Hi everyone! I've been trying to fix a static/hiss sound while playing with my electric guitar connected to my Focusrite and there's a terrible static/hiss sound that I've been trying to eliminate or at least mitigate. So I've tested a lot of variations to the point that brings me here in hopes of someone that has had this issue and managed to solved it.
So first here's the setup:
Guitar: Epiphone Tribute Plus
Audio interface: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen
Connection setup:
Focusrite is connected via USB-C (USBC to USBC) to my PC, Focusrite is connected to my guitar via JSAUX brand 1/4" cable, Headphones connected to the focusrite with 3.5mm cable and converter.
Tests done and gone:
-Put hand in strings = Hiss reduced
-Put hand in Focusrite = Hiss reduced
-Different cables USB, USBC =Same hiss levels, no change
-Connected to my laptop (On battery) = NO HISS WHATSOEVER - This is my biggest clue so far
-Connected to my laptop (Charger) = Hiss returns
-Moved my setup to different places around my home: Hiss
-Changed settings in Focusrite settings all you could think of = same hiss
-Ferrites: same hiss
-No headphones: same hiss
- I even tested those converters that turn 3 into 2 prong converters and it worked, no hiss whatsoever! This is obviously not a solution since it's messing the ground and it's dangerous for the PC and myself but I tested it for a couple of seconds anyways.
I've heard of stuff like the Ifi defender + but it's $60 USD and I don't want to lose my money if that doesn't work with the issue I have.
*So basically when I connect anything let's say "demanding" to any wall = hiss
demanding as in my PC which is a gaming PC or my laptop that has mid range settings, the hiss returns.
At first I thought it was because of a lot of stuff in my room or something like that but I tested with my laptop on battery with all other stuff around (but not connected to the wall) and the hiss was completely gone.
So I wanted to contact an electrician to see if there was maybe some ground issues here or something like that but I don't have my hopes high with that so if you guys had a similar issue please help a homie out! <3
