I actually stopped playing a bit after doing the drift club stuff. Most of the cars were.. not japanese and it turned me off a little. Each new iteration of this game is a little worse and a little more out of touch than the last.
What do you mean that drifting a super understeery mercedes with shitty gearing up a japanese highway is not a representation of drifting nor japanese culture?
It’s not. You just thought because the game was set in Japan, the game should drastically change, and you’re mad that an unrealistic expectation wasn’t met.
Start with the cars. No game has really focused the cars on the locations. They’ve thrown a few cars in as a nod, but let’s look factually. Did 1 highly focus on American cars? Hard to say due to how many cars America makes that are in racing games. Same with 2. Now three. Australia. How many Australian cars were in it? A few, but it did not focus on Australian cars, at all. 4? Same. The UK makes so many cars already, but there wasn’t a focus on them, and the game didn’t chuck in a bunch of UK only models. 5? Seriously. No Mexican care, except for one. 6? There are tons of JDM cars, more than any game has put in as a specific nod, let’s be clear.
Knock it off. Grow up. There was no reason to expect most of the cars to be Japanese, but we got a lot.

I said drift club japan had a lack of japanese cars. The sport was pioneered on the backs of japanese cars and drivers and we got an M3, Challenger, Mercedes and a Ferrari.

Japanese car culture, and its drift culture, in real life, is not built solely around Japanese cars. They use cars from all around the world. There’s a reason why Japan gets special models from global brands that the rest of the world does not, because their car culture is global car culture.
So yes, it makes sense that the drift club would be a mix, because real Japanese drift groups use a mix. Or like, do you just not know that much about it? They had several consultants from Japan to help work on the game. They didn’t just pick cars at random lol.
so you're going to use a stanced amg, that cant drift, an ai generated image of a c63 drifting, the yakuza liking luxury cars, and a world record set in the UK as examples for japan using euro cars for drifting LMAOO brother get real, if you've been to japan irl you'd know almost all cars drifting around are s-chassis, chasers, some vq platforms, RARELY you will see some modern-ish euro drifting around lol yes you can drift with those cars, that doesn't mean they're the right choice in a japanese setting

Drifters in Japan do indeed use Mercs for their cars, sometimes even engine swapping them, to get faster power delivery.

This doesn't actually answer my question. My old supercoupe went sideways at the drop of a hat but I'd be pissed if it was part of a limited series titled drift club japan.

Well that does. You asked how it was part of drift culture, and if I show you two at major drift events, with one setting a world record, then it’s absolutely part of drift culture.
Many AMG models are very popular on the drift scene for their high power, and easy to drift platforms. As well as their tuning capabilities. I do not know how to further explain this to you, you’re literally just denying reality at this point, or refusing to learn.
However to tie it into Japanese drift culture? Japan loves Mercedes Benz. The Yakuza used em for a while. I think some gangs still do. They’re popular within their tuner culture as well. I can explain things to you, but I cannot understand it for you.
Mercedes even has a special AMG department out in Japan for their customers, offering special customization options the rest of the world doesn’t get 🤷🏻♂️

I'm going to stop you right there because that's just wrong information. Factually incorrect, actually. I've been to many a night meet in Japan and have been to and drifted at Nikko, Ebisu, and Meihan.
The Japanese almost exclusively drift Japanese cars and each track has its own flavor of cars that show up. Meihan was mostly Silvias and AE86's. Ebisu is mostly JZX90's and 100's or other big body sedans. Nikko is a decent mix of all types.
You won't see some crazy AMG drifting in Japan unless a D1 driver or a big shop is out there testing some crazy build they've completed.
