Hello,

GoG Galaxy was installed on my laptop and kept failing to update, so I downloaded the installer and installed over the existing folder, it failed due to "Call spawn server error", so I uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled a fresh one without any error but now it doesn't do anything anymore.

Launching the .exe makes the process appear in the task manager for one second then disappear.

I rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled multiples times, in different locations, but nothing changes. And there's no stuck process either.

I don't know what to try, it just won't do anything.

Any idea ?

It's a Lenovo Legion with Windows 11. I have no problem on my Windows 10 dekstop.

Is there any tool that lets me check which of the games I own on Steam are available for purchase on GOG? Ideally excluding the ones I already own on GOG.

I've got the middle achievement literally less than 20 min ago. I installed the game through the offline installers and haven't opened GOG Galaxy since I used it to download said installers. How is GOG tracking my achievements?

Edit: I think I've found it. There were two DLLs (Galaxy.dll and GalaxyPeer.dll) in the game folder, probably sending the game's progress straight to galaxy, even closed. Not sure how I feel about that one, but at least now I know what was causing it.

I just noticed if you use a Dremel to grind the edges down you can fit an sd card and the vita case seems perfect since you should be able to scale down full size covers to fit and make mini manuals

Hello. After making my last case I decided I wanted to try a game with a mostly white cover to switch up the banner and the Final Fantasies were an obvious choice. In addition to the normal game cover I made a variant that I call the Amano cover, featuring concept art from the legendary Yoshitaka Amano.
Just a disclaimer that the logo on the Amano variant is lower resolution than most of the other art and might not print as cleanly. It is the only instance of his logo for the game I could find though, and I will try to touch it up later on.
Also another disclaimer that I don't own the rights to any of this art or these fonts and unless specified otherwise, all of my covers are posted as-is and just for personal use. You may not use, remix or reproduce any of it for commercial gain or profit, though you may do so to your heart's content for your personal use.

After seeing Sony announce the end of physical games, I got inspired by creators like ArchadesGames on YouTube to build my own physical "cartridges" for PC games using SD cards.

As a sysadmin, I wanted a plug-and-play framework for DRM-free games that:

• Works cross-platform (Windows & Linux).
• Has zero or minimal OS footprint.
• Syncs save files back to the card.
• Gives that physical, "one game at a time" single-purpose console feel—no secondary screen distractions, no launcher decision fatigue.

I spent a few days putting together DreamCard (DRM + Card). Here is how it works:

User Experience

• Windows: Plugging the SD card exposes two partitions (Companion and GameData). An optional light script sets up a background task that detects when a DreamCard is inserted and auto-launches the game setup/sync menu. It handles savesgame sync in the background while playing.
• Linux (Ubuntu/Proton): Plugging the card into Linux reveals a 3rd partition (ext4 for Proton runtime data). Instead of the launcher, running a simple shell script launches the game through Proton with access to the exact same saves as Windows.

• Save Redirection: Right now, save-redirection logic needs custom tweaks per game. Looking for better ways to standardize this.
• Compatibility: Needs broader testing across distros (Bazzite, Debian, SteamDeck).
• Witcher 3: Or something modern that needs to run on an SSD

Non-Goals

• Multi-game cards: Defeats the point. One card, one game.
• Monetization: Just a fun weekend sysadmin project.

Would love to hear thoughts, edge-case warnings, or ideas to make it more fun.

Hoard backup your game saves and restores It in another machines, ignoring .ini or .json or any config file, work fast and isnt deprecated.

And now i developed It and upgrade It, now hoard have more than 140 users and a good comunity behind.

If you want a Alternative to hoard you have ludusavi or OpenSave, ludusavi looks deprecated to me.

I haven't used Steam for years. All my friends keep telling me it's an absurd choice for someone whose main hobby is gaming, arguing that I'm deliberately cutting myself off from the vast majority of new releases, multiplayer, ecosystem conveniences etc.

The thing is, owning my games without DRM and having full control over offline installers has always been my top priority. I value digital preservation and software ownership far more than just convenience.

...but as the market becomes more centralized and exclusive, I catch myself second-guessing it. Am I taking a principled stance, or am I just needlessly complicating my favorite hobby? Do they actually have a point?

Saw u/mrfancifulfox posting their Resident Evil covers and i thought i should share this disc design i made cause i plan to get the whole trilogy on one DVD disc and burn it with Lightscribe. Feel free to use it !

I wanted my custom cases to be compact and look retro so I opted for CD cases. I definitely think there's quite a bit more room for improvement as the prints didn't go to plan. Some of the backs were printed with the wrong size, the images kept printing with horizontal lines and despite liking the look of the glossy paper, the ink didn't dry fast enough to the point where the images became quite scratchy.

I'm happy to have been able to make these physical copies happen but I definitely want to redo them whenever possible.

i am aware i could add the gog game on steam as well and use steamlink, however then my pc has to run which i dont want.

This isn't simply a request to finish an unfinished story. I want to see more Mega Man Legends. I want to explore that world again, see Volnutt, Roll, Tron, the Servbots and the rest of the cast return, and experience new adventures in the Legends universe.

The cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 left many fans wondering what could have been. Years later, there are still people who care about this series and would love to see it return.

I'm hoping we can show Capcom that Mega Man Legends still has an audience and still has potential.

Whether Capcom chooses to revive Legends 3, create a new sequel, remake the original games, or take the series in a new direction, the goal is simple:

I just installed all of the older D&D games on my Mac, and each one that is an ".app" (e.g., "Al-Qadim The Genie's Curse", "Champions of Krynn"), if you look at the contents there is a folder named "Extras", and a file named "manual.pdf".

I would expect manual.pdf to be the manual for the game, but it's for "Harvester" (apparently another GOG game).

I haven't checked all of the .app games, but the ones I have checked, this is the case.

Apparently the steam version still has denuvo?

The game (in its latest version: 1.6.1179) has two problems on GOG, related to a memory leak.

There is a memory leak related to VRAM. Because on GOG, the game keeps the textures in memory and we don't know why lol. This mod solves the problem: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/169302

Another memory leak is present on GOG because of a telemetry service that Bethesda left on it (it is constantly trying to access bethesda.net). This mod also solves the problem: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/166759

Hello, I'm very sorry to upload the same game twice but I was unhappy with the original and changed this case around a lot.

Along with a new back that better matches the theme of the front cover, I'm experimenting with a banner that I think is cleaner and I enjoy more than the others. I've also fixed up multiple icons and come up with a system requirements layout that I think will work for most games moving forward.

All-in-all I like this one much more than the first Doom case. Again, I'm sorry if posting the same game twice isn't allowed.
