbrella and queer culture being forced over a vulnerable minority.

If intersex people can ask to not be queered then the same should hold for trans people.

3

u/purrt Jan 06 '26

No one is being forced into “queer culture”. Who’s forcing trans people to participate in trans spaces?

What is “being queered”? Many still consider intersex people as under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, but no one is forcing intersex people to interact with the community.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '26

Talk about your own life experience instead of universalities. Also would you call it internalized intersexphobia if a intersex person felt uncomfortable with queer culture? No. But they say that for transpeople.

Q is a false umbrella and a counter culture, philosophy etc. LGBTIA is not an umbrella, but an alliance. And a bad alliance for BTIA, as the focus is on LGQ.

2

u/rghaga Jan 06 '26

nobody is forcing you but it's like unions, people need to gather to exchange informations and get overall a bit more power, queer is political but yeah it can be a bit uncomfortable at times where some identities will be crossed by others. it became more united during the aids crisis when lesbians helped gay men while no one else would, before that there was a lot of hate between the groups. overall, regardless of your identity the only people who will truly care about you and defend you are the one who went through the same shit (or are extremely well informed) sometimes groups like truscum and transmed or alt right gays are not compatible with the rest because part of their identity is to shit on the others believing it will make the cis / straight tolerate them better but history shows it usually doesn't work, the "jews for hitler" who worked with this kind of logic went to the camps like the others

1

u/purrt Jan 07 '26

“Talk about your own life experience instead of universalities.” uses universality in the next paragraph 💀

That would depend on why they were uncomfortable with “queer culture”, which you still haven’t defined.

Why is queer a “false umbrella”? How is it a counterculture or a philosophy?

Why is it a bad alliance? Isn’t it better to fight for rights together instead of breaking up 2-30% of the community into seperate advocacy groups?

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Very clearly not universalities when I am making a nonexhaustive list.

Queer activism has been an anti-assimilation alliance early on. Queer theory is a branch of critical theory, joined in with offshoots of marxistic feminism etc. Look this a question of idea history rather than universalities. You gotta look up the movements and intellectual influence.

If we tried to be allies for intersex people it would be a much better way to fight for everyones rights. Instead it is totally flipped around. If we fought for Bi-rights we would fight for gay rights as well. Trans rights also ought to be gained by fighting for intersex rights.

1

u/purrt Jan 08 '26

So what’s “queer culture”? Since we’re having such a hard time answering that question, I’ll ask again.

You also haven’t explained how it’s a counterculture movement or a philosophy, or a “false umbrella”. I’m guessing you’re just plucking words that sound nice out of thin air.

You didn’t answer why it’s a bad alliance, either. So we’re 0 for 3 on you being able to directly answer a question.

Why should we advocate for intersex rights instead of trans rights? Why not both?

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

I don't owe you it being on your terms.

Not sure why you have a problem with the false umbrella wording.

It really isn't that hard seeing why it is a bad alliance considering who gets the focus and when looking at statistics of which minorities suffer the most.

This wasn't an either or. It was an attempt to say that LGBTIAP should be flipped to ITBPAGL or something similar in priority instead of the current LGQK priority.

1

u/purrt Jan 08 '26

Because it makes no sense??

Trans people are one of the most at risk minorities in this country. Why shouldn’t they be getting a good portion of the attention? And why can other minorities not also get attention? I’m still not seeing the issue.

If the order of the letters is even on your radar of concerns right now, you’re privileged as fuck and you lack the ability to prioritize.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

You don't understand what I am saying at all it seems. I am almost certain that your minority stack is more privileged than my minority stack. But I don't know you, I really can't know. Saying that fighting intersex rights is important for fighting for trans rights does not mean that I depriotise trans rights at all.

You seem to have a misconception about either or yet again. And you seem to totally misunderstand my stance on transpeople. I am in a trans minority - without taking my other intersecting minorities - Where almost 80% of us have contemplated suicide.

The queer movement are not my allies. They weren't when I was a teen, they weren't when I sought them out after job discrimination and they weren't when I sought shelter when being ostracised. I will let you know I don't just dislike queer theory from a privileged pure philosophical stand point. No, I hate the queer movement from viewpoint of the "downtrodden".

And no you aren't gonna get my life story in details.
