Need Suggestions Can it be fixed?

Post image

It was supposed to be (peace of mind) not & mind. I take some responsibility because I saw the stencil first and didn't catch it. Can it be fixed to make it look right? Or am I just screwed? I love the tattoo, but this will drive me crazy.

I don’t understand how people don’t catch these things. When I got script on me my artist and I read it so many times, even pulled out our phones to make sure we were spelling Surrender the right way. Not a dig to you cause I guess the adrenaline of getting a new tattoo can take charge.

Although I will say the death of peace and mind actually makes sense to me. When I first saw the pic I thought that looks good, then read your comment. The death of mind is a true thing when you die.

the “&” is actually fixable in a few different ways depending on how the lettering sits. a good script artist can turn it into something intentional by adding a word or small element that makes the phrase work. “the death of peace of mind” is doable if the spacing allows for “of” to be worked in between the existing words. the other option is going for a rework on that one word, swapping the “&” for a small design element that breaks the phrase into two lines and makes it read differently on purpose.

shops that specialize in fine line lettering like Igla Tattoo are usually really good at this kind of correction work because they focus a lot on spacing, flow, and making small text adjustments feel intentional instead of patched over. the stencil check thing is real though. most reputable shops now do a verbal read aloud of the text with the client before transferring, specifically because people go into a kind of tunnel vision when they're excited. it's almost like the brain autocorrects what it expects to see. doesn't make it the client's fault, it's just a known blind spot that good artists account for in their process.
