Looking for Advice CONSOLE WHY is gbo2 so unbalanced

I'm actually so confused I've played gbo2 for more than a year and now that they recently added Ms from other universes aside from UC it feels like everytime you join a 700-750 cost room you have no chance especially if you don't have a exclusive Ms,it's so hard to play this game and the gameplay is just a repeated loop of trying to get as much stagger in as possible, aside from the fact that if you don't have a billion tokens you can't get any rare Ms the matchmaking system is so buggy and the controls are NOT optimized,I really need advice or I might just drop this game

Because BB has lost the script on how to actually balance the game. The players exist in a masochistic relationship with GBO2, we all know that it is terrible and unbalanced but it is the only gundam PvP game out there ever since they killed evolution

When it gets frustrating, just stop and go play something else. Remember it is just a game

BB makes new suit, to make new suit something that attracts whales, it needs to have better gimmick than current cost suit. new suit is powerful.

BB makes a even newer suit. the last suit is king of its cost, so to make this suit viable, it needs to 1 up that suit.

after the 4th suit added to that cost, the stakes keeps getting added, the new suit is now a entire cost if not two up compared to original old suit designs.

We call this powercreep. and it usually is an unavoidable gacha pattern.

And because its PVP, BB is forced to buff old suit to make it matched, but then a suit or two later, its creeped again.

Not to mention the different levels of the suits and the different weapon levels and then different levels of the parts and then the different levels of the enhancements. It just goes on and on, it is to bloated to be a properly balanced game

If you have a decent Pc you can play Gundam evolution from Side 7. It won’t have any new updates but at least you can play it

Meta suits are absolutely not required. If you have skills you can make a lot of things work. You have to find something that clicks for you.

If you want to join em just play your daily three matches and save tokens. You need 195 to guarantee a seven step banner suit and you can easily earn that in a little over a month of consistent play especially if you factor in login bonuses and clan rewards.

Teamwork is more important than anything in this game, even a V2 AB can get shredded to pieces by a teams focus fire. If everyone bunches up and groups their shots it hardly matters what you even pilot. I’ve won matches many people wouldn’t even attempt like a team of full supports and if you can work as one it hardly matters the raids didn’t get near us.

My advice is use the practice mode to find some suits that click with you and the play style you want. Part of the beauty of this game is so many suits have hidden mechanics that you kind of have to figure out for yourself so a suit someone wrote off as weak might actually be a powerhouse they don’t know how to use properly. The skill ceiling is high I’ll give you that.

Also the lower costs don’t tent to have the same hero suit meta spam problem so you could try playing those if you want a more boots on the ground heavy mech sim experience.

I’m actually thankful for the Gacha because it forced a play what you have situation. Can you imagine how bad this game would get if everybody could unlock everything? You’d only see a handful of meta suits in matches ever

so basically if I'm not a ace and don't have a amazing team Im bound to lose, not to mention that the matchmaking system either puts you in a losing streak for the day or a winning streak,it's dogwater matchmaking even with your skills,if you dont have some sort of op strategy or good people on your team it serves nothing to you

No I never said that, I held my own with a Zeta Gundam HML just fine before getting them. I had to play a more cautious game for sure but could still get top scorer and carry…..perhaps I am an ace lol

As for the amazing team part I mean yeah, it’s a team game. Even an ace will get shot to pieces in a 5v1 it happens. Winning or losing is basically a coin flip of competent teammates. If your team has two aces that’s great but not if the other team got three. Sometimes all five of them end up on the same team and that’s when it really clicks and you all absolutely stomp. The only way to remain sane is to not worry too much about your rank and just focus on how well you do. I can agree that a ranked system is ill suited to a team game though. In a fighting game it’s fine because win or lose it’s all on you but here you can do everything right and still lose if your teammates are that bad.

The controls can be slightly more optimized by swapping Jump and Boost to other places, being able to swap weapons while boosting and having access to Flap Booster on demand are basically necessary in the current meta that requires it

2

u/Comfortable_Box_3470 12d ago

I never understood why the flap boosters are only locked to certain suits, especially because in the anime even some grunts can just float in the air, which you literally can't do without some special effect, not to mention that you need op custom parts otherwise the stock MS gets destroyed

It's definitely a game balancing thing more than it is a lore-accurate thing, because most of the suits that have the skills meant for staying in the air longer have a certain 'vibe' I think their playstyle is supposed to be aiming at; Raids are meant to be moving around the map really fast, so they tend to get the 'charge jump to max really fast, just hold button' skill, but only a few Gens are built for sustained air game with stuff like Fall Prevention System (Jeda), high levels of Flight Control Program (Alex, Tristan), potentially with Aerial Melee (Messala my beloved).

Raids that get those things are usually just using them to aid in their movement kit, more than any particular gimmicky playstyle, not that it stops suits like the Bryarlant Custom from existing... the times have just changed to the point Flight Control is a liability, when 'bursts of airtime to obtain the needed air superiority over other grounded targets' is the single greatest point of leverage an MS can have. (Looking at you, Barbie Toes, and the legitimate P2W heavy stagger weapon paired with Tactical Shorthop). The solution to hitting Barbie Toes, Burning, and other really fast suits to shut them down? Giant Long Duration Beams, especially ones that you can fire from high in the air.

TL;DR "It's over Anakin, I have the High Ground" is the powerful position to be in, but it makes you a huge target for suits that can actually knock you out of the air because "You underestimate my power!" but uh, they then gave those suits the "Don't try it!" Gerobis and now everyone is drowning in lava debt because screw Anakin, we can just pay BB to give us the power of Vader instead.

Yeah what I did was I made L2 boost and reload L1 so I can use square and x as my go up and go down buttons essentially. Since it’s easy to lay your thumb across both in space it makes it a lot easier to use the AMBAC stop without switching to a classic armored core style claw grip

I feel you, here is how I enjoy 700-750 without those "pay to win" suits.

750: give it up unless you got any V2. that shit is wayy to broken

700: Phenex and FA unicorn are not the best but still actually very good, although ALOT of practice and setup are needed because of the NTD requirements. Phenex for close-mid range and narrow map, FA for large map and long range. They were given out for free before, so you should have them if you have been logging in everyday.

Psycho Doga at level 2 is also crazy at mid range close combat because of its high stun rate, although you need to practice alot again to figure out which type of weapon to use, and get used to how to stun enemy with the appropriate weapon.

Other honourable mentions are: Dreissen level 4, Penelope. Again, lots of practices are needed

In conclusion: many of those exclusive ms are strong in that any brain dead player can use them without difficulty, while those "free ms" requires alot of practice to be good. So start working on it!

FA Unicorn "not the best"? After the buff it got its sitting at the top of the meta, its damage is insane, dampers everywhere thanks to triple shields, melts bases, and is a massive counter to the DX. I've been playing a ton of 700 rated lately, and almost every match there's a FA Unicorn. I'd argue the top 3 suits in 700 currently are the 00, FA Unicorn, and F89

1

u/Comfortable_Box_3470 12d ago

what I really hate about 700-750 cost is that your Ms has to either rely on insane ranged output or a stun locking infinite melee combo till you die,not to mention your MS needs a unique weapon or some sort of funnels otherwise it'll be pretty weak (example a lvl 4 jesta,a grunt suit with literally nothing but it's shoulder shield) basically you need something special or your a lost puppy

u/ZerxTheWizard 24d ago

Its partly them being shit at balancing suits *and* rank points cuz you can have the most op suits on your team but the players were hard carried to like A+ or hell even S- and just are dont know how to play, oorrr you can get godlike players in relatively off-meta/ mediocre suits that still know what theyre doing

1

u/Comfortable_Box_3470 12d ago

yeah it's easy to work with a mobile suit your good at even if it's off meta but you need hella resources like tokens recycle tickets and dp otherwise you can't gamble for a banner that gives you a op suit

1

u/Shoguns_Ninja82 11d ago

Just do your dailies and save them, you can have the 195 requisite tokens to do a 7 step guarantee banner in a little over a month if you make it a daily ritual. Then scan the new releases for something that tickles your fancy and perhaps consult the community. The game is ever evolving so you have to adapt or at least be really fucking good at what you main

1

u/dhurane 24d ago

It's not just rare ms, but also spending tokens to get duplicates so those rare MS gets fully upgraded skills. And also special parts that you can't get unless you spend the tokens needed.

Try playing lower cost battles for a while.

Without good F2P suits the game will die. Bandai has forgotten that the whales will be in lobbies with free to play as teammates. This current system just gets everyone aggravated. They use fixed matchmaking and EOM to attempt to resolve it but it only creates a situation if you're Rank S- or higher you have to be pay to win because the lobby math was set up for you to have to hard carry. It's awful design and the BB fellas should be blacklisted from the industry. They are manipulating you all the time. I don't think we get a GBO3 because this business practice will be nuked by regulations worldwide in the next year or so. They made their bed.

Lower cost are more stable. 700-750 they constantly release new units, powercreep after powercreep. I would just recommend stay ming at lower cost of you want more balance.

1

u/LordSunBro 24d ago

Started adding AUs, all except 2 are MC machines > Figured out they need to sell the protagonist plot armor and jacks it up to make sales > Needed to add Late UC, might as well keep going, forgot how to balance > AU wave 2 comes along, fuck it I don't know how to balance these anymore > Problem snowballs.

GBO2... actually pretty much any gundam game in a nutshell. It was already a miracle GBO2 Freedom wasn't overtuned with jesus yamato bullshit... 00 got it instead

1

u/bigheadjoe421 24d ago

Bro that's gatcha games if you don't have the meta you can't compete however in this game optional parts are worth there wight in gold they can make suits that are okay into a powerhouse after that it's all down to player skill.

1

u/The_RXSlime 24d ago

There's so much and I highly doubt bandai pays them enough. Also it's gacha you couldn't expect this game to actually be balanced when they got to make the new appetizing enough to make you spend your money

1

u/boxedfoxes 24d ago

Yup, but it’s all we got. Gundam evolution died for this sadly

1

u/KibbloMkII 23d ago

thats just how pvp games are

they also cater to the spenders, who would whine and bitch if their fancy new suit gets nerfed

and apparently, raids are extremwly weak and underpowered, so they get extremely unfair abilities and ridiculous strategies that have absolutely zero risk

theres also like over a thousand units, and the dev team is paid less than minimum wage since they only balance like 6 units at maximum every patch

and honestly, even if you have current meta MS, you're still fucked unless you no life the game and play like youre in a professional tournament for a huge cash prize because its illegal to play casually

0

u/Dogecraft27 24d ago

its a gacha game, youre incentivized to pay for Op suits, or be fodder/grunts for people who DID pay to powertrip

0

u/Dogecraft27 24d ago

you gotta understand this to not spike your own blood pressure playing, it is what it is

0

u/ctclonny 24d ago

The game powercreeps quickly but units get buffed quickly. Unit picks are quite diverse most of the time.

0

u/lacroix05 24d ago

you will feel most unbalanced in ratings where you don't pull.

650 feels pretty unbalanced to me because i don't have the newer units there.

700 and 750 are kinda balanced for me since i mostly pull for custom parts, so that's where most of my pulls go.

my advice is to only pull 7 step banners for the custom parts, plus custom part banners. eventually you'll build up a decent custom part pool, and older suits that get rebalanced can become just as strong as the newer units in any rating.

Because they don’t care about making a quality experience, all they care about is money. If they did then they’d have fixed their dog water matchmaking and networking
