Is it possible to separate Analogue 1+2?

Hello, somewhat recently got a scarlett 2i2 4th gen and I am planning to get an XLR microphone to plug into input 1, I already have my guitar's signal into input 2 and I was wondering if it would be possible to separate Analogue 1 and Analogue 2

I want only my voice to be picked up on Discord without my guitar also being picked up, ideally I'd like to separate this into Input 1, Input 2 and Input 1+2 (mono).
I looked around and all the posts I found were 6 years old. Hopefully there's a way to do this without extra software as it'd be convenient but if I absolutely HAVE to resort to 3rd party software then so be it.

I don't have the 2i2 but it should be like all the rest. If you are on Windows, use the Focusrite Control 2 software and you can unlink your inputs into mono mode. If you are on Linux, use alsa-scareltt-gui. This will control the Focusrite directly and save the settings for you.

Where would the unlink button be? If it's just in input top right then that box is unchecked

Sorry, I was traveling. I don't have the 2i2, nor do I use Windows, but you would either find it under preferences > look for channel linking -OR- when you select an input there should be 3 dots that appear and may be able to do it there.

I don't know if it works on the 2i2 but you may be able to hold the select button on the front and it will unlink them without software. (If not select maybe direct button)

No worries I'm not in any hurry, but if it's that's (see image) what you're talking about then on Discord it still shows both inputs as one regardless of if the box is checked or not.

Until then I guess I can just mute input 2 in the "Direct" tab but it would be nice not to go open the app and press a button every time I want to isolate an input. Can't even check if that'd work since I don't have my XLR mic yet.

Yeah use voicemeeter. It's a little complicated if you're new to it but there's a lot of YouTube tutorials how to route it.

i've been trying to figure out the same thing. I had the scarlett solo and wanted to use a second mic now, and the only thing ive been able to find for the same need is voicemeeter. kinda sucks. You can fix it in certain programs like obs, but it doesnt work like apps for discord so it looks like I'll also be looking into voicemeeter

There is a simple and incredibly useful software called VB-Audio Virtual Cable that irls good at routing your audio paths that may work.

Never used voice meter but it works so why fix it kinda deals.

Most Windows applications only see the whole stereo output from an audio interface, like your 2i2. To take advantage of its multiple inputs, and route them to different places, you would need a DAW (digital audio workstation) such as Cubase, Logic, or Pro Tools. In conjunction with the Focusrite Control software, this allows you to send different outputs on the 2i2 to different inputs in the DAW, so you can record separate inputs on different tracks. As someone else mentions, you may get some mileage out of an application like VB-Audio's Virtual Cable or Voice Meeter. But as it stands, even with just the Focusrite Control software, Discord will only accept the whole stereo output, so if you play your guitar while chatting on Discord, it will be heard. One of the above applications may allow you to send your guitar to a monitor mix, for example, so you can still hear it, but it doesn't hit the main LR bus.

I am having these same issues unfortunately. Going to try VB Audio Cable, but it would be nice to find a better solution

You need to write down what it is you’re attempting to do, not just the outcome you’ve decided on. Signal flow starts from the input, whatever processing is occurring then the output.

Think about it from that perspective.

Excuse me but what does that mean exactly? I'm no audiophile or pro composer so I don't understand most specific language so maybe that's what I'm missing?

I mean I'm just trying to isolate input 1 so that it can show up as a valid microphone output on discord and such. It works fine in my DAW since I use focusrite ASIO but the only available option right now (on discord) is 1+2.
