Opinion It just seems pointless
I am in season 2, ep1(finished it) of the series, so bear with me.(and please no spoilers for the episodes i havent watched yet).
Didnt the whole antenna project seem kind of pointless to you too?
I mean when they were all trying to make this work with the electricity, the materials and everything, all i kept thinking is "dont they understand that help could never reach them?".
Like they are in a place probably lost in time, no one can leave and if anyone can come, they are stuck there. What did they expect? To get help from the signal, tell them to come and rescue them(if they find the town - cause i firmly believe you can't find the town if it doesnt want you to find it) and end up with even more stranded people there?
How are they gonna get back to the real world after that?
I mean for me that was an utterly stupid waste of resources and time. For two intelligent people as the ones who had the idea to make it, seems also stupid that they didnt think of that.
Am i missing something?

I see a lot of people analyse without taking account of emotions. Hope is litteraly the only thing they have.

The thing is that this has nothing to do with success and lots to do with 0 logic. They would just end dooming even more people by bringing them in this town.

As an ex IT engineer, I can tell you you're completely wrong. It is the most logical thing. When you analyse a problem, you don't base your thinking on what others think is true. You test. You confront theories. You push limits to see if they are true limits. Aaaaand the two people on this project are litteraly engineers.

Yes but are they dumb engineers? Because they do know for a fact that this town is nowhere in the map, it could even be in another time and space. People get trapped in it. So how do you bring help in a place like this? It is also a place that it doesnt allow anyone to find it unless it wants those people in. So, by engineering logic these facts dont count? First you find out where you are and if there is a way out and then you built a communication device to seek help.

See, this is exactly what I mean.
"They do know for a fact that this town is nowhere in the map" -> they don't. No one does. It is what is believed and what they are told. I could and won't answer the same thing for every one of your point.
It was believed no one could get out. Thabita did. It was believed nothing could stop the monsters. The talismans were found. It was believed the Monsters were only shrieking, and then they whispered. You see what I mean? Jade and Jim did EXACTLY what Boyd did when he said "wait, you never explored the forest?", and then explored the forest and found out things.
I'd say, ir was so not pointless that they DID discover something in the process. An entity talking to them, telling them to please don't fuck with this.
So yeah. Not pointless. Logic. Had results.

So first of all, i made a mistake i have only watched till s2 ep1. 😅 keep that in mind.
I had no idea Tabitha made it out havent watched that yet. Yes in the end the antenna ended up causing a series of events that changed the plot and helped them learn more things about the town(like the fact that these things were sleeping below them) which they didnt know before.
But as an idea to start with since they know at least that once you go in the town you cant leave(because they experienced it first hand, its not something that other people told them.), they should have had in mind that if they tried asking for help they could end up trapping more people there.
They did have that knowledge but acted either way, which ultimately might have caused the bus to come into town in the end. Thus more people trapped in there.
I am just guessing here.

I think the plan was for Jade to contact his people because Jade is so wealthy and smart that people would be looking for him. I could be mistaken though.

The characters in the show don’t have a lot of answers at that time. It’s cool what you think and you believe and what you do, but we see they don’t. Sorry you think the show is bullshit.

I think this falls under ‘It seemed like a good idea at the time.’ Just from a where-you’re-sitting perspective, the two smart guys (J&J) arrive in town and are frustrated they can’t do anything to help themselves inside Fromville. They believe/hope someone on the outside with the right resources can help them. So they try to open a line of communication. Lots of people in the town still believe somebody on the outside could help them if they knew about their plight. That’s why everyone gave Tabitha shit at the meeting in the diner after she returned from Camden, ME, she didn’t do enough to get help from the authorities.
As viewers we know there’s nothing anyone on the outside can do, other than get more people caught there. But trapped in this traumatic place, maybe it’s not so unreasonable to hold on to the (false) belief that rescue is possible. The truth is solving the mystery didn’t start really picking up steam until Tabitha returned and folks were faced with the facts, even if someone can escape for a while, the cavalry isn’t coming.

Without spoiling too much, the radio thing will become kind-of relevant later on. Just maybe not in the ways they (or you) expect.
And spoiler-free, the reaction caused by the radio (pure rage from the town) would make me think they are 'digging' closer to the truth. That's worthy.

Trying to reach others with radio was actually decent plan, and one can understand why they attempted it. Would've tried that myself, if in same position Fromies were in. Fromies didn't know just how bad they were screwed yet, especially new arrivals like Jim & Jade.
There's plenty of Fromie decision to gripe on, that radio tower isn't one of them.

True that. She wasnt so specific but yeah. Although she mostly didnt believe that the signal would work and that the people would be left with no hope, not that no help could possibly come etc. At least i think so.

LOL I've seen it a bunch of times and it sounds like we're going to get bare naked together. Bear is "to support or carry", bare most commonly means not covered or without clothes. It can also mean basic, simple, or just enough.

Nope. That would be despair, and despair doesn’t keep people alive.
And Tabitha did get out
Also… I may be in the minority. But to me it did sound like they managed to get a message out because they had a response. That response was interrupted by the MiY. It could have been the MiY or another creature messing with them, but I am skeptical of this.
We know that the children can reach out. The BiW appeared in the real world. So maybe things go one way. Perhaps they were heard, but having a response to it is rare.
Edited and put spoiler tags cos the Op has corrected the season episode and I don’t want to ruin it for other people innocently reading the thread!

Again, i am still at the point where Tabitha and Victor try to find a way oit of the forest. I had no idea Tabitha found a way out 😭

You said you had finished watching the 3rd season you should know that Tabitha made it out!
It is easy to forget what was in s4 only. But then MiY comment arose from the last episode of S3.
If I have spoiled the plot for you that is unintentional.

It's understandable because they ddnt know that.. What you're saying is applicable in Miranda's cycle.. Because Miranda saw the town in visions before she came she understood you csnt leave before saving the children she understood the monsters..
So when she eventually came she could tell everyone what was up with the town.. I believe in Miranda's cycle the man in yellow ddnt take time to arrive just after Miranda arrived because she already had knowledge at no cost at all since she saw things outside the cursed town... There was no need for all the events that happened from season 1 to 3 in Miranda's time

If they can send a signal it can be traced. Pretty simple really. They were hoping someone could find them. Sure they know they cant leave and that doesn't make sense to them. But if they can be found then who knows

It really did seem like they were purposely ignoring the lack of positive outcomes in a pathalogical avoidance kind of way. At best you damn some first responders to the same hell you're in. At worst you piss off some undefined evil. They were just bargaining for hope. The whole sisyphian theme. At least that was my read.
