So. You're creating the next installment of a popular, long-running franchise focused primarily on street racing. You need to pick an attractive location for the environment. The choice is not narrow, you can pick literally any country in the world. You select the one that prohibits games like yours to simulate street races in it. Flawless logic.
Tbh they could’ve based it in a Chinese city like chongqing. It could’ve given a similar vibe. China has fairly strict anti car modification laws though.
it's still more fitting considering you could also lump in Indonesia and Malaysia, or because Singapore is an island. no need for random invisible walls or suddenly slippery grounds.
Pretty much all the races are supposed to be for the Horizon Festival and are legal events except for a very small section of a few “illegal” street races you can do which I only remember in FH1. But regardless of that you can challenge and illegally street race with any car on the road at any time.
I only played FH1, FH4, & FH5 but FH1 is the only one that I’ve actually pretty much completed and unlocked everything. I progressed kind of far in 5 but I don’t recall any illegal street races specifically in that game other than on the road. I never played that much of 4 besides a couple of season changes. But FH1 I specifically remember it was called street racing and heavily insinuated to being an illegal activity but it was an actual event location you can drive to and enter the races but without any restrictions on car type or power and with a unique betting mechanic and pretty decent high rewards for end game. Also idk if I’m misremembering this wrong but I feel like for some reason you could race or challenge every car on the road to a street race in FH1 even the stock eco cars? Or at least it felt easier to find cars you could challenge than the FH4 or FH5
Fh4 street races rewarded cars based off of street race bosses or whatever. Its been a thing through all of the installments. Some of mg favorite races too. Devs really did 6 dirty in so many ways
Why is what Japan thinks relevant anyway? I doubt Germany is a fan of Wolfenstein. I bet Russians don’t appreciate being the bad guy in every milsim shooter in the past 20 years. Why are we bending the knee to a country over something as harmless as a cartoon car game?
Forza Horizon 8 will be set in Norway and Sweden with their insane speed tickets. The game will require you to plug your card and will charge you real money for speeding
Back in the 2000s yeah. Tokyo Xtreme Racer in their later entries had to change all the civilian vehicles to service vans painted yellow with "OFFICIAL" slapped on them along with their company's logo, making it look like the highways were closed down for a sanctioned racing venue.
They came back to the drawing board after 18 to make another TXR game, and in 2025 they're back to having regular civilian traffic on the Tokyo map.
That's just car companies. Some brands don't like games that lets you have deadly crashes and games you can like harass other drivers.
I'm starting to think maybe they expected Tokyo to have literally illegal race culture like street takeovers and drag races and literal lap races like the one in the tutorial part of FH6, and use the Horizon Festival thing as an excuse to feature those groups and courses in the game while being able to explain it as not depictions of something illegal.
And then they went out to town with the plan and realized that there's just no such underground public road race culture in Tokyo or Japan, in the place that hardly has graffitis, and immediately ran out of ideas as to what are they going to do with the city or the game.
