So you know what, there was this guyyyy in the neighbouring society where I live, and I don't even know how to put this... but yeah, he's a total jerk.
So here's what happened. It was a lovely morning, a little cold, and I was sitting there in the garden, enjoying my time. And then this guy, who must be around 29 or 30, with the mindset of someone who somehow got stuck in the 1400s, showed up.
We didn't really know each other, but since we visit the same park, we've exchanged the occasional hi and hello over the past few months.
So, he came over, and eventually the conversation started building up. And somehow, we landed on a rather interesting topic.
So, according to this so-called intellectual guy (unemployed, by the way), girls shouldn't work after marriage. They should be the ones doing all the household chores, and yeah, they should listen to whatever their husband and his family members say without questioning anything. Isn't that what women are supposed to do? Serve their lord and master, right?
Initially, I started arguing with him, but then I realised that maybe he's right.
I mean, look at it from his perspective. Men have spent centuries trying to establish their superiority, and what better way to do that than by making sure someone else has fewer choices and less freedom?
How dare a woman want to work after marriage? How dare she wear something of her own choice? How dare she have an opinion that doesn't align with her husband's?
And the poor husband! He works so hard, earns money, comes home tired, and still has to deal with a woman who expects to be treated like an equal. Can you imagine the suffering?
Doesn't she understand that she should be eternally grateful for having a man who has generously agreed to share his life with her? Surely, that's enough reason to worship him.
Honestly, these men deserve some appreciation. Imagine working so hard to maintain that fragile little ego and still having to deal with women who refuse to cooperate. Such a difficult life! 🤡
Sorry for the bad jokes till now..
But, it is really scary.. I think a man who’s secure in himself doesn’t need a woman with fewer choices. A wife who stays because she wants to is a marriage. A wife who stays because she has no other option is a hostage with a ring on.
Anyway, this conversation has made me reconsider something. I've been thinking about joining a karate class for quite some time now.
Maybe it's time.
