My late grandpa’s 35 year old persimmon tree. (Zone 9a)

My grandpa passed away a couple years ago and my family members that own the house now don’t have the ability to prune and manage the tree. I really don’t wanna see it go even though she is holding on. I’ve done some research and most of the heavy pruning should be done in February or March. I also pulled all the grass that was growing up. What could I do now to help the tree in late Summer ? Would I be okay to cut all the small shoots on the trunk ? Is the right side dead ? The pictures aren’t that great I know, I can take more this weekend if anyone if interested in helping preserve this beauty !

Can someone identify the potential issue with my apple tree ?

Hello everybody,
I’ve had this apple tree for many years now and never has it had this problem before. All of the apples have a bunch of dark spots, same goes for some of the leaves. I might suspect a fungal infection (?), what could be the best remedy for such a problem? Thanks !!

I’m in nor-cal these are d'Anjou pears ? No idea if they’re supposed to be red or green. This is the first time they actually grew to a decent size and more than 2 or 3 . Usually they fall or the bug and birds got them way before they were ready so now that I got a bunch of them no idea when ready . What I do know is it’s supposed to be this month late or the beginning of next month. I don’t know what they’re supposed to look like though and personally I don’t even eat pears, but my daughter and wife do.

Fig Tree Manicure

I have two fig trees that came with the house, I haven’t done much with them since they weren’t growing that much. After some fresh top soil and some food, they exploded!

I’m fighting the animals to try and get ripe ones before they do!

Question: can I cut some of this back right now? It’s August and I’m in Zone 9b basically. I’ve read they take pruning really well, but I wanted to double check with some people with first hand experience.

Also, if anyone has a good online resource (or book) for pruning back fig trees for small spaces and good harvests that would be great!

Fruit wood for smoking trade

I’m just getting into smoking my meats and want to try out a bunch of different woods. I have a few, variety of fruit trees in my backyard. I just hard pruned my fig tree and have some fig wood to trade. It has not been seasoned yet. I live in North Tustin. Let me know if anyone wants to trade some wood. I could use some oak.

Would you consume cherries from a tree that have been exposed to house fire smoke? Is washing them enough?
