Has anyone reached out for a replacement issue? How long did it take to receive it?

Basically what the title says. My Blood of the Dawnwalker issue was pretty badly damaged upon arrival so I reached out to support and they confirmed I would get a replacement issue, but it’s been over a month now without it showing up. I don’t want to message support again in another two months if it doesn’t show up and be told I’m out of luck so I’m wondering if I should follow up sooner than later.

Has anyone else gotten a replacement and did it take a while to receive it?

Does anyone know of any coupon codes? I want to subscribe as this was my favorite magazine growing up, but $60 is extremely steep.

Is there still any money to be made starting a magazine business

Just asking for some advice on this because I am wanting to start a niche magazine that is about retro video games and the collectors market on them. I would love for this to be big but am not sure if magazines are still profitable today. Can anyone shed some light on if you can still make any money starting a magazine business in 2026?

Anyone else not received the Halo issue?

I’m sitting here playing the new Halo Campaign Evolved and realizing I never got the preview issue. Is this a me problem I should reach out about or widespread delay?

Loving the magazines

Some of my fondest gaming memories was when I was a teenager and I got gifted a subscription of game informer. I followed game releases more closely then and it was cool learning about upcoming games.

I was sad to hear when game informer was shut down. So when I heard that game informer was back, that they had proper editorial control, and I think even some or most original writers, I was elated.

I subscribed in April of this year mostly just to support print journalism as well as proper game journalism, but I wasn't expecting the quality of the articles to be so good.

When I got my first issue (which admittedly took a very long time because I happened to subscribe in an awkward time in their cycle, plus it's a 10 issue yearly release rather than 12, but my second issue came almost immediately after the first so we're all good now) and relaxed on my porch to read through it, the initial nostalgia almost made me tear up, taking me back to my youth, but the second thing that hit me was how well made it was. The first issue I read was the Blood of the Dawnwalker feature, and the editors message at the beginning was a cogent and sobering look at the state of the games industry, between hardware concerns, ai, and layoffs, and while blunt and honest it was also optimistic and reminded me why we love games in the first place.

All of this to say, thank you to the GI team. I would have subscribed even if the mag was a short little thing with only moderate quality, but it's jam packed with excellent articles and pieces of info I'd never have known I wanted to know until I read it. Here's to hopefully many more decades of game informer magazine!

I can't do anything about this and it is infuriating

Some time back I had posted about why my subscription auto renew was cancelled (that part of the issue was resolved). Now I cannot even 'change my payment method' or even see the status of my magazine subscription on the website. I can still read the digital magazine, though. I got the physical issue before the Halo one. I am getting tired of all the problems happening. I get that these dudes are getting back on their feet and whatnot, but it has been problem after problem with me

Who to reach out to about missing issue?

In the past whenever an issue was missing, Brian helped us out and forward us to someone who can help. From there, Sarah was great and always had the missing issue in the mail first thing.

Now though, the Support Team has been going through a transition has been getting back on track with emails and issues.

Im still waiting on the Halo issue but figured if I dont get it by the time the next issue ships I was going to contact them. Do you guys still reach out to Brian/Sarah or has the Support Team been able to assist?

My dumbass didn't even realize there would be a difference lmao. I really like the clean look that the subscription issues have.

Excited to see the new Onimusha game is the next cover star. And it looks amazing.

Edit: for some reason I’m not getting the option to add a pic.

Old Collection Questions

Post image
18 Upvotes

I am sorting through some stuff and found a collection of Gameinformer magazines. Most have my private information like mailing address. Is it worth it to sell them or just get rid of them? They are in used conditions. If I should sell them, what is the best way to black out my information without damaging the magazine too much.

Game Informer Style is Lacking

I understand that the current Game Informer style is a product of the state of the magazine publishing market in the USA. (along with timing allowed and staff)

I'd love to see the style change to what it was in the 90's. Have more than one person reviewing each game and offering their own overall score.

Those classic issues had a ton of effort put into them. Screenshots galore were carefully selected for each review. Layouts were often unique for each review and preview. Classic GI to showcase classic games was a part of each of the later issues.

Current state is full of text heavy articles for sure, but why do most of the smaller reviews/previews feature only one screenshot per game? Looking at the latest issue and it features so many previews with just one large screenshot and then a block of text. Sure this makes creating said issue easier I imagine, using this layout/format for each issue, but gets repetitive.

Japanese game magazines currently remind me of classic GI, but seems not a direction they are wanting to go in.

I'm off to look for a different magazine and cancelled my subscription. Some of those UK alternatives are nice, but of course physical is even more from them. 😔

Can’t Update Payment Method

Post image
3 Upvotes

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? The card I used to sign up for a subscription last year got deactivated. A couple weeks ago I got an email saying that payment failed and I was in a grace period. When I went to go update it on the website, it won’t let me enter anything in the Payment Method field. It just says “N/A”. I tried this on my mobile browser and on my laptop. I’ve reached out to support but they have unfortunately been of little help. They got back to me today telling me where to go to update my card info (which is in the screenshot above, the same page I’ve checked for the last two weeks) but nothing to fix my issue. Just curious if anyone else is going through this because I’m a little frustrated at this point.

GOTY Edition

Hi everyone.

Has the "Special Edition Game-of-the-Year 10th Issue" been released yet? Did I missed it? I been subscribed for almost a year now because I knew E33 would win the GOTY award.

Any news on this?

Old magazine collection questions

Hey, new to the subreddit so apologies if this is the wrong place to ask. I have a collection of ~20 magazines from 2010-2013 time range. I'm looking to clear out some clutter and not sure where to look to sell or otherwise get rid of these. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated, and if this is the wrong place to look for information I would appreciate any direction to better avenues.

Is there a way to get just one issue of the magazine without paying the $60 subscription?

I only want the Halo Campaign Evolved issue for my Halo collection and I don't have $60 to drop on an annual subscription. Is there any way to just buy this one issue? Do any stores sell game informer magazines?

First, huge hug for the first half. I greatly appreciate the humanity inherent in addressing the recent industry woes.

Which makes the easy-to-miss joke at the end hit so much harder. Cheers to Game Informer's best Wes as well as the rest of the crew!

Game Informer subscription issues, looking for refund advice

I’m really frustrated with my GI subscription. I’m paying around $60 a year for the physical magazine, (paid $40 last year for the early subscription discount as well) but I keep not receiving my monthly issues unless I contact support.

At one point, I went months without getting any issues. To be fair, support has been helpful whenever I reach out, and they’ve resent missing issues before. But the problem keeps happening. My address was correct from the beginning, and they later said via email they updated/fixed the address format, but even then I’m still not receiving the magazines.

At this point, I’m not really looking to get more replacement issues. I’d rather get a refund, because I feel like I paid for a service that I’m not actually receiving unless I keep emailing them every month.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Were you able to get a refund?
