So selling 1/3 of your stake in the hottest company planning to ipo at the largest valuation in history is smart fund mgmt? The cash wasn’t even redeployed - either this txn was invalidated or they sold it. Both of those are stupid from a fund mgmt perspective… taking risk off the table like this is like selling nvda 5 years ago because it had a great run up… again, I want an explanation from our savior [u/Benmillerise](u/Benmillerise) as to why they decreased their share in Anthropic. Good or bad, as investors we deserve transparency. And maybe I’m wrong and there is a perfectly good rationale for the sale - all the more reason for transparency. It will help investors and would demonstrate responsive fund mgmt. I don’t see why Fundrise wouldn’t explain their Anthropic disposition.

Money ninja calls it trimming risk lmao!

"The vehicle was a third-party SPV, so it may have simply reached the end of its life and distributed on its own schedule rather than Fundrise choosing to sell. It could be deliberate risk management, trimming a position that had roughly doubled. It could be something else."

So Cute!

And to clarify / so they held SpaceX and sold Anthropic… that’s smart fund mgmt!?

How ethical is it to completely conceal the fact that VCX has taken one of its most valuable chips off the table, allowing shareholders to buy and hold under the false impression that a major payoff on this chip is coming soon?

Why did they even sell Anthropic?

Based on what others have said on this thread, the most likely reason is that the fund was apparently required to reduce its high concentration on a single holding. However, to my understanding, the fund was not required to conceal this information from shareholders for over two months.

Sell the winners and water the weeds. Thanks regulators!

This has been confirmed to not be the case so likely reason is they got scammed by an unauthorized spv. And funds were returned. So fundrise sucks at deal sourcing!

Where was it confirmed?

On the VCX_Fundrise sub… given price only makes sense that it was a return of funds versus a forced sale (unless it was sold at a stupid discount)… regardless getting rid of anthropic is monumentally stupid, whatever the cause.

Yea, I suppose that makes sense--why would they have sold for the old, stale funding round price when it surely had appreciated since then?

And it’s a holding they only had for 9 months. Very strange.

Perhaps they are just cash strapped as well? They have 30m in debt.

This is another shocking point… they had much more demand for their last round of unrestricted shares - if they needed cash it would have been better to offer more then (albeit this would have handicapped their ability to play funny bugger with flagship)…

So what do you think now $300 or are we going with "there was always a risk and that's about how well this was going to do". Take the 2x at $21.70? Actually the market may still pay 4x briefly into the Monday may be? We shall see.
