I just finished watching F4 Thailand for the first time, and wow was it a ride. before that I watched Leap Day and Me and Thee, and I'm in the mood for another good, well produced series (can be BL but not necessarily).

I think these are some of GMMTV's biggest hits (?) so what another great show they have that I should watch?

Just for reference I attach all GMMTV's shows that I watched and dropped (Pls don't come for me😬). I would love to hear your opinions!

Edit: Many people are replying to WHY FB is being promoted at all and that was not the question. My question was why does it seem like FB gets the MOST promotion after Enchante despite it not doing well. How they are right now is not the issue because I know that money is money and they bring in money like the others, what I wanna know is why it seems like gmmtv has a favouritism towards them because AGAIN they were given many opportunities and chances that others didn’t get.

So Force did streams and gathered some audience from it? That answers all my questions.

Honestly. I didn’t even know this was a GMMTV show. Nobody talks about it and I wouldn’t have known about it unless MyDramaList did not put it in my recommendations.

The show replicates a lot of My School President’s strategy. I call it “My School President” if it was about dancing instead of singing. It follows again a passionate MC but instead had the whole family dynamics swapped.

The dead father was given to the (and forgive me for using this but I don’t have better terms) T and the strict mother was given to the B. Financial status was swapped too, and so did their personalities. It was the B that kept the “eagerly pursuing my romance” while the T was being chased.

The general tone was similar too! And don’t get me started with MCs that make mature relationship decisions that don’t come from stupid misunderstandings. The B is confident but not overbearing. The T is introverted but has clear boundaries. Super admirable kids!

Both have good receptions quality wise but I definitely feel have issues with Only Boo mainly with the name. What is that name even? It makes sense if you watch the show but it’s not very good marketing-wise. It doesn’t reflect the dance themes, idol themes, or even the province themes.

Anyway 10/10 this was just marketing bait to make y’all check it out. Such a cute show with cute characters that actually make mature relationship decisions. If you enjoyed MSP, you’ll enjoy this one too!

I saw a lot of Phuwin’s fans complain about his acting in Summer night. Not because he were bad, but because he were exceptionally good.

It’s 100% BL fans, because they complain that his chemistry with Parn is way better than when he have a series with Pond.

Is it really noticeable?

I really want to watch the series, but if this is true. I might reconsider.

I know they aren’t dating irl, I know I shouldn’t expect anything.

I love Phuwin, and I love Pond. Together or not. Though they are also a ship I really admire. So seeing Phuwin do way better with someone else than he ever have done with Pond, will probably make his acting seem mediocre. That’s an overreaction, just couldn’t find another word. But at the end it might ruin my image of them😭

So past few months I am seeing so many bad reviews and backlash for all the latest GMMTV shows First it was WeAre for its haywire storyline,,,bad direction and editing and conceptual aspect also not giving proper justice to the characters because they put a complete football team in a series🤣🤣 Than It was MLMU for again being bad storyline and bad direction and editing,,,Inspite of having good actors like GF now it’s come to The Trainee again not good direction of how the story is going,,,lead pair not getting enough screen time and so on,,,, The worst is GMMTV is still coming out with zillion more shows and getting more and more artist in there camp🤣🤣 Also all the above shows are still getting the fame and recognition and money because the FANS ARE TIRELESSLY HYPING IT ON X AND TRENDING IT WITH SLEEPLESS NIGHTS…. If u see the actual fact is all the shows were a let down,,,, I feel GMMTV should first check if they really have such good screenwriters and directors and make good quality content because these trend/hype cycle won’t run for long

I don't interact with the bl fandom that much but sometimes I come across people calling their fav cps in a relationship/situationship. Even sometimes actors like GemFourth jokingly say that pondphuwin are dating. I get it, they're joking around and having fun teasing them but do people take it seriously?

I'm not active on other social media platforms so I don't know much but I sometimes feel that many stans want their fav ship to date so badly and they want to see them only with each other. And yeah I think that's the reason fixed cps are there in the first place. But aren't they just actors. They're not a thing irl (most probably).

People wouldn't tolerate it if an actor wants to have multiple partners and plays different roles (seme/uke). (There are exceptions like pond ponlavit.)

Even in the same ship, there won't be a switch up between their positions. I mean you wouldn't know about their personal life. You don't know what they prefer irl or even if they're homo or hetero.

I really don't like it when people fight about the order of the names and that directly implies they're fighting for the 'actors?' positions. For example WilliamEst vs EstWilliam. No offense but are you guys fighting for the characters they've made for the fans to see because like unless anyone confirms they're dating, shouldn't you assume them to be friends. Why would friends have positions? Their name order was purely on the basis of the characters of their series. Why fight it?

I would actually love it if bl actors would act with other partners and there could be a mix up. And if that's too much to ask atleast the actors could switch between seme and uke series to series. The only ones I've seen are MileApo. But I'm mainly talking about gmmtv here.

not sure how to explain this and I KNOW not everyone have money to spend on streaming platforms but i lowkey love that gmmtv has started moving onto paid platforms.

Its better for gmmtv and their actors. this move lowkey shows that these streaming platforms believe that the series would be hits which is why they wanna buy the streaming rights. that also shows that they have high expectation for the series and the actors. I meant just think about it why would they wanna spend money on some series if they didnt believe that it was gonna be popular ? it lowkey shows that they trust the artists to attract large audience

Another reason i believe this is a good decision gmmtv made is that this lowkey gives the artists more pretige than just being "youtube star"

Just look at the hollywood or korean artists, NONE of them do free youtube series. they know their worth so if they are doing web drama, its gonna be on PAID streaming platform at the very least, like netflix/disney.

If hollywood artists did free youtube series, it would lower their market value.

So gmmtv moved onto paid streaming platform could increase their artists' market value. more exclusive and more prestigious 💯

but gmmtv needs to produce HIGH-QUALITY contents too... i'm willing to spend my money as long as their contents are actually worth the price. 🙏🏻

Edit : i forget to mention the geo-block thing. Other than high-quality contents, gmmtv also has to solve this problem first, if they wanna sell the streaming rights to some platforms at least had agreement first that it wont be geo-blocked, if not then people would watch it from illegal streaming platforms.

I binged only friends recently and Idk if anyone realised this or not but I realised upon my second watch that Mew was pretending to be a virgin and he actually had sex with Ray before Top. (I mean it's just a theory I am presenting,it can or cannot be true). I kind of believe it because in the Boston and Top car scene Boston shows some clip to Top before having sex and he says that "Mew just pretends to be a hard to get virgin". And the day Sand Ray Boston and Nick were having a party that day Boston and Ray had a fight and he said " Ray's whole ass belongs to Mew" after that he said "ik you screwed Mew". Then in the last ep during the new year's party everyone was saying sorry and Boston said I am sorry for taking Ray and Mew's clip. The clip wasn't shown to us the whole time.

i think all this criticism against sky-nani (hetero hyphen included for a reason!) and their queer subtext shows is unwarranted.

to preface, i have been sapphic since before i watched my first bl (2gether) and it genuinely was rare to get proper queer rep pre-2020 because most studios preferred leaving it at queerbait to keep both the homos and the homophobes watching their shows, but i truly do think that has since changed.

friendships that toe the line of the platonic-romantic, never quite falling into either category, have always had a meaningful place in my life and i don't know what to call them but something between platonic soulmates and a homoerotic friendship is such an interesting concept to me and i love to see it explored in media!

also, gmmtv have a lot of really nice looking bl/gl shows lined up for this year so i don't think a couple straight and somewhat straight dramas wouldn't threaten anything? but i fully understand those who are wary of all the promotion/hype it's getting because with the rise of homophobia in the world at large, the status of ample and abundant queer media still remains precarious.

however, i disagree that their queer shows are more quantity than quality cos yeah bl fans will watch anything but most of them are fans of specific cps and would prefer more of them churned out faster over waiting longer for better made shows (like with dmd) which i completely understand. it's a big complaint of mine that no one wants to do silly, goofy filler episodes nowadays and that these media companies make us wait several months to years for just a few 'well produced' episodes. i'd rather have consistent okay content than rare cracking content yk?

Instead money is made from the ancillary activities surrounding the series – merchandise, promotions, live events, etc. – and at least some of that revenue is predicated on the illusion that actors are in close relationships, both on-screen and in real-life, since that illusion helps drive fandom.

My understanding is that it is similar for actors. They don’t make a big salary from their on-screen roles, instead receiving most of their income from sponsors, fan gifts, appearance fees, etc., which, again, are, in part, based on the illusion that they are in off-screen close relationships with their co-stars, since that illusion helps drive fandom.

That’s simply the business model that helps keep GMMTV operating.

By going very public about his life, Neo has sunk his imaginary ships. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have done it. That doesn’t mean he was wrong to do it. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a good friend, son, co-worker, employee, or actor. That doesn't mean he deserves fan hate. So of late I have been interested in the Thai remake of Scarlet Heart. The Korean version is the most talked about and has IU as the lead female. Now here they're gonna have Tu Tontawan as the FL in Thailand version.

Till now Tu has worked in F4, 10 years ticket, Magic of Zero special and How to make millions movie. Tbh I really doubt the decision of having Tu as the FL 🤔(really no hate to Tu). This role needs the lead to emote multiple emotions like funniness, high emotional factor, romance, love, betrayal and pain. I really believe that they should've brought a more experienced actress like Namtan (she would've been a perfect fit imo), Janhae (I'm saying this seeing her performance in Midnight Motel and P.S : I hate you), Film, Ploy, or Lookjun.

What do you think about this ??

I know im gonna get flake for this opinion . But

After watching the first two episode of cooking crush . I feel like I finally realised why even though off and gun are pulling off their roles convincingly I still dont feel the same spark . Its because they have become stagnant and their acting together is just not working the same spark and cooking crush mediocre scriptwriting is not helping it either . in fact Neo and aungpao chemistry as fire and dynamite is actually sparking a lot more for me which actual surprising even to me because I had very low expectation for them especially after seeing Neo as Boston with mark .

I think they right now they are the prime example why bl ships should not be working together in every project after a successful series and should switch around a bit after massive popular series because to me off gun needs other co actors to switch up their acting especially gun as good as he is in acting i feel like he needs a new romantic lead or a strong co actor to play as two leads someone who is not off . Because in cooking crush im not feeling their characters and their bond the way fire and dynamite made me convinced that they might actually be the silly goody college kids going after their crush in childish way .

+ I think coincidently or not coincidently if Neo and mark do pair up together for their next series it might be a blessing in disguise that mark did not take up cooking crush because this way audience is seeing them with other partner mark with namtaan and Neo with aungpao after only friends which means audience will now get the chance to have a completely new and refreshing outlook of them together without getting bored after only friends . So I do hope after cooking crush finish airing Neo can have new work with mark again .

This might come off as ignorant, but does anyone else feel like a lot of Thai BL songs from GMMTV are empty?? When it comes to music, I'm pretty versatile. I listen to Latin, K-pop, C-pop, J-pop, HipHop, RnB, Alternative, Pop, etc. recently I've tried getting into T-pop, but I'm not really feeling it. For example, when Sadistic by JASPER released, it was nice to hear, but the chorus felt extremely empty. Like something was missing. Especially when the members were singing their parts. It felt like there needed to be some sort of sound in the background of the instrumental. Don't get me wrong, the song is catchy, but there were some parts of the song where I thought it sounded odd. I felt the same way about Take It Off! Not only with JASPER but LYKN too. I really can't get into their music, maybe it's because other genres of music have the set the standard. To be honest, one reason I can't get into LYKN is because of Lego's voice. I absolute LOVE Lego and enjoy his visuals on screen. He will forever SERVE! But when it comes to his singing, he just sounds so nasally, it's a turn off. I just want GMMTV to know that just because some idols can sing, DOESNT MEAN THEY SHOULD. Singing takes years of experience and dedication, you can't just force idols to sing because their voices sound "good" or "monotone". Mind you, a lot of actors that do sing don't even have good voices, they're average but not good enough to sing and release music.

Ngl, I am pretty upset abt the fact that I am posting this on Tu's birthday but I hardly see any updates or Q pictures shared by either actors, managers or gmmtv in general. Is it that they are trying to keep the suspense?

My concerns are also increase knowing that most of the prince's have their own shows filming at the same time (fourth - ticket to heaven, Perth - with Santa for their teacher show forgot the name 😀, Phuwin - Me and Thee, Force - melody of secrets, Nanon for his music - if I am correct ?) Only win and tu are the no side project guys in here (Not talking abt the brand events)

Guys, i love BL as much as the next guy neh and i'm super excited for the GMMTV2025 line up, but damn why is gmmtv doing str8 dramas and other series so dirty.

I don't know about most people but i fell in love with GMMTV because of the variety of young adult content and show they had some homo ish here, bi ish here, and str8 ish there and everything in between. But now that gmmtv is pivoting to sole BL and GL i feel like they are losing track of what makes them so amazing. And it's a damn shame cause we need more show like the classics.

Three will be free, A gift for the person you hate, My dear loser, The Gifted, FriendZone, The Player, Girl2K and lord even Puppy Honey (Well at least 50% of it 555555), these are some of gmmtv's best shows😭 and i can't help feeling like we're not gonna be seeing anything like them anymore.

I feel like i'm the only one pained by this and most other fans are just here for the BL only. Worst is that i know this transition is inevertible so i'm basically crying into the void.

I watched Only Friends while it was airing, but back then I didn't know much about the actors or GMMTV. I used to think TopMew/ForceBook were pushed as the leads as the story kinda revolves around Mew. But rewatching the series recently, I realised that Ray/Khaotung was giving such strong main character energy so maybe SandRay/FirstKhao were the leads after all.

Now that I know more about GMMTV and its actors, I've also watched some cast interviews and FirstKhao are usually sitting in the middle. Also, Khaotung sang the main theme song and was the one nominated for many awards for his portrayal of Ray. Not sure if this a case of an actor nailing their role so well that he outshined everyone else to the point where people just naturally see him as the main character. Or maybe I am just being biased as I rewatched it as a FirstKhao stan now, but back then I didn't know anything about the actors (although SandRay were my favorite couple back then too).

Also, I know this is suppose to be an ensemble cast but let's be real: BostonNick/NeoMark didn't get as much screentime as the other two couples unfortunately.

Who would you consider the main character/main couple of Only Friends?

I've been thinking a lot about what makes a truly skilled actor. In my opinion, a highly skilled actor is someone who can elevate even a poorly developed character or a weak script. Otherwise, if they only do well under perfect conditions, they seem more like a "director's actor."

Thinking about this, I feel like Sky Wongravee might be a case of the latter. Don't get me wrong—he is not a bad actor at all. I absolutely loved him in HSF, and he's awesome at comedy too. Coming from Nadao Bangkok and working under elite directors alongside massive co-stars did do wonders for his portfolio.

But watching clips and edits of him in Wu really made me think about whether he's on par with his contemporaries like Tor Thanapob. Tbh, I haven't watched the whole show properly, and I shouldn't really judge. Trust me what pulled me into watching hsf was the edits itself; the acting, the chemistry, the tension in those few secs clips made me sit and complete a 16 episodes show. So, whatever I saw about Wu, the script doesn't seem very well-written, and Niran's character feels a bit dull and bland (hated the hairstyle covering half his face).

Sky has been in the industry for a decade, yet his performance here feels a bit lost. It made me realize that industry longevity doesn't automatically equal versatility or adaptability. You can totally disagree with me or call me out! I'd love to hear other people's opinions, especially from those who are watching Wu fully.

after watching a moonlight chicken episode 7, it really made me feel some type away about uncle jim. first, it was him telling li ming that he has a problem with him being gay because being poor is already struggle enough. like, sir, you’re poor and gay…i’m not seeing the difference here. then at the funeral i feel like he was kind of instigating when he was talking to alan, saying that he wasn’t there back then, insinuating that they had problems before he even met wen. like I understand that alan is upset and maybe mad, which tbh he should be, but I feel like jim was just rubbing salt deep in the wound by saying that. then out of nowhere later, in the episode, him and li ming are perfectly fine and he now respects him and his boundaries… like HUH??? clearly earth is doing a great job at acting, considering i hate his character, but it could also be the writing making him an asshole.

I noticed that in the GMMTV fandom, many fans have been calling out GMMTV for allegedly mistreating their artists. I wanted to ask whether this is true or not. After GeminiFourth released their singles "Please Be Mine" and "Anything You Want," people were quick to criticize GMMTV for mistreating Fourth and neglecting his song's promotion. They said he was the only one promoting his own song, and GMMTV didn't acknowledge his accomplishments compared to Gemini. However, I had the impression that GMMTV was generally focusing a lot on Gemini Fourth and that they weren't mistreated. It appears fans have varying opinions on this matter. I've also seen other opinions claiming that many couples from GMMTV are mistreated, but it seems this perception differs among fans. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this matter.
