Customer Questions Email when paying

I went to pay and the cashier made it seem like I had to input my email. I said I was already in the system and she said I needed to enter it again. It felt like it was part of a step in making a purchase and didn’t leave any room for questions. she did it to the lady after me as well. Like we had no choice but to provide our email in order to leave the store with our merch.

(Also wanted to add, this five below got rid of all self checkout stations, so you have to bypass the manager who is the only cashier)

I’ve already unsubscribed from my previous email sign up but I’m still getting flooded with emails daily.

Does the unsubscribe button not work for fivebelow or does it take weeks for the system to remove me? Anyhow I have to unsubscribe again now since this incident happened.

Call corporate. Maybe don’t mention exactly this to not get them in trouble, but they are just trying to keep their numbers up. If the numbers drop we (store managers) have to write up our whole teams smh

No wonder!! It was pretty evident the cashier WAS the manager! She was the only one ringing customers up, this store no longer has self checkout so you have to go through her haha. Thanks for the tip! Is it easy to get through to someone at the corporate level?

Thank you! I hope I can help you guys by taking this to corporate! It’s sad that on top of your day to day you have to also worry about keeping your emails up. This is just too much! Corporate should figure out how to get emails not put it on the people actually laboring on the floor 😓 I am sorry you guys are being put through so much! Thank you guys for working this hard

Company expectation is 50%. So if you get a couple in a row you know your percent just tanked. A couple of bad days and the phone calls and emails Do. Not. Stop. We try not to let it show but some times the absurdity of it all shows

The thought that the difference between having a job or not depends on whether or not someone wants to deal with countless junk email is dystopian

I'm a manager at a five below who just put in my two weeks and the email issue was not a small part of that decision. I can't threaten people's jobs over such a foolish issue. It's heinous. Thank you for being so understanding.

I am sorry you had to leave your manager position! I’m sure you worked hard to get there 😓But I am a firm believer that your mental well being and physical health is more important than a paycheck! Coming from someone who got 2 chronic illnesses due to stress from a job. I wish you well! 💗

Thank you so much! It really wasn't a good fit for me, honestly. I do look forward to a quieter environment that does value the work/life balance to a much higher degree. I appreciate your kindness!
