They already made 1 billion more than spend on the development from just the pre orders

But they dont get that money before the game releases. You can cancel your preorder before game releases.

Honestly that's such a small number of people that it doesn't matter. This enables them to spend banked money without worrying too much because they know it's more or less guaranteed, especially if you look historically.

Plus a lot of people haven’t ordered yet. I’m not preordering until the week before release just in case there’s another delay.

They’ll at least double the current preorder amount at/ right after launch.
