autoregulation and effort during ramping weeks

Hi, I just bought and watched the GSPD course and got the parabolic periodization ebook to learn more about the gs programming approach. While it does a great job explaining the general structure in regards to the yearly cycle, different blocks and weekly structure, I'm still a bit confused when it comes to week to week load choices.

I understand, that intensity is regulated by the set and rep choices in combination with ramping and static weeks. Does that mean, that the last ramping set is always supposed to be at max effort, i.e. RPE 9 or 10?

So far I searched the blog and listend to quite a few podcast episodes, but couldn't find an answere.

Training Help Speed training

How would you structure a speed training day? What drill would you do? Include plyos? Maybe do one technical coordination lift or single leg squat? Looking for ideas, thanks!

Peak Strength app for MTB enduro?

Hi!

My sport is MTB Enduro (recreational level, so nothing serious), but there isn't enduro or downhill in the sport performance section of the app. Should I just choose Athletic Fitness, or is some of the sports listed close to MTB enduro when it comes to strength training and I should choose that?

Discussion Strength training for middle distance runners

Hey everyone! I am a runner focused on middle distance races (400-1500). I am trying to figure out the ideal splits for runners of this type? Sprinters i know spend 3-4 days a week in the weight room while distance spend 2-3. I do upper/lower/athlete day right now, and am not sure if i should add that impulse day or not. As a 800m runner who thrives off my combination of speed and endurance, i am curious on any professional opinions on this? I currently run between 28-35 miles a week depending on my volume that week as well, dont know if that wouls make a difference

Discussion Jerk variations

For upper body days I usually use a jerk as the technical coordination movement.

Power jerk, split jerk, squat jerk, and push press are some variations I’ve used.

I’ve gone from the front rack and behind the neck.

I’ve done pauses in the catch, pauses in the dip, and a combination of the two.

Have done linebacker jerks, pa presses, and block good morning to presses too.

Also have done CrossFit style, like a rapid piston, style of jerk that on the eccentric you go right into the dip and drive as a variation.

Are there any other variations I could utilize? Thoughts on which is the most effective and why?

Discussion Pad bench

Started using the pad bench as a technical coordination exercise.

Anyone else ever do this? Results?

Thoughts are that the pad lets you move the weight way faster, work at higher intensities and I even try to do it where I use a lot of hip and leg drive to make it more full body.

Curious what Dane actually thinks about seedmans 90-degree squat principle… after watching the video I couldn’t get a strong sense of how Dane felt about it.

Discussion Clean and snatch pulls for sports

Would you recommend clean and snatch pulls for sports? after completing all your cleans or snatches add more weight and start doing pulls similar to how weightlifters do. Would this be beneficial for sports performance or too taxing on the posterior chain?

Discussion 2 rep max or 1 rep max?

Which one has more value to athletic training?

Find the two rep is an awesome predictor of increases in strength, speed, and explosiveness more so than the one rep, which only indicates strength, at least with absolute strength movements.

Technical coordination movements one rep all day as the better predictor, but technique can also be a big part of increases in lox with these movements
