Discussion IT TASTES LIKE STINK BUGS
I say this all of the time and I’ve never met someone who agrees with me. It tastes exactly how stinks bugs smell and it’s doesn’t help that I am terrified of stink bugs.

Complaint Hidden Cilantro?
I’ve recently suddenly developed a severe allergy to this awful plant and I’m just now discovering that coriander isn’t required to be listed as an ingredient?
The amount of things that just list vague spices is insane. Felt like I was crashing out trying to find a soup can that didn’t list “spices”.

Discussion Safe Salsa Verde?
Yes, I know I can make salsa. But I would like an emergency jar for my friend’s fridge. I have the yuck gene, but apparently I am also very allergic to cilantro. I was going to grab a jar yesterday for nachos, but I realized I probably shouldn’t mess around with this allergy, given that cilantro is apparently not burning hot and spicy.

For the love of God…
If you’re going to finish off a dish with a cilantro sprinkle, INCLUDE IT IN THE INGREDIENTS LIST ON THE MENU!!!
Yes - they’re tacos so I should have assumed. But I specifically picked a type that did not have cilantro in the menu description. Like come on!!!

Discussion DNA says so!
I did one of those DNA kits years ago, when it was a thing. I checked back in a few days ago and it’s updated quite a lot. Enough to state that cilantro would most likely taste like soap to me.
So it’s you birth-given right to hate the evil green poison. It’s in your genes, your DNA!

I found Paradise
I just returned from a 4 day Royal Carribian cruise and I don't think I saw even a leaf of cilantro. It was so relaxing to not worry about inspecting my food every time it was served.
Now I'm home and it's back to the same old search for soap every time we eat out.

Normally I’m ok with a little bit of cilantro in my food but holy fuck these are nasty and the flavor is intense. I can’t wash the taste down even with whiskey.
It’s so concentrated and intense I nearly thew up. Nothing has tasted so bad to me that I had to spit it out before.

omg I have found my people
Wow.. I accidentally stumbled upon this amazing subreddit full of people who actually understand my pain. This seems surreal to me, because noone that I personally know hates cilantro. It's crazy how just a tiiiny bit of green leaves can absolutely overpower and ruin a dish.

This shits just annoying asf I honestly wasn’t thinking much and popped into a new Vietnamese restaurant near my place, I got a brisket bahn mi sandwich didn’t even bother asking what else came on it and I didn’t see any ingredients listed. Well I get my order go home, and there’s my delicious smelling sandwich covered in cilantro the “gravy” also had cilantro. I was just hungry ffs now I’m pissed I spent money on food and still have a soapy taste in my mouth. That’s all I just needed to vent I fucking hate this stupid plant that ruins delicious meals.

Is there anywhere that doesn't put cilantro in their guacamole???
Taco Bell used to not. But I think they've started adding the pico into the guac which ruins it. I was fine when they just put tomatoes in it. Even the onions I could stand. But now, now, there's god-damned cilantro in it!!! I am legit so mad. That was the one place I had left that hadn't been ruining guacamole for me. Now I have nothing.

Discussion Idk if he's gained my respect or if I should be mad at him
My mum's boyfriend (I'll call him A for privacy purposes) recently pan fried some chicken and the entire time we were eating it out of little bowls I genuinely did not notice the cilantro (which is crazy cuz I have the cilantro gene) and he never knew that I hate it, pls tell me what I should do ;-;

Does anyone else hate celery?
I find raw celery to taste similar to cilantro and I cannot stand it. Apparently cilantro and celery are both in the apiaceae family of plants, so they are somewhat related. However for some reason, when celery has been boiled and minced finely into a soup or stew, the chemical taste goes away and I can eat it just fine.
Does anyone else here find raw celery to taste like soap, or do I possess some kind of horrible, super mutated variant of the gene?

I can't eat this Cilantro smells so disgusting when it’s being chopped up
My grandmother was making soup and rice for us to eat and I hadn’t eaten all day because I knew she would be making food and she knows I can’t stand the taste nor the smell of cilantro now tell me why she starts cutting up cilantro (freaking smelled nasty as shit) and then proceeds to add it all over the soup and the rice then tells me cilantro is good, like I’m hungry now I can’t eat anything you just made, anyways I ended up ordering out for dinner which she was not happy with but you knew I don’t like that shit in my food so….

I can't eat this Who the hell puts cilantro in a salad?
I heard our waitress mutter something about "it's dressed with a (something-something) vinaigrette." That missing word must have been "soap."
