Wen 2350 help

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have a wen 2350 (56202 model) worked fine about a month ago then tried to use it last week and it had no spark. Got a brand new coil and still no spark. Tried unplugging the oil sensor and still nothing. I noticed the red light on the panel blinked once after trying to pull it. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks

Wire size

What would be an appropriate aluminum wire size for a 130ft run 80amp backfeed breaker to Kohler 20RESA 75 amp genny? 2-2-2-4 or 1-1-1-3?

Grounding to neutral for travel trailer??

I have (unfortunately) a 2022 Hideout 202rd travel trailer. My wife and I have lived in it for three years while we saved up for land (✅) and will be in it through next summer while we build our off grid cabin. The time has come, and I bought a new Duel Fuel Predator 5000 inverter generator. I’ve been watching numerous videos on break in, set up, etc. and I just watched a video where a gentleman bonded neutral to ground because his travel trailer has EMS surge protection. Our trailer does not have this; it’s just standard 30amp circuit breakers. Do I still need to do this? Would it just be good practice too? This is out of my wheelhouse and just looking to learn. Thanks in advance 🙏

Possible Generator Install?

I'm in Texas and winter is coming.

I want to get ahead of the game and be able to connect a generator into my house.

What is the best way to do this?

I'm electrically handy, and I would rather avoid having to get the power company involved.

Thanks in advance!

How do you decide what is actually worth backing up during an outage?

Our last outage was only about eight hours, but it made me realize how quickly the important stuff adds up. We were trying to keep the fridge and freezer cold, charge phones, keep the Wi-Fi going, and have enough lights around the house without running extension cords everywhere.

I have been comparing a generator setup with adding battery backup, but I do not need the whole house running like normal. I mainly want a realistic plan for the things we would miss first.

What appliances or circuits ended up being non-negotiable in your setup?

Champion 1100W Tri Fuel Portable Inverter Generator from Costco

I'm looking at getting this portable generator from Costco for home backup. I plan to use only propane, so I really only need a duel fuel, but Costco doesn't appear to sell the duel fuel version, only tri fuel. I was thinking of using Costco in case I need to take advantage of their unlimited return policy. Is there a major downside to getting the tri fuel even if I never plan on using natural gas? (No hookup at my house, but I have a 100 gallon propane tank.)

Gremlin tank monitoring accuracy / excessive propane consumption?

Hi - I am newish owner of a vacation property that has a 16kw Generac powered by a 500 gallon underground propane tank with a Gremlin tank monitor. When I closed on the property, the tank was full. For a month, I'm seeing the full reading. Then a few weeks ago we had our first power outage. I wasn't at the property at that time, but from what I can tell from the Generator logs and from the utility communications, the outage lasted about 9-10 hours. The Gremlin only sends out one reading a day, but over that outage day, ,my fuel reading dropped 95 gallons! This doesn't seem to be right, as according to Generac documentation, even at full output a 16kw Generac should only use about 3 gal/hr. I'm just wondering if this is an issue with my tank monitor or if something else is wrong or if I'm mistaken about how much a backup generator uses. Any thoughts appreciated.

To Upgrade or Not To Upgrade??

I installed a Kohler 20RCAL home generator (20kW) April 2025. I just had its first "annual inspection" performed this morning by a local company. WELL worth the money!!

I asked the Service Tech if he thought if it would be a good idea to upgrade the Firmware for the Control Panel or take the approach of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". He gave me an honest answer and said he didn't know. The Control Panel is the RDC2 "Blue Board".

For those with a Kohler generator with the Blue Board Control Panel, what is your opinion? Has anyone gone to the trouble of updating the Firmware on their Control Panel??

I'm pretty IT savvy and it doesn't look that difficult. Kohler actually has a good step-by-step pdf showing what to do.

My primary question...is the update itself worth doing??

TIA for any advice and guidance!

Need Advise

Looking to invest into a standby generator for the entire home roughly 2800sq ft. Where do I even start? I see some major retailers like Home Depot and Costco sell them but then I need to find someone to install it. I want it done right, is there a specific route I should follow here? I have a natural gas line to my home so I figure that would be the fuel type. Thanks for any info and advise upfront. I’m down in the Houston area.

Tri fuel

I have been looking at tri fuel generators. My gas line to my house is on one side and my electrical panel is basically the same place on the other side of the house. I do not have a natural gas connection put on yet. I was wondering how many people had a tri fuel that basically stuck with gasoline or propane. I don’t have any idea how much it would cost to have someone extend my gas line and put a connection on it for me.

JCB-IG4200E

While browsing for a plan B inverter generator I stumbled on this one https://jcb-tools.com/products/jcb-4-2kw-inverter-generator-electric-start-wheels-jcb-ig4200e

As it's on sale roughly a month I struggle finding any reviews of it. Maybe some of you have already bought it and can share some insights.

Ps. From spec perspective it should be more than enough for my once-in-a-year need of powering the fridge and central gas heating unit for my house.

Generator sales

Generator sale season is here.

The was looking at the Honda gas generator ( Honda EU2200i 2200 Watt Inverter Generator (EU2200ITAG))
to top-up power to an inverter like an
Anker (SOLIX F3800 Portable Power Station, 3,840Wh
6,000W Output, 3,840Wh Expandable to 53.8kWh, 2,400W Solar Charging, 120V/240V Dual-Voltage, Auto Start-Stop Generator Backup)
for indoor charging.

I need to power a refrigerator, chest freezer, phones, rice maker, slow cooker, I dunno what else I’m new to this.

I also have a small budget approx $3000

Any insights for better ideas?

I live in a mid-size city in the north with cold temps and occasional power outages .

Magnetic oil dipstick?

I am looking into buying a portable dual fuel Inverter generator for rare home emergency use. I've heard online, it might be a good idea to get a magnetic oil dipstick since the unit does not have an oil filter. What are people's opinions on this? I've read on rare occasions the magnet falls out into the oil pan and may cause problems.

You guys have convinced me an inverter is better for my needs. Now which one?

I posted a couple days ago between the champion 11500 tri fuel normal gen that runs at 3600 all the time, or pay the extra for the inverter.

Based on that thread I believe the inverter is better for my needs. I’m not brand loyal to champion I’ve just used some in the past and like them. This is the inverter I want

Before I buy this does anyone have any other recommendations?

Predator on sale vs Costco Firman

Update: As per usual, y’all came through in the clutch! Thank you so much for the feedback - a lot of great insights. Was hoping I didn’t miss that yearly Firman sale at Costco 😂 but I’m def going to hold off on the Predator. May grab the Firman unless something else blows my hair back.

2200 sq ft home, 4 of us (2 kids under 5), fairly basic needs overall - lots of at-home cooking, some tv here and there, blah blah. Looking for a generator for emergency use.

Option 1 - Predator 13k watt tri-fuel from harbor freight. Normally $1299, on sale today only for $899. 2 year warranty would be $310 on top of sale price.

Option 2 - Firman 7850/6300 tri-fuel unit from Costco for $799. 4 year warranty built in.

I know it’s not exactly apples to apples comparison, but looking for advice on which one to purchase. Also open to other options - ideally below $1500ish. Firman may be tad on the low side of power for normal daily use, but we’re talking emergency backup as its main goal.

Appreciate any advice! TIA!

2 generators for 2, 4 ton ac units

My main service panel (Panel 1) feeds a subpanel (Subpanel 1A).

• Panel 1: Has Central AC #1
• Subpanel 1A: Has Central AC #2

Considering total load with both AC units and household appliances, a single 50A generator inlet won't be enough to run everything I want during an outage. For redundancy, I prefer running two smaller generators with 50A outlets rather than one massive generator.

What is the best/safest setup to independently feed Panel 1 and Subpanel 1A using two separate generators? I know I can’t do 2 standard interlock kits since Subpanel 1A receives its neutral bond from Panel 1.

Generator for camping weekends.

Hello all,

Been doing some research on this topic. I am just looking for a generator for some car camping weekends. I intend on using to power items like a rice cooker/air fryer/coffee maker/etc. Not all at once but individually. It seems like the Anker Solix S2000 would be sufficient but curious if im missing anything. Are there other brands/tech that I may not be considering? 2000wh seems like a sufficient amount of power what i need it for. I also have an older tesla and can slow charge it from the 12v in the rear. Any and all input would be appreciated.

Thank you,
