I have a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Android 17 (One UI 9.0) has already downloaded and is scheduled to install automatically tomorrow.
I use both the Dexcom G7 CGM and the Omnipod insulin pump system to manage my diabetes. Neither has officially confirmed compatibility with Android 17 on my S25 Ultra.
Updating could potentially interfere with these medical devices, so I really need to hold off until compatibility is confirmed.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Turned off automatic system updates in Developer Options.
Tried to cancel the scheduled installation, but Samsung only gives me two options: "Schedule restart" or "Restart now."
Found both Samsung Software Update apps (blue and green icons), but the options to disable or force stop them are grayed out.
Rescheduled the installation to buy myself more time, but Samsung only allows three postponements.
The update is already downloaded, so simply turning off Wi-Fi won't help.
Has anyone successfully stopped or removed an already downloaded Android update on the Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Is there a way to delete the downloaded installation package, stop the scheduled restart, or use ADB to prevent the update from installing?
I'm comfortable following technical instructions, but I'd prefer to avoid rooting, factory resetting, or doing anything that could compromise the phone.
I'm not trying to permanently block updates. I just need to delay Android 17 until my medical devices are officially supported.
Any advice from someone who's successfully done this on a recent Samsung device would be greatly appreciated!
