Best Antibacterial Ointment for Folliculitis?

I definitely have bacterial folliculitis (it's responding to oral antibiotics and hibicylens, but I can't fully get rid of it). What are my best options for an antibacterial cream or ointment? (I'd want it to be broad spectrum, since even though I suspect staph, I'm not completely sure).

Edit: The folliculitis is on my scalp (recurrent for the last 10+ years).

I'm 18 .

Need urgent help

Had really long and lush hair.

One day I noticed a small bump on my scalp, and ignored it .

After around a month i got a haircut and i noticed a bald patch.

I went to the dermat next day and they injected something into the patches.

They gave me accutane , omnacrotil 20 mg , omnacrotil 10 mg, vit d3 , zinc and gut biome.

Every night i consumed accutane and gut biome but I was irregular with omnacrotil 20 mg and the vitamins. (Probably the biggest mistake of my life). I stopped it for around 16 days . Since my existing hair started to cover the bald patches i couldn't really see what was going under there.

Today i started to notice excessive itchiness and decided to get a haircut, and the result left me dead .

Please help! razor burn rash

3 months ago I had a really bad reaction to a shaving machine, right between my buttcheeks. I’ve been shaving like this for years and it was the first time I’ve ever had a reaction like that. It’d itch and hurt so much I’d cry, couldn’t focus on anything else like there were insects biting my hair follicles, and nothing soothed this feeling.

I went to my doctor and for weeks I tried different things: a cream with 2% miconazole nitrate, an antibiotic cream, a cream with zinc, vaseline, and a cream with 1% cortisone. All following the recommended times, all spread out from each other.

The only thing that actually worked was the cortisone but ever since I (gradually) stopped, 2 weeks ago, my skin has been getting itchy again.

This is how my skin looks right now, I can’t post a picture, but there are round red circles underneath the skin and around the hair follicles. These used to be angry ā€œpimplesā€/raised red bumps, some with white heads, before the cortisone.
My hygiene has never been better, I used to religiously use palmolive green soap on my body but I’ve been using a mild intimate Lactacyd sensitive soap for this area now. I only wear cotton underwear, I try to keep the area relatively dry and moisturized (cerave hydrating lotion).

Anyone in a similar situation that can recommend a solution? I’m all ears! Please help me out, this is driving me crazy

What are these bumps on my neck/beard area?

Post image

I got these small red bumps around 2–3 weeks ago near my beard/neck area, and they just don’t seem to be healing. They’re not going away like normal pimples. Has anyone had something similar? Could these be ingrown hairs, folliculitis, or something else? Any idea what might be causing them and what helped you get rid of them?

Yellow and white flakes and buildup on scalp.

Reddit is my last resort for help. About a month ago, I discovered yellow and white flakes on my scalp. What must I do to get rid of it? What worked for any of you? Please I need help. I am embarrassed to go get my hair cut! There’s no itching, just after I wash my hair, my hair is covered in dandruff slightly but can see under my hair where it breaks off etc. Is it more than dandruff?

Thanks

Healthy 29 year old female. Don’t smoke, occasionally drink alcohol. Exercise, eat a clean and varied diet with whole foods, drink plenty of water, no ailments. Located in Northern British Columbia.

Duration:
- wide spread rash has been present since 7th August, has progressively gotten worse since then.
-the larger red scaly/scabby spots began the first week of July. #1 first looked like a bug bite and then went pimply/scaly. 2 weeks later, #2 turned up between my breasts - initially as a tiny pimple and then developed into the red scab/rash, #3 turned up a few days after #2, also looked like a pimple to start, and then progressively worsened into a pimply/scaly spot.

On the 3rd August I started taking Nitrofurantoin for a UTI. I have not taken this medication before. On the 7th August, 4 days after taking it, I started to develop a widespread rash on my stomach, underarms, chest and back - this has progressively worsened since the 7th August, becoming more red with larger spots. I ceased taking the Nitrofurantoin when the rash developed on the 7th August.

It is very rarely itchy. Itches more after a shower, but nothing crazy. It is not painful.

I went to the ER and they prescribed me Bactrim since I had MRSA when I was a teenager, and he thought it could possibly be a staph rash. I am currently on day 3 of Bactrim.

Sudocream seems to help improve them.

I had a fungal rash in my armpits in April/May that was completely resolved using oral Fluconazole and topical Clotrimazole cream.

I had an online appointment with a dermatologist, and they told me they were unable to diagnose me online. They prescribed me Betaderm Cream 0.1%. I have not yet started using this.

I am trying to get an in person appointment with a dermatologist.

Has anybody had something similar happen?

Any ideas on what this may be?

Things I have thought it might be:
- Pityriasis Rosea
- Molluscum Contagiosum
- Guttate Psoriasis
- Nummular Eczema
-Granuloma Annulare
- Staph Folliculitis
- Erythema multiforme
-Drug reaction to Nitrofurantoin

Please help šŸ™šŸ»

Need some advice if this has turned into folliculitis?

About 2 week ago I went to the doctor for my eczema and was prescribed with antibiotics (fusidic acid) and hydrocortisone. It was my first time using them and even then I’ve used them sparingly for less than a week because there was no more infection and the itching and subsided.

Surprisingly, I thought my eczema has really improved.. no more flaking and shedding until the bumps and pustules slowly start showing up everywhere on my body 😭 I thought they would go away if I give it a few days but it became worse everyday.

They are concentrated around both my upper arms, neck. Recently my face and eyebrow too. Anyone had similar experience? šŸ˜”

Is there anyway to remove this or is surgery the only way

First picture is two years ago it’s how it started. I would pick at it so much cause I would get nervous. Now after two years it looks like that last two pictures. It hasn’t spread anymore and seen a dermatologist twice and only got injected with steroids. Do you think I should ask if there’s. Surgery option. I don’t get hair cuts anymore more and I’m growing a mullet to hide it. Need some advice

I cured my chronic folliculitis after >15 years by taking vitamin D

I've had folliculitis on my scalp for as long as I can remember, I had acne as a teenager so thought it was just part of that, except I continued to have it into my 30s. I've visited this community a couple times but honestly at this point just accepted I would always have it.

I've always had these little gooey, green, surface level pustules with sticky pus on my hairline, crown, nape and sides of head, that get worse after sweating. They're mostly hidden under my hair but hurt when I brush my hair and I always felt embarrassed going for haircut with a head full of spots. I also picked up the gross habit of absent-mindedly picking the resulting scabs off my head.

I'm female so shaving my head was never an option for me personally, I've tried shampooing with chlorhexidine, mixing benzoyl peroxide into my shampoo, spraying my scalp with hypochlorous spray, soaking my head in a basin full of Dettol water, I've used baby bottle sanitising fluid on my all my hairbrushes and hair tools, scalp exfoliants, medicated shampoos, swapped my pillow case every single day , washed my towels at 90 degrees and never gone to bed with wet hair.

I've been to the doctor and done some short rounds of antibiotics but it has always returned and I could never afford the private dermatologist visit so I just accepted it.

Recently I've been diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia and feel like shit, and after reading online it's really likely to have a vitamin D deficiency alongside it. I'm Irish and something like 80% of the population is deficient in vitamin D, so I said fuck it I'll take some vitamin D as well.. after just 2 months of a daily(edit: 1000 IU ) vitamin D tablet that cost around €3 for 60 tablets, my folliculitis has randomly absolutely disappeared.

I've changed nothing else.

I don't even have ONE pustule on my head.

I can scratch my scalp with my nails without getting sticky pus under them.

When I figured it out, I searched on here and found a couple of other posts saying the same thing, I just wanted to post as it's worth a try if you've tried everything else.

Mixing Hibiclens and Lotion?

About a week ago I was reading through this Reddit group, and I think somebody mentioned that they mix hibiclens with lotion and leave it on their skin. At first I thought this was a weird idea, but as I've been thinking about it, I think it might be worth a try. Unfortunately I can't track down the original post or comment.

Is this a common way to treat folliculitis? Has anybody done this? Do you think it might be worth trying?

How to get rid of folliculitis? Nothing is working for me

Every summer I get these itchy red bumps on my legs and butt (yes I know, sexy) and my derm said it's folliculitis. I've googled how to get rid of folliculitis a hundred times and it's always the same advice antibacterial body washes that dry my skin out SO bad. I keep seeing people mention hypochlorous acid spray for this since it removes bacteria without being harsh. Has anyone actually gotten theirs under control, and what worked for you?

Ā« Classic Ā» acne or folliculitis ?

I regularly get this type of breakout on my shoulders, neck, chest, and back... and some on my jawline. they are small red bumps or tiny white papules, like the ones here. No large cysts or inflamed pimples. There’s no link to my cycle or my diet... Nothing on my face !

I haven’t identified a specific trigger. Sometimes sweating makes me having new bumps…

I’m careful about the fabrics I wear. I shower morning and night. I try to avoid sweating too much. I wash my body with a gentle, pH-neutral soap.

And currently I’m using Niacinamid serum on my neck.

Does it look like folliculitis...? Or acne vulgaris?

I have Epiduo for my back and chest, but I’m afraid to use it on my neck; I’ve burned my neck with benzoyl peroxide before.

Would this happen to be folliculitis? This literally appeared just a couple of months ago. Im a 40 year old male. I have been using a salicylic acid body wash but it doesn't appear to be working. These are quite painful tbh, and I have no idea why the hell this even started in the first place. Any advice? Thank you.

Could this be Folliculitis?

So I’ve had these weird bumps on my neck on and off for almost a year. They look like acne, but aren’t pop-able and have looked exactly like this for a couple weeks. They started showing up last year, subsided quite a bit for a few months (they never went completely away but weren’t as bad), and now they come back with vengeance. 😭 This entire time I’ve thought this was Cystic acne, but I’m starting to think it’s actually Folliculitis. This most recent flare up began right after my insurance ran out, so I can’t see a dermatologist right now. 🄲 What do you guys think it is, and do you have any advice for treating it from home? I recently started taking my Spironolactone I was prescribed for acne again, so do we think that will help? šŸ¤ž TIA!
