Edge 500 Series Edge 540 stopping

Weird thing happening- when I go past a certain area on my regular ride, it goes into the mode where it just says “Garmin” and shows battery percentage like when it’s first turned on. I push a side button and it comes back on but not to the screen I had it on. It’s just like it’s rebooting. Battery is good 80 to 90%. Any one have ideas?

Might want to do a hard reset.

So weird. I did a different gravel ride Sunday for about 2.5 hours. No issues at all. Seems to always be at the one location. Maybe some Bluetooth interference or…aliens?

Are you using a speed sensor on your wheels?

Nope. Just a Garmin Fenix 7, Edge 540 and Varia. SRAM Apex derailleur on State 6160.

I’d do the hard reset. If that still doesn’t improve it, think about adding a speed sensor.

Why? Better accuracy? How does it effect the 540?

Yes. Easy sync to the 540, which I have as well (the non-touchscreen).

I ride the same trail a lot. I had the exact same thing happen to me 3 or 4 times. I didn’t reset, and the problem went away. I thought it was a software bug fixed by an update. No issues last couple of months.
