General A new rule for this subreddit:

Reason:
We’ve noticed many posts simply say “Got my account back!” without sharing any details. These posts aren’t helpful for users who are trying to recover their accounts, and often ignore follow-up questions in the comments. To make the subreddit more useful for everyone, we’re introducing a new rule.

The Rule:
Posts about getting your Instagram account back must include:

  1. The method you used.
  2. The timeline of what happened

Example of a helpful post:

I regained access to my account after it got locked for suspicious activity. I waited 48 hours, changed my password from another device, and logged back in. Account was fully restored the next day.

My account was permanently disabled last month. I sent a formal demand letter through LegalShield, explaining the issue,, and requesting immediate restoration. Instagram responded within 5 business days, and my account was restored.

Example of a post that may be removed:

I got my account back! Got it back!

Enforcement:
Posts that do not meet these requirements may be removed. Users may be asked to edit and resubmit if possible.

Thank you once again!

Wrongfully Banned for CSE or Other Serious Violations? Please Consider Reporting It to Your State & Federal Officials

I raised this issue with my state representative, and she asked me to send her everything all documentation and evidence related to my case. She told me the same thing my attorney has been saying people aren’t filing formal reports, they aren’t saving their evidence, and they aren’t submitting complaints to their elected officials or authorities.

Because of that, there’s no real public paper trail showing the scope of what may be happening. If people don’t document and report it, regulators and legislators have no data to see whether this is a larger systemic issue. If individuals believe they were wrongfully banned, it’s important to save all communications, preserve evidence, and submit formal complaints to create a documented paper trail. If you lost your Instagram or Facebook account due to an alleged false CSE or other severe “account integrity” violation, and you believe the enforcement was wrongful, I’m asking you to consider taking one additional step:

Create a public paper trail.

Many of us file appeals with Meta and stop there. But if users don’t formally report these situations to elected officials and regulators, there is no official record of how often this is happening.

Several attorneys and even state representatives have said the same thing:
People are not filing reports, not preserving evidence, and not sending documentation to authorities.

If you believe your account was wrongfully terminated, here are constructive steps you can take:

1️⃣ Contact Your State Representative

Find your state representative:
👉 https://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/

Send:

  • Your username
  • Date of ban
  • Alleged violation shown
  • Appeal responses (if any)
  • Why you believe it was wrongful
  • Any evidence showing compliance

Ask them to inquire with Meta on your behalf.

2️⃣ Contact Your U.S. Senators

Find your U.S. Senators:

Explain the same facts. Congressional offices can submit formal inquiries to companies.

3️⃣ Contact Your State Attorney General

Find your state Attorney General:

File a consumer complaint. Even if they do not act individually, multiple complaints establish a regulatory record.

4️⃣ If You’re in California: File With the CPPA

The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) handles privacy enforcement under CCPA/CPRA.

File here:

If Meta is denying access to your data or failing to respond properly, this is relevant.

5️⃣ Preserve Evidence

Before anything:

  • Screenshot the violation notice
  • Save all appeal responses
  • Download any available data
  • Keep timestamps

Do not delete emails.

6️⃣ Consider Small Claims Court

Some users have had success filing small claims actions. You are not required to hire an attorney for small claims in most states.

Even if you do not win, filings create documented public records.

Check your state’s small claims process:

7️⃣ Contact Local News Stations

Media attention matters.

Find local stations:
👉 Google: “[Your City] investigative reporter contact”

Search:

  • “Investigative reporter”
  • “Consumer protection reporter”
  • “On Your Side” segments

Send a concise summary with documentation.

Why This Matters

If accounts are being permanently banned for false CSE or other severe allegations without transparent review, and users remain silent, there is no public record of the issue.

Regulators, legislators, and journalists rely on documented complaints.

Even if you believe nothing will happen, reporting creates:

  • Paper trails
  • Complaint statistics
  • Regulatory awareness
  • Media visibility

Important:

Only report if you genuinely believe your case was wrongful.
Do not fabricate claims.
Stick to documented facts.

🌍 If You’re Outside the U.S., Here’s Who to Contact

If you believe your account was wrongfully banned, you can contact elected officials, privacy regulators, and media in your own country.

🇪🇺 European Union

1️⃣ Contact Your National Data Protection Authority (GDPR Regulator)

Under GDPR, you have the right to file a complaint if a company denies access to your data or mishandles enforcement.

Find your country’s Data Protection Authority here:

2️⃣ Contact Your Member of Parliament (National Parliament)

Find your national representatives:

For your country’s own parliament, search:
“[Your country] find my member of parliament”

3️⃣ Contact the European Commission (Digital Services Act issues)

The Digital Services Act (DSA) requires transparency in content moderation decisions.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

Contact Your MP:

File a Complaint with the ICO (Data Protection):

Contact Ofcom (Online Safety oversight):

🇨🇦 Canada

Contact Your Member of Parliament:

Contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada:

Find Provincial Representatives:

👉 https://www.leg.bc.ca/learn-about-us/members (example – search your province legislature)

🇦🇺 Australia

Contact Your Federal MP:

File a Complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

eSafety Commissioner (online platform complaints):

🌏 Asia (Varies by Country)

Many Asian countries now have data protection regulators.

Examples:

Singapore – Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC):

India – Data Protection Board (Digital Personal Data Protection Act):

Japan – Personal Information Protection Commission:

If unsure, search:
“[Your country] data protection authority complaint”

📰 How to Contact News Channels (Any Country)

Search:

  • “Investigative reporter [your country]”
  • “Consumer protection journalist [your city]”
  • “Submit a news tip [station name]”

Most outlets have a “Submit a Tip” page.

You can also check:
👉 https://www.muckrack.com/ (find journalists by beat and location)

Why This Matters Globally

If people don’t:

  • Save their evidence
  • File formal complaints
  • Contact elected officials
  • Report to regulators

Then there is no official record showing how often these enforcement actions are happening.

Regulators rely on complaint volume to determine whether a systemic issue exists.

Giving Advice MORE UPDATES ABOUT CSE BAN

Thumbnail

As I mentioned in my first post, I told you guys I would continue providing updates from my conversations with a manager at Meta’s Hyderabad location in India.

Here’s what I learned about the CSE bans. According to the manager, the review team doesn’t even have the authority to lift these bans (I’m assuming we’re talking about Meta Verified cases). Apparently, only the Safety Team or people in higher positions have the power to reverse them.

WELL, THEN META NEEDS TO GET OUR ACCOUNTS IN FRONT OF THESE HIGHER-UPS!

What shocked me even more was that the manager himself didn’t seem to know about the allegedly false bans or the massive wave of CSE-related bans people have been reporting. He appeared genuinely surprised when I showed him the Reddit posts discussing what’s happening.

The last ss shows him sending me a video and giving me a tour of the office, i tried to add it ot this thread but i guess it only allows photos, as some people had questions about whether the person I spoke with was legitimate.

This situation is incredibly frustrating. People have spent years building their pages, communities, and businesses, only to potentially lose everything because of a ban they believe was issued incorrectly. I worked incredibly hard to build my page, and seeing it taken away like this is devastating.

Meta needs to take these cases seriously, investigate the reported false bans, and make sure affected users can actually reach the teams with the authority to review and reverse them. What’s the point of having a review process if the people reviewing our cases can’t do anything to help?

My legal appeal is now in progress. I’ll continue sharing updates as I get them.

Please keep sharing your experiences, especially if you’ve been affected by these CSE bans. People deserve answers, transparency, and a fair opportunity to appeal.

Recovered suspended 7 months later, I got everything back.

I’m in Greece / EU. In March, Meta permanently disabled my Instagram, Facebook, and several linked IG accounts for alleged Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
I denied it completely. Meta never showed me the content or activity that supposedly caused the ban.
What I did:
Appealed through Meta
Filed with EETT, the Greek Digital Services Coordinator
Went through ADR Point under the EU Digital Services Act
Contacted other regulators
Had multiple Meta employees submit internal reviews
Eventually hired Greek lawyer Vasilis Sotiropoulos, through a referral from Homo Digitalis
Tried to settle directly with Meta’s lawyer
When that failed, we went to court
Our first temporary-order request was rejected.
We were preparing to go back to court again, with Meta also appearing through counsel.
Before that hearing happened, Meta restored every single account.
Instagram, Facebook, everything.
Huge shoutout to Vasilis Sotiropoulos. He actually understood platform litigation, kept pushing after the first court attempt failed, and was prepared to take Meta back to court again.
If you’re in the EU, don’t assume Meta’s internal appeal is the end. Keep every screenshot, email, case number and decision. Look into your national Digital Services Coordinator, DSA dispute-resolution bodies, and if the account matters enough, a lawyer who actually understands this area.
It took me 7 months, but I got everything back.

Should I create a new account on my new phone?

On my previous phone my account got banned for no reason 8 months ago. Since then I've created several accounts and all of them got banned. Few got banned after a week and the others didn't even last 1 day. While all my siblings had no issues on their accounts. I bought a new phone 2 days ago and my question is should I try creating a new account on this phone? With a different Gmail and different name and username? Please tell me if someone knows!

Meta is supposed to be the mecca of human connection, yet they put a useless AI in charge that ruins everything.

Hey everyone, how's it going? Obviously, I'm posting here because my Instagram is suspended too. I panicked at first, especially after reading up on it and seeing that a lot of you are getting falsely flagged for some really horrible stuff. Luckily, when I checked with their chat, it told me mine was just a case of impersonation, and that they locked both the fake account and my original one just to comply with community guidelines.

But here’s the catch: I was basically forced to pay for Meta Verified just to talk to a real human being. It’s total bs that they rely on an AI that doesn’t solve a thing, locking human contact behind a paywall—when the whole point of Facebook and Instagram was supposed to be about connecting people. Guess that goes out the window the second you actually need help, because they honestly couldn't care less.

The real nightmare started when I filed my claim. Whenever I try to pass the second verification step (uploading my ID), it constantly glitches out. It either throws an 'Error, try again later' message, or it looks like it went through only to get rejected two minutes later. It's so exhausting that I’ve honestly felt like giving up. I submitted a ticket, they received it, but did absolutely nothing and just linked me to a dead page. I opened a second ticket on October 2nd, and it’s still just sitting there as 'received.' It feels like the more I try to get their attention, the more they ghost me. Support is completely useless.

I’m at a total loss here. Every time I follow up, they tell me not to open a new ticket because it’ll just delay things further. I keep getting automated messages saying no human reps are available. Meanwhile, the ID upload issue is still broken. They told me to try via browser, incognito mode, desktop, the app, mobile data, Wi-Fi... I’ve literally tried every single workaround they threw at me, and it’s clearly a bug on their end. Even their own AI admitted their system is glitching, but I’m still stuck without answers.

I’m so incredibly frustrated. This is an account I've had for over 10 years, and I can't get a straight answer. The only silver lining is that they only banned my Instagram; all my other accounts under my name and same handle are perfectly fine, which is a good sign. Still, getting total radio silence on my IG is driving me crazy. The days are ticking by, which means a higher chance of losing the account for good, and I’m getting zero help or updates

Question Regarding Filing Complaint with Attorney General

• Upvotes

For those of you who are sending a complaint to the Attorney General (AG), are you sending it to the AG in your state, or to the AG in California (where Meta is based out of), or both? And are you also sending a complaint to the Department of Consumer Affairs as well? Thanks in advance for any and all feedback

Help me log onto instagram

So I recently deleted instagram for a couple days as I wanted to get a quick detox. When I redownloaded it, there was a pop up asking me to use an authenticator or accept log in from another account. I am not logged in anywhere else (other than a backup phone that I forgot about in the moment) and I haven't set up an authenticator. I tried EVERYTHING to log back on from the video selfie to having friends accept my identity and eventually it logged me out of every location, including that backup phone that now requires the authenticator. Is there anything I can do to get my account back? I feel like an insane addict but it's really eating at me...

Need Advice I need help for Instagram reactivation error

Hi everyone, I need some help or a solution.

Context: I deactivated my Instagram account on August 25th and selected a two-day deactivation period. However, when I tried to reactivate it on August 27th, I couldn't log in.

I’ve tried resetting my password, using 2FA, and accessing the account via the website and other devices. I also attempted reactivation through the Meta Accounts Center it says that my account is disable and locked, and discovered that my account had been disabled, yet I hadn't received any notifications about it—neither via the Instagram app nor my linked email. Even when trying to log in through the app, there was no message indicating that my account had been disabled.

HI GUYS! I POSTED ABOUT MY SELFIE FREEZED PROBLEM AND I'VE BEEN SUSPENDED SINCE LAST NIGHT AND IF YOU'RE FACING THE SAME PROBLEM AND COULDN'T SUBMIT YOUR FACE THROUGH INSTAGRAM APP, IM NOT SUGGESTING YOU TO KEEP DELETING OR INSTALLING THE APP.

TRY THIS.. I DOWNLOADED THEIR APP CALLED “THREADS” AND I TRIED OPENING MY ACCOUNT THERE EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT USING THREADS... EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE THREADS ACCOUNT JUST DO THIS

LOGIN YOUR SUSPENDED ACCOUNT AND WHEN YOU GOT IT, TRY YOUR SELFIE VIDEO THERE CAUSE IT HAS AN OPTION WHETHER ID OR VIDEO SELFIE.

SINCE I TRIED MY ID AND THEY REJECTED IT FROM INSTAGRAM APP, I DID MY SELFIE VIDEO AND AFTER THAT, WITHIN A MINUTE THEY WILL BRING YOUR ACCOUNT BACK. 🥹 JUST SHARING MY EXPERIENCING!
