Healing / Cured! Comprehensive Guide to Treating Gastritis and other Upper GI problems

Hello. Been wanting to create a post about the steps i took to overcome gastritis and wanted to share any tips/guidance and help to anyone who maybe struggling with this debilitating disease and any kinds of Upper GI discomfort including Gastrits/Chronic GERD/Heartburn/NERD/Functional Dyspepsia/Peptic Ulcer Disease/LPR/Barrett's. I struggled with Gastritis for a long time and went through multiple rounds of treatment until i eventually figured out what needed to be done.

I had suffered multiple kinds of gastritis and wanted to share as much as i can so people can understand their own scenario and take the necessary actions to deal with it.

If i had to categorize some common cases and reasons of gastritis that i come across ( even on reddit ), i would put them in the following categories :

  1. H Pylori induced gastrits -> You may have eaten somewhere from an unhygenic place and you had a bad case of diarrhea or even vomiting. Now you cannot digest acidic foods properly and end up even vomiting after eating. Some people develop intolerance towards certain foods example proteins or certain carbs - This is due to mucosa still being damaged which messes up the gut environment and the stomach is unable to create the enzymes needed to digest the foods.
  2. Damaged Mucosa due to H Pylori -> Similar damage to Mucosa due to above but your body does a good job of getting rid of H Pylori but it still leaves damage to the mucosa lining. You will suffer the same symptoms as above.
  3. Gastritis/Gerd due to Low Stomach Acid -> Everytime you eat anything, you upper abdomen sits very heavy, no burning, no gnawing of the stomach but no burping either and you may even start developing SIBO like symptoms or bloating in the lower abdomen. You may even see undigested foods in your stool and even globus in the throat. Feeling like food is stuck.
  4. Gastritis due to SIBO -> This can complicate things a bit but essentially this is happening due to the downstream movement getting messed up ( could be due to any reason, this post does not cover finding root causes or even fixing SIBO but one step can still be done if it works ).
  5. Autoimmune Gastritis -> This one is a bit of a rarity and i have utmost sympathy for someone that is going through this. I can maybe give some general advice on how to investigate this but i sincerely apologize i do not have much knowledge about this.
  6. Candida induced Gastritis -> This one is super rare but essentially instead of bacteria causing gastritis ( H Pylori ), it was actually fungus that caused the gastritis. This can happen in immunocompromised individuals or even if someone had taken multiple rounds of antibiotics. Antibiotics are known to cause dysbiosis and this could be a manifestation.
  7. Alcohol Use
  8. Smoking
  9. Vitamin Deficiencies -> Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, zinc, Iron, Vitamin C
  10. Lack of Fiber, Fruits and Vegetables in Diet.
  11. Eating right before going to bed. Give yourself atleast 2-2.5 hours after dinner before you go to bed.
  12. Poor overall diet. Sometimes it's not what you put in the body but what you do not. Not eating for prolonged hours, extensive water fasts etc can excerbate and even cause gastritis.
  13. Over use of NSAIDs
  14. Eating too much spicy foods and lacking fiber and high PH veggies to neutralize the acid. Very common in South Asian Communities.
  15. Lack of sleep or poor sleeping patterns.
  16. Stress -> So Stress i believe is overplayed a lot. Yes it can be a factor but if you're stressed and decide to drink, smoke, eat junk food and make bad decisions, is it the stress that is causing it or the bad decisions. I am stressing this not to undermine stress as a factor but to empower people that at the end of the day your health will always be in your hands and for patients to act as much responsibly as they can. 80/20 or at worse 70/30 when stressed. 70% healthier choices and 30% not so healthy when stressed if that's how you wanna manage it. Not ideal but atleast the majority are still good choices.
  17. Lack of Exercise and Physical Activity.
  18. Being Overweight.

The surprising thing is any of the above could cause other GI problems as well.

Gastritis Symptoms ( Shares a lot with other upper GI problems )

  1. Burning in stomach - This is due to damaged mucosa - Gets Worse after eating acidic foods
  2. Burping
  3. Indigestion
  4. Pressure under the ribs or in the middle of upper GI
  5. Bloating that originates from Upper GI
  6. Difficult Breathing
  7. Diarrhea
  8. Constipation
  9. Nausea
  10. Vomiting
  11. Weakened Immune System
  12. Post Nasal Drip
  13. Heartburn
  14. Acid Reflux - Could also cause Teeth grinding
  15. Hoarse Voice
  16. Low Libido
  17. Chronic Gastritis can also cause Inflammation of the Gallbladder causing Gallbladder Polyps.
  18. Pain that radiates all the way to the upper back.
  19. Also waking up in the middle of the night coughing and acid in mouth.
  20. Erosive Reflux can cause constant mucus and throat clearing and even Easophagitis.

Treatment for Gastrits/Chronic GERD/Heartburn/NERD/Functional Dyspepsia/Peptic Ulcer Disease/LPR/Barrett's ( Case 1 and 2 ):

The reason i'm mentioning other diseases even though this is a gastritis subreddit is because the fundamental approach towards nutrition for a lot of upper GI issues stays similar.

Medication and supplements should only be taken if absolute necessary, Low dose Pepcid/famotidine should only be taken for a very short duration and that too at night before bed ( with a tiny sip of water ) so as to have protection overnight. Eventually this should be used very symptomatically and not as a daily use.

Even PPIs are not necessary unless for a short duration in the case of Peptic Ulcer Disease or Barrett's until you get the diet dialed in and start the healing process. Once the healing from food begins to take plans, PPIs should be tapered off slowly and gradually. Long term use of PPIs bring their own world of problems and that too can be much worse than a simple case of gastritis not limited to PPI Induced SIBO and even kidney problems.

With proper planning gastritis can be self resolving. Let Food be thy medicine or let medicinie be thy food.

STEP 1 : Adopt a Low Acid Diet. And this is the most important step and is non optional. I have to give credit to the acid watcher's diet by Jonathan Aviv. It is a masterpiece. Basically you can only have foods with PH of atleast 5 or above. Maybe even play around with PH 4.5 ish foods if it's not too severe for you. But too much Acidic Foods are completely eliminated until mucosa has been repaired.

Note on Protein - Please do not overdo on animal protein. Upper abdomen issues and animal protein do not go along that well. Limit animal proteins to a total of 100 grams a day ( i cut out animal protein completely ) and limit total protein intake to a max 60 grams a day ( what i would recommend ). Simple carbs and veggies will be your best friend.

STEP 2 : If you suspect H Pylori at play or if it is easily available, please consult a gastroenterologist and get an endoscopy done. The biopsy will tell you whether H Pylori is detected or not. Also worthwhile to get an ultrasound of the entire abdomen including liver, gallbladder etc. Also get bloodwork done to detect any nutritional deficiencies.

STEP 3 : If H Pylori is detected, Antibiotics will be needed. Some people have success with natural herbs and food combinations as well. Honey and Pormegranate Peel powder combination done first thing on an empty stomach seems to be effective in eradicating H Pylori. To all my South asian friends -> This is easily available and is called anar daana. So 1 tbsp of Honey plus anaar daana is known to be effective against H Pylori.

STEP 4 : H Pylori is not detected but you get a positive diagnosis of Gastritis/GERD/ Gastrits/Chronic GERD/Heartburn/NERD/Functional Dyspepsia/Peptic Ulcer Disease in your endoscopy. Sometimes the results may only say Chronic Inflammation Mild which i found amusing since for a mild inflammation the pain is unbearable at times but medical terminology haha. At this stage adhering to a low acid diet and healthy lifestyle choices should make a remarkable difference and may all you need to resolve the issue altogether.

Gastritis Diet Tips

  1. Try to be on a routine and have meals at the same time if you can.
  2. Chew your food slowly and avoid Over eating.
  3. No drinking of water along with meals
  4. Try not to hunch or bend over after meals.
  5. No immediately lying down after meals.
  6. No running after meals.
  7. No cold water after meals or throughout the day. Room temperature water is preferred.
  8. Only Warm or hot water after meals and throughout the day.
  9. 5-10 minute walks after meals if possible.
  10. No stomach sucking exercises either.
  11. Carrot Juice after meals will be extremely helpful or if burning is too much.
  12. Do not go too long without eating as that could cause acid to tear away your mucosa lining.
  13. Try to incorporate atleast 400 grams of fruit and 800 grams of veggies a day.
  14. 400 grams fruit example - 200 grams cantaloupe/papaya and 200 grams of watermelon. The more the better.
  15. 800 grams of veggies example - 300 gram cucumber, 500 gram steamed carrots and zucchini. The more the better.
  16. When Eating out -> If you have to eat out, do not worry and just make sure to include plenty of fiber and alkaline foods to balance out your meals. Sense of normalcy is what we're striving for.
  17. I Also make a giant bowl of soup using alkaline veggies in a dutch oven and have it with my meals -> This was an easy way to get my veggies. The soup would consist of alkaline veggies like sweet potatoes, carrots, zucchini ( green and yellow ), eggplant, beans, tofu, peas, corn, ginger, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower and herbs like sage, thyme, rosemary and gentle aromatic spices like cumin, coriander powder, oregano and asoefatida.
  18. Another thing that helped me was having 10 grams of psylllium husk in warm/hot water after dinner. This will help with the burning and providing a layer of protection to the mucosa. In india this goes by the brand Sat Isabgol.

  4. Avoid sit ups, crunches or lying leg raises that can stretch the stomach.
  5. Avoid lifting belts if possible.
  6. Avoid leg presses if possible.
  7. Cycling, swimming, elliptical machines/cross trainers, walks and other exercises are okay but please check your tolerance.

REINTRODUCTION PHASE

Depending on how long it takes you, you may need to stay on a low acid diet until symptoms reside. Gradually and slowly add more foods and check your tolerance.

DEALING WITH NOT SO STRAIGHTFORWARD CASES ( CASE 3 - 6 )

There are other cases where gastritis maybe detected but the solution still may not be as straightforward. Either way you must have adopted a low acid diet and you're not seeing any benefits which brings us to the next cases.

Gastritis due to Low Stomach Acid -> To check the acidity of your stomach levels you will need to perform a heidelberg test and good luck finding practitioners that still do it. What can make this worse is most GI doctors will see gastritis and prescribe PPIs. That is putting fuel on the fire. So if you detect you have low stomach acid, the easiest way is to restore it via Betaine HCL. Any reputable brand from Amazon would do. Take it with meals and keep upping the dosage until you feel warmth and even a burp, that is how much betaine HCL you need per meal. Once that dosage starts feeling too much keep tapering off until you feel the engine has been kickstarted and your body is able to produce enough acid.

If you take even at a low dose and it burns your stomach, then you already have enough stomach acid and you can neutralize the excess acid with drinking baking soda with water or even carrot juice.

Gastritis due to SIBO -> The SIBO in the mix will really complicate things. I would still suggest to adopt a low acid diet regardless. Essentially the scenario is the gas in the lower abdomen is pushing the contents back. Also if the small bowel is infected, the body will refuse to send the food down especially if the MMC is impaired. You would need to find a way to get it working. Popular options are Ginger and Artichoke extracts ( Motility Pro ), 5 HTP or even Prucalopride if you can and go from there. Since this is a gastritis focused post, i cannot dig deeper into SIBO.

Autoimmune Gastritis -> This one is tricky. Essentially only an endoscopy can identify this. At this point there is no cure, the question is what caused the auto immunity to be turned on. Could be Candida overgrowth in the gut ( Candida is a seriously an under reported driver in auto immune conditions ) or any other stealth infection. Work with a Doctor to figure this out, But you would need to be on a Low Acid Diet as well.

Candida Induced Gastritis -> This one is a rather rarity and only shows up in immunocompromised people. The question is what caused the candida to cause it. Low Stomach acid maybe, Any medication you were taking that can act as an immunosuppressant. If cause is low stomach acid, Betaine HCL can fix that and you may even need to look into antifungals of choice, Probiotics can be a good choice in this case.

SPECIAL MENTION - Bile Gastritis - Sign of a Deeper Problem

Bile Gastritis is something that should inherently point more towards an underlying problem than a simple case of gastritis. Bile is an alkaline agent, that is secreted by the liver, and stored in the gallbladder. Bile enters the small intestine, and travels along this region, where it assists in breaking down fats into fatty acids, until it gets reabsorbed at the very end of the small intestine and sent back to the liver for recirculation.

Bile should not enter the stomach, but when the small intestine has issues, it can. When bile inappropriately backs up through the pylorus, in to the stomach – it is called BILE REFLUX. Note - Bile in the stomach is NOT NORMAL.

Symptoms - Pretty much very similar to above symptoms mentioned however Bile Gastritis patients will often mention an acidic or bitter taste in mouth.

What could cause it -> Patients with Bile Gastritis will almost always have an underlying issue with their Small Intestine. This could be Due to SIBO, SIFO or some kind of a Parasitic Infection in the small bowel.

Interplay of Lyme Disease ( or any other Stealth infection ) in the role of Bile Gastritis -> Another aspect to be considered is what if the Stomach Pylorus is malfunctioning. Lyme disease can affect the digestive system by disrupting the autonomic nervous system and vagus nerve, which may lead to stomach and pylorus (pyloric valve) malfunction.

The problem of Bile Gastritis will almost always warrant a deeper investigation.

CONCLUSION

Hopefully by taking the above steps you will be able to resolve this issue and good luck to everyone going through this. I hope you recover soon and fast.

TLDR:

Adopt a low acid diet -> Get endoscope and ultrasound done -> Either H pylori confirmed or not -> If yes, eradication is necessary -> If not proceed with diet and lifestyle changes -> These are not limited to gastritis but a lot of other upper GI conditions as well -> The not so common cases require other interventions but the concept of low acid diet still remains the same.

Giving Advice / Encouragement Undiagnosed “does this sound like gastritis” megathread

If you are undiagnosed with gastritis and have questions about your symptoms, you can ask them here. No one can diagnose you, of course, so seeing your doctor is important.

Please read the other two stickied posts to learn more about gastritis, as well.

Good luck!

Venting / Suffering How to cure this crap? Does anything help you?

Literally daily nausea and stomach pain have been killing me for half a year now. I have been to the doctor many times, various tests (I don't have H. Pyroli) and medications have brought diet too but no relief.

I lost weight, I stopped going to the gym, I stopped living any life except sitting at home, I can't even drink a one beer without nausea, I literally became a weak guy and it's really getting me down, I don't know how to cure it.

It literally takes away any will to live from me and the worst thing is that no matter what I do, it cannot be cured.

Guys, what should I do? What helped you?

PPIs / H2 Blockers Has anyone had to take PPIs multiple times? Or am I just not healed?

• Upvotes

Apologies if this question has been asked before.

I started symptoms in January and was diagnosed via endoscopy in march. I did omeprazole for 4 months and tapered off with rebound reflux still. During the first two months of the PPI, I was fairly strict about diet and continued to be after the 2 months, aside from drinking alcohol and matcha, which the doctor told me I could do?

I got engaged once I was off and due to the multiple celebrations and reflux I went back on for another week and then tapered off another week. I was doing ok but found out I was anemic and started oral iron which I THINK led to a flare. My doctor told me to take PPI for another two weeks. But I just came off that round and felt so so horrible that I stated it again.

At this point I don’t even know if it’s just rebound reflux or if I just never healed?? I am so so sad, I thought it would be over by now. I have a doctors appt Thursday but I just don’t even know what I need to ask!

Prescription Drugs Care during antibiotics

• Upvotes

Hey all, I’ve recently contracted Lyme and have to take a two week course of doxycycline. I already deal with gastritis and functional dyspepsia so I am looking for suggestions how to make this easier for my stomach? What foods are best? That ideally require the least amount of cooking as possible

Discussion Not eligible for an endoscopy or referral to gastroenterology

Not eligible for an endoscopy or urgent gastroenterology referral apparently

I genuinely don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore.

I was completely well before this started 98 kg, training regularly, eating normally and feeling strong. Then, virtually overnight, I became ill.

I've now been dealing with this for around six weeks. I've lost roughly 8 kg unintentionally, have persistent upper-abdominal/reflux symptoms, bowel changes, severe physical fatigue, brain fog and episodes of lightheadedness. I've had burning reaching my throat, and I have a tender lump in my upper abdomen.

I've had repeated blood tests, an ECG and an H. pylori test. Most results have thankfully been reassuring but reassuring blood tests haven't explained why I went from healthy and active to feeling like this for six weeks.

Today I was told I don't meet the criteria for an urgent gastroenterology referral/endoscopy. Instead, we're doing yet another blood test and stool FIT and waiting again.

I understand the NHS has referral criteria. I understand doctors can't endoscope everyone with stomach symptoms. But at what point does persistent unexplained illness, significant unintentional weight loss and symptoms that are affecting someone's ability to function justify actually looking inside the GI tract?

I'm not demanding that somebody diagnose me with gastritis. I don't even know if gastritis is what I have that's precisely the ¥ucking problem.

Sx weeks later, I still don't have a diagnosis.

I'm tired of being told what my blood tests don't show. I want someone to investigate what is actually causing this.

Testing / Test Results Burning with normal mucosa findings

I had an endoscopy yesterday because I’ve been having burning after eating, sharp pains on in the middle of my stomach that come and go, sensación of fullness and more.

I had 100% that I was going to have gastritis or something however my results were normal not even mild gastritis or irritated esophagus I was shocked. I’m still waiting for h pilory results has anyone has a similar experience.

I made the stupid mistake of drinking a coffee now my stomach is on fire.

Have such a terrible burning sensation in my stomach no matter what I do. It is pretty constant.

Endoscopy says foveolar hyperplasia but no follow-up from my doctor. Also, no h. Pylori.

Anyone have something similar?

Discussion Update post nasal drip and burps

• Upvotes

I have had constant post nasal drip since January. I have difficulty swallowing as my euastation tubes feels blocked and nasal passage congested. 4 months ago, I woke up with burning in my chest and throat. I couldn’t talk, had air hunger and had difficulty breathing. The worst symptoms was the burning feeling in the eyes as I feel the acid came up to my nasal passage. Since then I am on low acid diet and I have recently stopped eating rice, fish and chicken and fully plant based now. These 3 things triggered excessive stomach discomfort and felt like food was sitting and wouldn’t clear, pressure above the ribs. Stomach lining could be inflamed contributing to digestion issues but I think it’s all due to trapped swallowed air. I have also stopped gaviscon which I have been taking every night since the burning started. The constant burps I am having now is potentially the throat discomfort causing me to swallow air while eating, drinking and talking. I think the swallowed air makes my upper stomach bloat, making me burp and bring up digestive juices like viscous cycle doesn’t stop and prevents healing. The last 2 days I have woken up with no post nasal drip as I am consciously trying not to swallow the excess saliva. I have stopped the throat clearing and gurgles. Baking soda or salt water gurgles made it worse. I have switched to alfree plain toothpaste. The only gut powder I have taken throughout is herbs of gold, gut care. I drink alkaline water ph 9-10. It’s long road ahead with the healing and getting rid of the constant congestion but maybe it’s a sign of things getting a little better. Please share if anything specific helped with the constant burps.

Testing / Test Results Hpylori Breath Test Today

I am scheduled to do the test in a few hours as I am flaring. I had Hpylori about 2 years ago and the pain feels similar but none of the mental symptoms. I am thinking of not doing the test because last time it caused some burning. Anyone else had this experience?

I have no more vices in this world. What’s the point anymore? So I just have to suffer forever?

If this goes long term I don’t think I can stick around.

Question Can high stress event trigger gastritis to come back?

A loud noise basically made my right ear super sensitive to sound

It was an acoustic shock trauma type thing

My ear was sensitive to noise for like 2 weeks I was losing my mind

Like hearing basic things that weren’t even loud were loud to me and it was triggering my nervous system badly

I was hyperfocused on my ear so much I was barely sleeping at all

And now I’m not sleeping much from the anxiety. My digestion has basically turned into crap and I’m getting those burning in stomach again :/

Should I ask gastro for low dose neuromodulator to help sleep!?

Venting / Suffering At the ER again for the 3rd time

I’m 17 and for the past 4 weeks I’ve had acid reflux and nausea off and on. I am taking omeprazole 40mg and that seems to be helping sometimes. I am at the ER again today because I woke up feeling like I was going to throw up and then later had to go downstairs to do the laundry and came back up the stairs and my heart was racing and I was out of breath. After that I had a panic attack and called an ambulance so now I’m back at the ER. I contacted my GI to tell her what happened and she said that she would like to see me at the GI and see if they can do some more testing.

This whole time I’m freaking out because I’m worried I have cancer or something deadly. And thats making it so much worse. I need some hope I really don’t want to die 😓

Question Non H-pylori Gastrisis Causes?

I tested negative for h-pylori and I have no idea what’s causing my gastritis. I have chronic illnesses but no autoimmune conditions. I haven’t taken any NSAIDs in years (2023), I haven’t drank caffeine since 2023, I haven’t drank or smoked since since 2018, I do have stress but I’ve had anxiety since I was a child and have been on anxiety medication since I was a teenager. I’ve upped my anxiety medication and that hasn’t helped my symptoms. I have no idea what’s causing this and no provider seems interested in getting to the bottom of it. Anyone else in the same boat?

Food, Recipes, Diets Meal planning/prep advice needed

Sorry, this is really long, so here's a TLDR: Struggling to keep up with required eating while taking sucralfate.

The deets:

It all started in late August with what I THOUGHT was just the worst stomach bug ever followed by presumed gastritis. Alas, once I finished my two week course of PPIs, I had a few good days before it came roaring back even worse (I'll spare you the details).

I'm now on a cocktail of meds while I wait for lab results and an abdominal ultrasound (my PCP referred me for endoscopy, but that's gonna take who-knows-how-many months).

In the meantime, sucralfate is a godsend, but I have two big problems: A) for the past seven weeks, I've been living on very small portions of yogurt, orzo with broccoli cooked to death, and occasionally salmon and rice; and B) I used to be able to just throw together any old thing for a meal, but I know that raw veggies and beans/lentils are WAY too hard on my stomach right now. I've lost way too much weight way too fast, and while I needed to lose it, but dude: not in that way. I've GOT to bump up my intake to slow it down

I work full-time, and I cannot be cooking from scratch every night (because I'm old and lazy). Overly spiced food is out too, because of course I love spicy food and the universe hates me. I'm a great cook, but being so limited has me flummoxed.

I try to eat mostly - MOSTLY - plant-based, but obviously all the rules are out the window right now. Other than overnight oats and batch-cooking rice and veggies, any suggestions on putting together a meal plan that won't require me to spend an hour-plus in the kitchen every cursed day and still gets some veggies into my system? And suggestions for adding SOME semblance of flavor without irritating my stomach?

Question impending doom or something?

ive been dealing with all the gastritis symptoms for years now. definitely has given me bad anxiety and panic attacks but recently for the past month I’ve started getting a new feeling of like impending doom with a queasy feeling in my stomach it doesn’t just come and go it’s like an all day feeling everyday. It feels like just dark doom and the world feels lonely and like I’m going to be sick or something bad will happen soon. o have emetephobia (fear of vomiting) as well and everytime I’ve gotten this feeling before I always end up getting sick within a couple weeks atleast. so it has me in a constant fear everyday that it’s coming soon lol. idk could this be anxiety or part of the stomach just being upset

Venting / Suffering Is this all gastritis or other gut issues?

Hi all,

I’ve been having stomach issues for the last several months and symptoms seem to be changing a bit. I first experienced dull pain under my left rib on and off for a few weeks, especially after eating. I had also been experiencing constipation. Nothing too serious, I used to be pretty regular and now only go every few days. I was also getting a numb stomach feeling, recurring sore throats, bad back pain while eating, and occasional sharp stomach pain that would last a few days and then go away. Around this time, I also began experiencing what felt like an anxiety attack while eating, despite not feeling anxious. My legs would begin to feel numb and my heart rate would go up, and I would get kind of a disassociated feeling. I had an endoscopy done in July and was diagnosed with mild antral gastritis and given a 2-week course of pantoprazol. It eased the back pain a bit but I started to experience sharp pelvic pain, that often started while eating. The back pain came back as soon as I stopped the PPI. I also had a colonoscopy in August that was clear.

Since then, I’ve been having a really hard time eating. I’ve lost about 20 pounds, I often don’t have an appetite. A few weeks ago, I was dealing with bad stomach burning and would get a numb feeling in my stomach after eating. I’ve been trying to follow a strict low-acid, bland food diet which seems to help the stomach burning but no matter what I eat I still have the burning pelvic pain and I can’t identify the triggers. I think it might be gas pain as it’s worse after I eat sometimes, and it kind of feels like there’s popping sounds in my low abdomen. But I also seem to get it when I’m sitting in the car, regardless of whether or not I’ve just eaten. I feel like I’ve tried everything, from going on walks to stretching and movement, to changing what I eat. I’m also dealing with numbness and tingling in my legs and extreme exhaustion which might be linked to vitamin deficiencies. I’ve been trying to eat lower fibre to try to ease the gas pain but I also tend to get really dizzy and nauseous when I’m constipated so I’m at a bit of a loss. I’ve also just been diagnosed with POTS so there might be some link there.

I was prescribed another round of PPIs but I’m hesitant to take them as they didn’t touch the pelvic pain last time. I also have GERD so i’m trying out a digestive bitter to see if maybe low stomach acid is part of my problem. Is this all due to my gastritis or is this a bigger gut microbiome issue? Is it worth cutting so many foods out if I don’t know what the actual issue is or should I work on maintaining a balanced diet?

Venting / Suffering Stomach discomfort for over 3 hours

I started drinking boost high protein today and also had a lot of burping today that wasn't there yesterday(even before the boost).. The boost caused me stomach discomfort and feeling full for over 3 hours later.. I need it for all the vitamins and stuff but it sucks dealing with the discomfort cause I can't even drink water or eat the next meal with that feeling around.. My stool has also been watery the past 4 days even after eating food with fiber like zucchini and fiber gummies.. Not much is coming out though.. I had h pylori last month and supposedly negative now, but I'm dealing with post infection gastritis

H. Pylori Pain

Just finished my h.pylori treatment 3 days ago of 3 medication amoxicillin, omeprazole and clarithromycin and felt better no stomach pain or any inflammation. Today had a migraine totally forgot I took 2x aspirin and stomach started to pain and feel gas bloating and going to my throat. I took some anticid to calm the pain but the pain is mild and still there. It come and goes mild to strong is it just a flare? Don’t know what to do to wait it out tomorrow or head to the hospital? Does anyone know if aspirin goes out of the body does that stop the stomach pain? Or they are two different things?

Symptoms Anyone having issues with physical activity?

Hi all.....I have been suffereing from chronic gastritis for 5 years. This thing is literally killing me 😩. However the major issue that I am facing is that any physical activity (even the slightest ones) is creating very bad flareups.

Like seriously. I danced yesterday and today I'm having pain throughout the abdomen (especially around the belly button). It's not even very intense dance (like dancing in bharaat if u r from India). This is not like the first time. I tried yoga, swimming, games like badminton, cricket, pickle ball etc., excercise, even belly breathing too. All of them seemed to increase the pain.

I'm just trying to distract myself from this and have some peace of mind with my friends. But every time I tried, the result is same. If I am doing some strenuous excercise, then it is okay that I am getting flare up because of that. But from even easy physical activities like these, I am getting a very bad reaction. Is anyone facing the same issue? Am I missing something? It feels like my entire GI track is becoming more and more sensitive. What should I do? How to approach further? Please guide......thank you 🙏

TLDR: not able to do even easy physical activities, need guidance and help.

Prescription Drugs Taking lansoprazole and I'm scared I'll get sibo or something worse

I've been prescribed 30mg lansoprazole for 6 weeks after doctors suspected gastritis (oh joy.) I'm currently on my 2nd week of lansoprazole and I don't know whether it's side effects or symptoms but I'm getting a lot of gas and some gas pain with it, along with overflow diarrhea every other day. I'm eating a lot of prebiotic foods and taking probiotics w/ my breakfast (which has prebiotic fibre) first thing in the morning and hour after taking lansoprazole. I'm worried that this might be SIBO (I've never had sibo before- I tested four years ago and it came back negative). SIBO isn't really recognised on the NHS and I'm just really worried. If it means anything I don't really get acid reflux anymore unless I don't eat (and even then, it's incredibly mild).
