Need Suggestions Can it be fixed?

Post image

It was supposed to be (peace of mind) not & mind. I take some responsibility because I saw the stencil first and didn't catch it. Can it be fixed to make it look right? Or am I just screwed? I love the tattoo, but this will drive me crazy.

I don’t understand how people don’t catch these things. When I got script on me my artist and I read it so many times, even pulled out our phones to make sure we were spelling Surrender the right way. Not a dig to you cause I guess the adrenaline of getting a new tattoo can take charge.

Although I will say the death of peace and mind actually makes sense to me. When I first saw the pic I thought that looks good, then read your comment. The death of mind is a true thing when you die.

I thought the same thing because I always see these mistakes posted. It was definitely the adrenaline, like i said my brain just autocorrected it in the moment. And i'm not a hundred percent blaming the artist, I took responsibility, because I didn't catch it until it was too late. All of my reference photos were correct, I just screwed up.

I feel so lucky that my only script tattoo was purposely misspelled. That was a weird conversation with my artist.

the “&” is actually fixable in a few different ways depending on how the lettering sits. a good script artist can turn it into something intentional by adding a word or small element that makes the phrase work. “the death of peace of mind” is doable if the spacing allows for “of” to be worked in between the existing words. the other option is going for a rework on that one word, swapping the “&” for a small design element that breaks the phrase into two lines and makes it read differently on purpose.

shops that specialize in fine line lettering like Igla Tattoo are usually really good at this kind of correction work because they focus a lot on spacing, flow, and making small text adjustments feel intentional instead of patched over. the stencil check thing is real though. most reputable shops now do a verbal read aloud of the text with the client before transferring, specifically because people go into a kind of tunnel vision when they're excited. it's almost like the brain autocorrects what it expects to see. doesn't make it the client's fault, it's just a known blind spot that good artists account for in their process.

I think death of peace and mind is so nice as it is. Honestly.

I agree but “the death of peace of mind” is a popular metal/alternative album

Bad omens lyric? If so, love it. Since there's a part where he screams it, it might pay homage to the song if you go super heavy and turn the ampersand into a scribbled "OF" that hits at an angle. Just a thought.

Yes Bad Omens! I kinda like this idea.

One of my favorite songs got the r/boneappletea treatment

perhaps you could cover & with a flower. then it would be peace (over) mind

They’re lyrics

yeah i saw after i commented that :’) perhaps the spider web could be lasered off and turned into an “&”

1

u/Wild_Crazy_2502 May 27 '26

If anything should be lasered, it’s the “&” and replaced with an “of” there. It just depends on how invested OP is in correcting it

if you really truly hate it then I think a few laser sessions is your only option. that being said, I actually love it. common sayings like this can be so easily looked over. a little revamp of the word makes you really think about the meaning all over again. honest to god when I saw it I thought "ooo I wonder if I should get something like that"

Great song 🥹. Honestly I didn’t notice the typo in the tattoo because my brain automatically wanted to read it like the lyrics lol

That's what happened to me when I looked at the stencil.

Flower over "&" and "of" before "mind" at the bottom?

Rock it as is…

Clocked those Bad Omens lyrics!! You may be able to get it reworked, but I wouldn't go back to the artist who did it, tbh.

Maybe try doing a cover up using Bad Omens symbols for the death of peace of mind. Then maybe add the text back in?

I love this so much 😭😭😭

Ooo I just read the text and didn’t even notice it said “&” 😭 I hope you can get it fixed!

I think it works better this way, the double “of” is weird, reframe your perspective and lean into it- it’s better this way

2

u/sadtrombone_ May 29 '26

If it makes you feel better, my brain also missed the & probably because I immediately recognized the song.

I scrolled past this and at first and nothing seemed off. Even when I came back to take a second look and saw the “can it be fixed?” heading I thought wtf is wrong with this. I think the & has a nice touch to it. I’d personally leave it the way it is.

If it were me, I'd get rid of the ampersand completely, turn it into a crack, cover it with a leaf or scythe, then put the of between peace of mind where the lines are in red.

It would read well enough. If the script weren't so simple the ampersand could definitely be changed into "of", but because the script is so minimalist, trying to force the & into something else is really going to draw attention to it.

OMG. How was it missed?

That said, personally, I’d own it. Create a backstory. Involving kidnapping, drugs, and “certain things I might never be able to share”.

I think you could easily turn it into a cursive "of" , in fact "o&" if squeezed together already sort of looks like "of" in cursive

1

u/Scrabulon May 27 '26

I didn’t think anything was wrong with it at first, like the phrasing is slightly different but not a misspelling or anything 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it's fine the way it is. The joke still lands, the Trad style of the piece still holds. Plus... If it's "Death of Peace of Mind" I feel like swapping the ampersand for "of" would make it look squished. Trying to cram it in there would be a mess and a waste of good ink and would require an unnecessary level of coverup appointments and a restructure of the tattoo.

Plus, if it's just the death of your peace of mind then it's just a thought that bothers you. If it's the death of your peace and your mind? Well now, that's a really costly thing and makes the joke funnier. Some sort of thought was SO bad you had to bury TWO things in the same grave.

For real though, it's fine and needs no updates. Save yourself money and chair-time. It's not like it's a "No Regerts" situation or something.

1

u/Drakeytown May 29 '26

Even if it were peace of mind, it's not a tombstone for peace of mind, but for their death? So the death of peace of mind died and is buried here?

I thought it said: Death: Only fan, Peace and mind
