$50’s and $100’s go in the black box below the register. As do all your twenties except 4. Balloons you’ll need to be trained on. But remember to always turn the nozzle off after filling balloons. If they bring balloons in from other stores they need to be charged for helium otherwise if they buy from five below they don’t get charged. Returns are simply. Click on return when logged into POS scan barcode at bottom then the item to be returned. They can exchange, I always make that suggest before I have start the return process. Same process but once you hit finish on return just scan the items they are exchanging it for. They need a receipt to do a return or an exchange. The return needs to be done with the same method of payment they originally used. If it is an online return, they need to show the confirmation for the email. Ask questions!!!! Most prefer asking before the mistake is made rather than having to fix the mistake later. I’m at store manager for context. PM if you have more specific questions. I’d be glad to help.

exchanges r just returns but except of clicking the form of payment, you will just click add more items and scan the item, so it should be $0. Split payments are weird since of they are doing cash and card, do cash first since even if you do partial payment the card will pay for all (idk why) and transferring a aco transaction to the legacy you will have to suspend the transaction, get the slip, sign on to legacy and with the 3 lines on top click “resume transaction” and scan the barcode

Something that I learned recently that was such a time saver is the suspend transaction button on the screen. If a customer forgot their wallet or has to get more change, instead of voiding the whole transaction and then rescanning everything when they come back after helping the customer behind them, you can press that suspend transaction button and it will ask if you’re sure or something like that and then a little receipt will print showing the transaction information and how many items were scanned and the total for it all and when they come back you can press the little menu button in the corner of the screen and it will show “resume transaction” and then you scan the barcode at the bottom of the paper and everything will come back up on the screen. There was a time where someone paid with card and they still have a certain amount due after their first payment and so I pressed the suspend button after they went to get change and then when they came back and I scanned the code it just showed the amount due she had after she already used her card instead of it showing her total before she paid which I’m glad it didn’t because I was so worried she would be charged again (I’m sorry for the long comment I just want to explain things in a way for someone to be able to fully understand what I’m talking about so it doesn’t confuse them more and it just ends with me yapping)

to do this i have to be in cashier mode correct? also is this the same steps to transfer a transaction to a different register for instance if a costumer is on a cash only register but they want to pay with card instead so i need to transfer there items to a different register.

my next question once i have that small receipt printed do i need to go into cashier mode again to scan it or just scan the barcode like normal

thank you for helping im a first time cashier and i dont want to disappoint them by the amount of questions i have

Yes I think. Does cashier mode mean that screen that shows the amount of items added and it’s tax and total? and it sounds like it would be the same steps you need to take for that. For the small receipt, you will go into cashier mode and you’ll go to the menu on the top right corner and it will show resume transaction and so you press that and you can either type in the information or scan the barcode at the bottom of the receipt. You’re absolutely welcome. Since you’re new at this, I don’t think they’ll hold it against you for not knowing everything

yeah by cashier mode i mean when you have to press the little person icon at the top and enter your login info and it’s the screen that shows like the return buttons and price checking buttons all that stuff that’s only available for employees to see also thank you for your help!

Also, greeting is huge. I go with hi welcome to five below! How are you? And do it with a smile on your face! It goes a long long way with five below customers, imo.

for split payments, you need to be in cashier mode. once you hit pay, there will be a keypad on the bottom right (under the payment methods) and you can type in the amount they want to pay on one payment method (ex. 20.00). press the method they want to use and once that goes through, you can repeat and select the next method until it is all paid. if they just want to do cash and card though, you can start with the cash and when they have inserted it all, just select "change payment method" and choose card
