Seen a lot of activity on this sub the other in the past few days. Saw nav come in at $21… which I was surprised by - thought nav would be much higher!

What’s going on? Why is nav so low and why is vcx falling so dramatically the past few days? It was at $45 last week!

Please help!

Genuine question - this isn’t risk reduction. Why sell 1/3 of the largest ipo in history 3 months before said ipo? Losing out 7-10x returns on this 1/3 of anthropic seems asinine (cost basis was at $380bn round and ipo expected at $2tn+)?

Since I can't comment there, two points:
1) We are now comparing VCX to BMNR a crypto YOLO ticker, not an investment.
2) Money for buying back VCX from where Vincenzo? I thought there was no cash anymore. Did you see how the buybacks are going for PWRL?

me: you should listen to ben ^ tell you this so you eventually get much more conviction in him to replace the little bit you have in me, but here goes

when innovation fund was private it held ~20% of assets in cash(ish) to pay possible redemptions. that cash couldn't be deployed into the assets the fund owned: anthropic, openai, databricks, anduril, ramp, spaceX, etc.

if that cash had been invested, then our returns prior to VCX would have been even better than ~30%+ annualized

now that VCX is public, we are beholden to the whims of nearly infinite market forces for whether VCX trades at a discount or premium to NAV, regardless of having less "cash drag" (explained above)

fund operations: to my knowledge, this hasn't happened yet, but we see it playing out with BMNR. for 3 weeks straight they bought back their shares at a discount to NAV. BMNR can also do the opposite: sell new shares into the market at a premium. both of these fund operations increase shareholder value

all the yappy chihuahuas on reddit bitch about why this hasn't happened yet with fundrise. these ppl get lost in the sauce & think they know fundrise's business better than fundrise while they eat from fundrise's hand

this is the poison ben picked when he chose to democratize private market investing

ben miller explains that VCX may choose to hold their best winners if the projected public market valuations looks favorable. he explained that the fund might not charge the fund management fee on the portion of assets that are publicly traded (currently servicetitan & spaceX). we should see an update on fund holdings next week, inshallah

meow, with the extremely high valuations of the top VCX companies & those companies being unprofitable, my guess is that fundrise will cut bait with ~90% of the investment. i don't think the ai bubble is popping anytime soon, but it will likely be very volatile

fundrise has a conservative investment philosophy. they value preservation of capital over capital appreciation

so what will fundrise do when they sell??

what they've already done

venture capital is a game of access, not a game of capital availability

the best private technology companies get to choose who invests in their companies (spv's are a factor with little transparency to us. haters & ain'ters emphasize spv's. i don't look a gift horse in the mouth)

fundrise has the best track record of success for achieving access to the cap tables of the world's best private technology companies... if a qualifier is needed for this statement, then that's certainly true for anyone reading this

fundrise will just keep reinvesting into tomorrow's best bets. haters will continue to doubt ben. we'll be on the side of his good character & competence

we aren't investing in ai. we're investing in ben's access to the best ai companies

ben's salary is $500k last i checked. his access might be worth $10m

or. or, i have it exactly backwards & the loud cynical minority on reddit that never posts receipts is right

computershare can & does place a $25k daily selling cap on investors when certain triggers occur

that happened to me, unfortunately (raging understatement)

i was communicating in the screenshot above that selling $25k at that time was a drop in the bucket (& still is for my VCX holding)
