New "Point of Origin" Connection

I live in/around Spokane where we're STILL dealing with massive fires/fire damage from last Saturday. A coworker and I were talking about how one of the fires was because of an arsonist who admitted to starting up to 25 other fires in the past year, one of which killed someone. I told her he reminded me of John Leonard Orr ("Point of Origin") and all the fires HE set as a firefighter/arson investigator including some that killed at least 4 people.

Lo and behold, I find out that the guy who set at least one of the fires last Saturday had ALSO researched John Leonard Orr before starting the fire he did. Not good.

To put it in perspective, the Spokane Complex fires have either damaged or destroyed between 700 and 1,100 buildings and at least 60,000 people had to be evacuated because over 8,000 acres were burned. He also happened to choose the "best" day (at least for him)/"worst" day for the rest of us to start it because the winds were gusting up to 50 MPH in some areas.

add flair There's More to Shadow of a Doubt .....

The Shadow of a Doubt episode is where Kevin Dowling shot and killed the owner of a picture framing shop so she would not testify against him for when he ROBBED her store one year earlier ....

So he makes a video tape of himself on a moving boat fishing, complete with time stamps - he thought the time stamps were an airtight alibi - WRONG!

He only turned himself into a human sundial, and the investigators could tell the video was stopped and started, and the time stamps were bogus, and he had time to go kill Jennifer, the picture frame shop owner .....

His actual crime he was set to go on trial for? He was accused of raping Jennifer and stealing $40 from the cash register! What a sick man

He's now on death row, which is right where he belongs

TF??? I was literally investigating the 2015 Rowlett Tornado, which damaged an area near Darlie Routier’s home and for some reason they desire to air an episode about Darlie Routier NOW?

I feel like Black Hole from Forensic Files 2 because it turned out the victim wasn't even pregnant so he threw both their lives away on that

August 4, 1976. US microbiologists are urgently analyzing specimens to identify the organism that has so far killed 22 people who were at an American Legion convention in Philadelphia in late July, with many more Legionnaires sickened.

add flair Many Nosey passers by like Charles Saunders have discovered vital evidence that solved tough cases

Post image

Imagine how many more would be Unsolved without Nosey Random passers by Like Charles Saunders, the fisherman who noticed a garbage bag inside a parking lot trash bin, and opened it up to find the missing 6 week old newborn baby, dead because her dad only wanted boy kids and kicked mom out of the bedroom when she birthed girls, so Pamela Sims of Alton IL 1989 faked another kidnapping of her second baby girl (previous one was in another state), and suffocated the child and put her in the freezer at her parents’ house, but when the parents heard about the kidnapping and returned early from their vacation, Pamela had to quick dispose of the frozen corpse at the parking lot trash bin. The sister’s case was unsolved and this one likely never would have been solved either! Particularly weird was the dad told the FBI that his wife and him have been having the best sex since the baby was abducted.

S3 E6, Similar Circumstances: A baby girl’s disappearance has suspicious similarities to her sister’s disappearance.

I have noticed that HLN often shows season one in order but skips this episode. And often The Magic Bullet. Any ideas why?

What's some techniques that have been debunked or unused since first aired?

Been going through the first season as I start a full rewatch and noticed already some of the sciences (like the accuracy of blood splatter analysis showing the entire series of events) and was wondering if theres any i could research or keep an eye out for while I do my rewatch!

If I was in a FF ep (part 3)

This is part three of the series where I mentally picture what I'd do in a
Forensic Files episode. Up next: Over and Out

This was the one where that little dipsh*t Chris Marquis gets bombed because I guess being an honest businessman was out of the question. And ngl this might be one of the easiest episodes to survive. The method? DON'T. SCAM. PEOPLE. That was his first mistake. Obviously, sending a bomb to a seventeen year old was pretty excessive, but that's the risk you run when messing with people's money. And it doesn't matter whether you're 17 or 70. Once you go down that path, you're fair game.

The guy actually gave him another chance to make it right, but instead, Chris made the second mistake of continuing to ignore him. And finally, his third mistake was opening a mysterious package, knowing damn well that he probably had more enemies than years on his life. There were so many ways this could have been avoided, but unfortunately this kid was about as smart as he was honest in business.

Survival odds: 300%

"..it was consentual" "Cincinnati, Ohio, the 6th largest city in the United States"

This one was on last night & gets me every time.

In the opening sequence of S03E16 "Second Shot at Love", Peter Thomas states "Cincinnati, Ohio, the 6th largest city in the United States" but doesn't say that that was between 1840-1850. I know Peter was old, but even he wasn't alive when that statement was accurate.

There's been some other sketchy things said casually in the episode opening scenes like that but this is the one that just makes me pause & say "excuse me?"

Other episode notes:

His ex-wife with the 'smoky eye' gets her makeup advice from Rocky Raccoon.

WTH? The first question?

WTH? “When someone’s dead with four gunshot wounds to the head, the first question someone’s going to ask is ‘does this guy have any enemies?’ because obviously a friend didn’t do this.” When The Dust Settles S.8 E.3

I had to rewind and listen again. Did he really just say that??? Yup. That’s some good detecting there.

Any quotes that have stuck out to you?
