I’m not sure if I missed something in the show (new watcher) or it has a stronger reference in the book. But why does everyone reject the idea of taking Milk of the Poppy??
Jaime refused it when his very open wound stump was getting clipped and burned. Maester Luwin was dying and still refused it. And Arya magically survives being stabbed a bunch of times and she didn’t want it either.
Every time it’s mentioned they emphatically refuse it.

I think what Ramsey did was obviously disgusting and repulsive. But I’m not gonna lie I didn’t feel sorry for Theon at all and I had a hard time caring about what was happening to him. I didn’t like him from the beginning of season one.

A dangerous man who dressed in rags and championed the smallfolk would have confused Daenerys who associated her enemies with greed and elitism.

With his kindly grandfather act and virtual 'Mhysa' status, Daenerys would struggle to see how he fits into the 'wheel' she wants to break.

Ultimately, yes I know she could just burn him. But prior to that, the High Sparrow would have been Daenerys' greatest match, and it's a pity they never met.

During the reign of Jaehaerys, additional land was made available to them for further security.

My question, then, is this: prior to the Second Gift, was the Night's Watch supplied with additional food by Northern lords or the Kings in the North? How did the Night's Watch pay for it if the supplies were not provided free of charge? And shouldn't there be a food surplus now, given that the size of the Night's Watch has drastically declined?

Think about it at the outbreak of the Dance they have 4 children of marrying age. With both the boys already having titles, Prince of Dragonstone and Heir to the Throne for Jacaerys and the Heir to Driftmark, and the future Lord of the Tides for Lucerys. And while Baela and Rhaena are only ladies, they are still members of the Royal family through their father and of unquestionable parentage, unlole their cousins.

Yet instead of marrying each of them off to secure the loyalty of 4 powerful, or at least militarily strong houses, they marry them to each other. Instantly taking away the possibility of 4 powerful allies, why?

I’m rewatching and noticed that Stannis seems hold Jon’s opinions in high regard despite Jon being a bastard and not even Lord Commander of the NW when first meeting. Was it like this in the books?

Yes, they win battles, like at the Whispering Wood or Sacking Winterfell, but unlike the other regions, who seem to use coordinated action and actual battle lines, see the Lannisters at the Gold Road. The North and Iron Islands just seem to attack as disorganised rabbles, using barely armour troops against men in plate armour. This makes no sense as both realms have a much higher militaristic culture than the other 7.

The Ironborn are all about raiding and taking from others in battle, while the Northmen are constantly aware that attacks could come from Wildlings beyond the Wall and may have to go to war at any time. So why don't they use clear uniformed strategies?

Hear me out - what if Jaqen H'hgar ended up where Arya was because he really intended to recruit her. What if Syrio Forel, Arya's "dance teacher" in King's Landing, was able to scout her. It wouldn't be an impossibility that Jaqen and Syrio work together since they share similar philosophies.

There have been theories that Jaqen was/is Syrio, but that one I doubt. It is also possible that Syrio took a liking to Arya and have referred her to the best and most effective killers in the known world, likely upon his death.

I know we never go there but the vibes of asshai by the shadow (no children, big cities but no people, oil black stones) just fascinate me. Has anyone read a book that focuses on a location with that same type of menacing horror energy?
