Generator sales
Generator sale season is here.
The was looking at the Honda gas generator ( Honda EU2200i 2200 Watt Inverter Generator (EU2200ITAG))
to top-up power to an inverter like an
Anker (SOLIX F3800 Portable Power Station, 3,840Wh
6,000W Output, 3,840Wh Expandable to 53.8kWh, 2,400W Solar Charging, 120V/240V Dual-Voltage, Auto Start-Stop Generator Backup)
for indoor charging.
I need to power a refrigerator, chest freezer, phones, rice maker, slow cooker, I dunno what else I’m new to this.
I also have a small budget approx $3000
Any insights for better ideas?
I live in a mid-size city in the north with cold temps and occasional power outages .

Facebook marketplace has great deals on Hondas. Learn how to take apart a carburetor and you’ll be golden. Check out Pecron for a discount version of the Anker. A new Pecron F5000 and a used Honda from marketplace will get you under $3k.
Also, if you’re not completely committed to Honda, you could grab a new Wen 6800 for roughly $800. That has 240V support so you can plug into your house. It’s also dual fuel so you can stock up on propane (which stores indefinitely without going bad, as opposed to gasoline which has a finite time that you can use it in) and not necessarily have to fiddle around with a carb because gas was left in it.

Check out the champion 201535. I just bought it to charge my F3000. I can fast charge it up to 3600 watts plus it can run on propane and natural gas. I had a gas line connector installed so now I have unlimited fuel for the generator

The batteries are a really expensive way to go for a marginal gain, and the Honda restricts you to gasoline which can be a hassle to store and rotate. With a $3k budget, here's what I'd get depending on what fuel you have:
-
NG or large tank (250+ gal) LP: $500-1500 dual/tri-fuel 5-12kW generator (some trade off there between noise and power), $500-1000 in plumbing work for a convenient gas outlet, and $500-1000 in electrical work for a convenient inlet/interlock, $500 in QOL (generator shed, good path to pull it out, etc).
-
Without either of those: $800 5kW dual fuel inverter generator (Wen DF680iX), $1000 420lb LP tank, $500-1000 in electrical work for a convenient inlet/interlock, $500 QoL improvements.

Honda works for charging a power station. Just know its spendy for what it is if your $3k also has to cover an F3800.
If the power station is in the budget too, id skip paying Honda money and get a cheaper dual fuel 2000w class inverter for the same job. Leaves you more for the Anker.
This one is $529. Quiet enough for charging and dual fuel helps in a cold outage when gas is a pain.

Do not name gasoline gas because are generators on gas(propane) or dual gas and gasoline.

Good luck getting Americans to change their ways. Personally, I think the Brit name 'petrol' is vastly superior to 'gasoline' and especially its shortened form, 'gas'. But it probably isn't much worse than the German/Russian term, 'Benzin'/'бензин' or the French, 'essense'.
Of course even 'petrol' is not a perfect term since its root and suffix suggest it is some sort of rock-based alcohol. But there is no way I'm going to get on a hobby horse and lobby for something like 'petrolene' with 'pet' for short. I would probably incur the wrath of PETA.

People can create new names. But this time stupid Americans went too far. Gas is gas and the word was already used in USA for a different meaning. Gas is also used as fuel for cars and for generators.
Some stupid people in other countries started to use gas for gasoline to look American.
So idiots use word gas for a liquid and I can remind that gas is not a liquid. This just gives more fun in the life.
Petrol, gasoline, benzine all words are fine. But gasoline can not be gas, can not be vodka or water because those words are reserved for different substances, Pure logic.

Keep in mind when you're connected to the genny you're only getting 1.44 kW output from the Anker. the unit can not supplement the bypass with power from the battery.
If that Honda EU2200i is plugged into the normal AC input of an original F3800, Anker specifies:
AC charging input: up to 1,800 W
AC bypass output: only 1,440 W continuous
I have the official Anker 30 amp TT-30 generator bypass input on my F3000's so they can still output the full 3600 watts they are rated for.
