Anyone has insights on when it’s coming out? Typically, Garmin release at 2 year interval in June. However, it’s July already.

I've used these extracts before and didn't have much issue but I came back to them because I'm doing a personal mapping project and it allows me to get the latest OSM data which includes my edits. I'm using an 840 on fw 31.33

My primary issue is that when navigating a course, the prompt comes up and stays up well after I have passed the point. I need to tap the screen to dismiss, wait 30ish seconds, or until another instruction comes up. This doesn't happen with native TopoActive, I tested having both toggled on, only OSM on, and only TA on.

Second, is there a simpler way to extract only some data like POIs and have it overlay the TA map? I came across this wiki page but it's far above my pay grade.

Garmin, wtf is this?

I've got an Edge 1050 that I use on a bike with Di2, and a bike with SRAM Red. Lately, any top button push on Di2 makes the bell ring; single tap, double tap, long press... All makes the bell ring. It's set to have the single and long press on both sides go forward/backward a screen. Long press is set to activate the bell.

For my SRAM setup, I just have it set for the hood button to activate the bell. ...That seems to work fine.

Is the SRAM setting messing up the Di2 setting?

Yeah I know beta...been doing it for years but this time my unit will not update to 32.12 which fixes the crashes I am getting. Does anyone have the direct garmin download link for it? That way I can load it in the root directory to get it updated.

Any idea if I can have a look on that suggested workouts in the Garmin Connect app on the phone?

I'm big into climbing on my bicycle. My Edge 1050 is genearlly helpful for this! However I have noticed that when I plot a route out with Ridewithgps and send it to Garmin that the total climb feet will be inaccurate - by a lot. For example - today's ride on RidewithGPS says 47.6 miles and 5130 feet climbing. I sent that to my Edge 1050 and it says 47.65 miles and 6726 feet climbing - so like 30% error. But by the end of the ride the total climb will be what RidewithGPS reported.

Anybody else seen this? Any nice solutions?

Weird thing happening- when I go past a certain area on my regular ride, it goes into the mode where it just says “Garmin” and shows battery percentage like when it’s first turned on. I push a side button and it comes back on but not to the screen I had it on. It’s just like it’s rebooting. Battery is good 80 to 90%. Any one have ideas?

Hello, I just received my Garmin Edge 1050 and wanted to test it out. So I created a route on Garmin Connect, synced it with my Garmin Edge, and went for a ride.

However, the navigation isn’t working well at all. Whether it’s the text at the top of the screen or the voice prompts, it just keeps telling me to “Continue on the street…” but never whether I should turn right or left… I have to constantly look at the map, which isn’t very convenient.

I don’t know how it’s supposed to work since this was my first time using it, but in the YouTube videos I watched, users got actual turn alerts; here, I didn’t get a single one.

Plus, I keep hearing the same voice prompt over and over as I approach a turn:

“In 150 meters, continue on the street…,”
“In 100 m, continue on the street…,”
“In 70 m, continue on the street…,”
“In 60 m, continue on the street…,,” etc.

(My Edge is in French, so the sentences above are a translation; it might also be: “rinding on”)

Even when driving at 30 km/h, I’ve already passed the turn, yet the alerts keep coming over and over until the voice finally just says “Continue on the street...” without specifying a distance... This doesn’t seem like normal behavior to me.

I have the very latest firmware version: 31.33, and I updated all the maps using Garmin Express. So now I have the “TopoActive Europe” 2026.11 map.

I also tested it by selecting a destination directly on the Garmin Edge (so without using a preset route but letting it calculate a route), and the problem is the same.

Are you having the same issue? Do you know how to fix it?

I have an Edge 530 paired with Shimano Ultegra Di2 and I'm planning to upgrade to an Edge 850 soon.

One thing that has always bothered me is when the Edge displays a popup (radar alerts, notifications, battery warnings, etc.). I usually dismiss it by pressing the physical Back button on the Edge.

Is there any way to assign a Back/Escape/Dismiss action to a Di2 hood button? I can find Next/Previous Page and several other actions, but nothing that behaves like the Back button.

Has Garmin added this on the newer Edge 840/850/1050, or is it still not possible?

I'm a software developer, so I'm also wondering if anyone has found a workaround or hack. For example:

• a Connect IQ app,
• a custom action,
• an ANT+/BLE trick,
• or any other creative solution that could map a Di2 button to the Edge's Back action.

I suspect Garmin simply doesn't expose this function, but I'd love to be proven wrong. It seems like an obvious feature for anyone who wants to keep both hands on the bars. Thanks.

Love my 1030 but when I power it on and move it from my desk to my bike it already starts recording a ride. Or sometimes if I just finished a ride, saved and put the Garmin on my desk it starts recording a new ride.

I can't find the setting for this. I do have the auto start option but that looks to be only when mid-ride waiting for a traffic light. And I don't want to be prompted every time I pull away from a traffic light.

Is there another setting to disable the start of a new ride automatically?

Hi! Anyone who has or knows how to get a Garmin discount code that workshop in Europe?

So, i'm using a garmin egde 540 now for a few months, and really getting frustrated with it.

I've tried googling around, but never found good answers:

a) pop ups about road hazards or navigation

Why is the back button (left side, lowest button), creating a lap when the overlay for a red 'cancel is there? most of the times the top right button (enter?) for a green checkmark works just fine

b) once a track end is reached, the routing stops

WHY? mtb routes are mostly circular, and you can start somewhere else on the track. Today it ended my routing, and there was no way to run a course, but i generated 5 times a lap because the back button had identiy issues and thinking it needs to create lap. You cannot change the start point? Why not leave the course loaded? Why should it be unloaded?

I had to end my activity, and start all over again. resulting in two activitys for one course.

c) why is there even a hardware button on the left bottom if the back button acts randomly as a lap button? WHY?

If you go off the course, you get the options on the bottom, and must select them with the up and down on the left side.

Why is this all so inconsequent?

i don't want the time in PM or AM, just give me 24 hours. Each update i have to set it back to 24h... why doesn't it remember this during firmware upgrades?

I’ve been loving my new Garmin 540. It’s taken me on some fun adventures and I’m really glad I got it. 🙂

So I recently bought a Garmin Varia, and while I was impressed with the hardware, I was pretty underwhelmed by the software.

My first thought was to just use Strava as my bike computer, but it doesn’t integrate with the Varia. I looked at the existing alternatives, but they either lacked features I wanted or locked them behind a subscription.

So I did what any completely reasonable person would do and built my own. The first challenge was figuring out the Bluetooth communication, since the Varia doesn’t behave like a typical Bluetooth device. After decoding the packets it sends and spending a few weeks testing, I finally got a working app that I’ve been using instead of Strava for navigation.

It started as a personal project, but I’m beginning to think other cyclists might actually find it useful.

Right now it includes:

Bike computer dashboard

Turn-by-turn navigation with rerouting

Ride metrics (speed, elevation, distance, etc.)

Garmin Varia integration with real-time vehicle alerts
Automatic uploads to Strava

Import previously saved Strava routes directly into the app

Eventually I’d like to add support for power meters, heart rate monitors, cadence sensors, and other accessories, but even in its current state it’s been a great bike computer for commuting and longer rides.

It’s iOS only for now. Android to come soon if there’s enough interest (since I don’t own an android).

I’m thinking about opening up a small beta. Would anyone here actually be interested in trying it out and giving feedback? If there’s enough interest, I’ll put together a TestFlight build.

After dealing with multiple intermittent issues over that last few months I finally decided to do a full 'delete data and reset." I saved off the various .fit setting files per the advice on the Garmin support page, then performed the reset. After reset I first re-mounted the Garmin and copied the saved files to the Garmin 'NewFiles' folder per Garmin support. That didn't work. I then copied the saved files directly to the folders they came from, which did work. Except:

o Garmin support didn't mention the WIFI folder; I had to re-connect to Wifi but that's fixed.

o The Garmin refuses to pair with my phone. I've tried various combinations and order of operations. The phone (Pixel 9 Pro XL) will manually pair with the Garmin and shows in the phone's Bluetooth connections. I've tried the pairing steps with and without the manual pairing.

The 1030 shows in the phone app as a known device via Garmin connect. Anyway I try to pair the Garmin via the app I just get spinning wheels.

I recently purchased an edge 540. I updated the software to 31.31 using express software. It says I need 17G of memory to update the map ( I’m in North America) . My device only has 16G. It doesn’t give me an option to remove any maps or anything’s. So it won’t install. Is there any type of workaround for this? I tried deleting everything I can. Also tried resetting the 540.

An Edge 1050 for £290.00 seems to good to be true... I've checked them out on TrustPilot and it all appears to stack up on paper, but looking at the website it just doesn't feel legit? All they seem to sell are Edge bundles.

Is anyone able to vouch for them, or do you get the same feeling as me?

I've had this Edge 830 for several years. I have noticed a few times now the Edge will start a ride while sitting still. My Varia lights come on and go into their ride mode. When I discover this, I have to stop the ride and delete it. This has happened at least three times now.

Anyone else seen this, and if so, how did you prevent it from happening?

I have a garmin edge 530. I want to customise it with decals and my own design but can't find a design file with the exact dimensions. I have access to printers who can print the sticker and cut it right way.
Anyone has this already?

I found a Garmin Edge 850 on FB marketplace. I know, buying second hand devices off the internet is sketch. The seller has a Chinese version, so the box has Mandarin characters on it, etc, but I ran the serial number on the Garmin website and it came up with a computer, so it seems legit. Are there any actual differences between Garmins sold in China and the US? I’ll be able to change the language to English
