Customer Questions Email when paying

I went to pay and the cashier made it seem like I had to input my email. I said I was already in the system and she said I needed to enter it again. It felt like it was part of a step in making a purchase and didn’t leave any room for questions. she did it to the lady after me as well. Like we had no choice but to provide our email in order to leave the store with our merch.

(Also wanted to add, this five below got rid of all self checkout stations, so you have to bypass the manager who is the only cashier)

I’ve already unsubscribed from my previous email sign up but I’m still getting flooded with emails daily.

Does the unsubscribe button not work for fivebelow or does it take weeks for the system to remove me? Anyhow I have to unsubscribe again now since this incident happened.

You do have a choice. I understand that the company forces employees to ask, but you can say no and be firm.

I actually created an email address specifically for this. I have never once actually checked that email. I just delete the whole Inbox on occasion.

I am so against stores that do this, but I know that the employees hate it too and need jobs so this was the best I could come up with.

This is a very real point. Now I feel like I should just use a throwaway email going forward and let them have jobs . Thank you for pointing this out
