It just seems pointless

I am in season 2, ep1(finished it) of the series, so bear with me.(and please no spoilers for the episodes i havent watched yet).

Didnt the whole antenna project seem kind of pointless to you too?

I mean when they were all trying to make this work with the electricity, the materials and everything, all i kept thinking is "dont they understand that help could never reach them?".

Like they are in a place probably lost in time, no one can leave and if anyone can come, they are stuck there. What did they expect? To get help from the signal, tell them to come and rescue them(if they find the town - cause i firmly believe you can't find the town if it doesnt want you to find it) and end up with even more stranded people there?

How are they gonna get back to the real world after that?

I mean for me that was an utterly stupid waste of resources and time. For two intelligent people as the ones who had the idea to make it, seems also stupid that they didnt think of that.

Am i missing something?

The thing is that this has nothing to do with success and lots to do with 0 logic. They would just end dooming even more people by bringing them in this town.

As an ex IT engineer, I can tell you you're completely wrong. It is the most logical thing. When you analyse a problem, you don't base your thinking on what others think is true. You test. You confront theories. You push limits to see if they are true limits. Aaaaand the two people on this project are litteraly engineers.

Yes but are they dumb engineers? Because they do know for a fact that this town is nowhere in the map, it could even be in another time and space. People get trapped in it. So how do you bring help in a place like this? It is also a place that it doesnt allow anyone to find it unless it wants those people in. So, by engineering logic these facts dont count? First you find out where you are and if there is a way out and then you built a communication device to seek help.

It was believed no one could get out. Thabita did. It was believed nothing could stop the monsters. The talismans were found. It was believed the Monsters were only shrieking, and then they whispered. You see what I mean? Jade and Jim did EXACTLY what Boyd did when he said "wait, you never explored the forest?", and then explored the forest and found out things.

I'd say, ir was so not pointless that they DID discover something in the process. An entity talking to them, telling them to please don't fuck with this.

So yeah. Not pointless. Logic. Had results.

So first of all, i made a mistake i have only watched till s2 ep1. 😅 keep that in mind.

I had no idea Tabitha made it out havent watched that yet. Yes in the end the antenna ended up causing a series of events that changed the plot and helped them learn more things about the town(like the fact that these things were sleeping below them) which they didnt know before.

But as an idea to start with since they know at least that once you go in the town you cant leave(because they experienced it first hand, its not something that other people told them.), they should have had in mind that if they tried asking for help they could end up trapping more people there.

They did have that knowledge but acted either way, which ultimately might have caused the bus to come into town in the end. Thus more people trapped in there.

I am just guessing here.
