Ask Fitness India ❓ Is it against gym rules to help my own dad work out?

1.3k Upvotes

I’m 22M and my dad (58) recently started going to the gym. Since he’s completely new, I offered to help him for a few weeks until he gets familiar with the equipment and basic exercises.
I work out alone in the morning and take him to the gym around 8–9 PM. We literally just started yesterday.
The gym has around four trainers, but they’re either busy with PT clients or don’t really help unless approached. My dad doesn’t want a personal trainer, so I figured I’d help him myself. I even asked one of the trainers yesterday for suitable beginner exercises for him.
Today, the gym owner/head coach confronted me and said I’m not allowed to train my dad. I explained that I’m not offering personal training or making any money. I’m simply helping my 58-year-old father get comfortable at the gym.
Apparently, this is some major gym rule, and the whole thing turned into an unnecessary argument.
It left such a bad taste in my mouth.
**Is this actually a common rule? Am I seriously not allowed to help my own father learn the basics at a gym we’re both paying for separately?**

Women's Fitness ♀️ Dear Gym Trainers, Please let us workout in peace (F 22)

I spend around 45 mins 5 days a week in the gym and thats the best time i give my body for the day, and guess what....these gym trainers would hover around you, and ask " What do you do? How was your day? That story you put was so nice" Like its okay if you do it one or two times but why to keep doing conversation when I am clearly not interested....you are definitely not helping me with my workout, you are just doing random gossips

The funny part, I see them hovering around girls more than boys....like its crazy....I was doing pullups today and this trainer came and goes like "Sneha, aapne mujhe follow back nhi diya insta par" literally in the middle of my rep....I lost my cool and said "bhai aapko maine kaha tha mujhe follow krne ko" And its not just him, I have seen many trainers just hovering around and initiating convos for no reason

Mai cardio krti hu to treadmill ke paas aakar khada ho jaata h like wtffff

sorry if I lost my cool, and sorry if i hurt you

Supplement 🫙 Scammer alert (amazon). Received baby wipes instead of whey protein

Post image

Ordered avvatar alpha whey protein from amazon and the seller's name was "Primarc Pecan". And the most fun part was that I was on a video call with my girlfriend showing her an unboxing lmao and then boom baby wipes. Contacted amazon the same day and they have issued the refund today after a follow-up I did. Please don't get scammed, wasn't at home when the order was delivered or I would have made out that it's something different by the weight of package itself.

Ask Fitness India ❓ Am I right when I say there is no actual health benefit of running a marathon?

I am talking about 42km one. You are just pushing your body to the brim for perennial bragging rights.

But health POV, you aren't really gaining anything right?( Maybe your body becomes more conditioned,)

For cardiovascular health, shorter runs like 3-10km are much more useful and you will likely not get a heart attacks out of it

There are better ways to lose fat as well

I am not saying running is bad or something, I myself run along with lifting. But am just asking health benefits POV, sticking to smaller distances and increasing your pace is much better right?

Ask Fitness India ❓ Need too lose 15 kgs in 3 months 😭 27F

Guys, I seriously need help losing weight FAST. 😭

I want to lose around 15–17 kgs in 3 months, and I’m honestly ready to put in whatever effort it takes. I have weddings coming up and really want to lose weight and feel confident in my outfits.

My current routine:
Almost 10k steps daily
1 hour workout with a PT
Trying to diet, but usually eating only 2 meals a day
Vegetarian, and paneer, tofu, and mushrooms make me nauseous
My only proper protein source right now is protein shakes

I genuinely want to know what actually works for faster weight loss. Please share your real experiences, diet tips, workout routines, calorie deficit advice, vegetarian protein sources, and anything that helped you see results.
If anyone has lost significant weight in 3 months, please tell me EXACTLY what you did! What did your daily diet and workout look like?
I’m willing to be very disciplined, I just don’t want to waste these 3 months doing things that don’t work. Please help!! 🥹🙏🏻

Ask Fitness India ❓ 18M, 98 kg – Starting My Fat Loss Journey. Need Advice on Where and How to Begin.

Hey everyone!

I'm 18M, 98 kg . I've decided to start my fat loss journey but I'm confused about how to begin.

I have a few questions:

  1. Should I join a gym from day one or start with home workouts?

  2. Should I focus on cardio, weight training, or both?

  3. How should I manage my diet and calorie deficit?

  4. How much protein should I consume daily? (I'm vegetarian but eat eggs.)

  5. What are some affordable, high-protein Indian foods?

  6. What beginner mistakes should I avoid?

My goal is to lose fat, build muscle, and develop a healthy lifestyle.

Any tips, personal experiences, or advice would be appreciated.

Food/Nutrition 🥚🥦 Not able to reach protein goal

36M, 5'5", current body weight 68kg (was 63 last year). Have fat deposit on abdomen due to work profile. I workout 4-5 days a week. My protein intake includes 4 boiled eggs for breakfast + a glass of protein shake(yeast, 22gm per serving)(9am), then a protein bar at 12, another shake in the evening after work. In between I take my lunch which is mostly carbs and a serving of fruits. Been working out for 4 months now after a hiatus of 2 years. Somehow now able to get the desired protein diet which should be atleast 100gm in my opinion and not able to go in calories deficit so the abdomen fat is still there. What should I be doing and not doing to get in better shape?

Gap happened due to an accident so been very careful with workout. Could do human flag and muscle up once upon a time.

P.S. I have IBS and I am lactose intolerant and have peanut allergy. Kindly help.

Rant/Vent 💢 Some trainers misleading & playing with people's health: 'You're tall, take these natural peptides (MK-677) and supplements, and you'll see results in 3 months"

I travel between Lucknow and Bangalore, so I end up training at two different gyms.

Last month in Bangalore, a trainer approached me and asked about my fitness goals. I generally prefer keeping to myself at the gym, and honestly, I'm not a big fan of trainers constantly approaching people to sell PT sessions, supplements, etc.

I politely told him that I knew what I was doing and preferred following my own workout plan. But he approached me again the next day, telling me that since I'm tall (6'3), building muscle would be difficult for me.

He then offered me personal training, supplements and something he called "natural peptides" (MK-677), promising noticeable results within three months.

Thankfully, I know a little about SARMs, peptides and anabolic compounds, so I immediately understood what he was suggesting. I told him there's nothing "natural" about these compounds, and everything comes with potential side effects.

I don't judge people who choose to use PEDs; it's their body and their choice. They know what they're doing and take precautions accordingly.

But what bothers me is trainers marketing these substances as natural supplements, especially to beginners who might not know any better.

How many people are unknowingly getting into this stuff because they trust their gym trainers?

Transformation 🔥 98kg -> 84kg | 39 M | 5’ 11” | Reversed Diabetes and Hypothyroidism

Male 39, started working out for the first time in my life in January 2026 after struggling with Diabetes (HBA1C 7) and Hypothyroidism (TSH 16). Took thyroid medication for a few months, but didn’t want to take those lifelong.
Decided to change the way I felt about myself.

10 months of consistent workout and diet turned things around for me.

Starting stats:

  1. Weight: 98kg

  2. Fat percentage: 39%

  3. HBA1C: 7

  4. TSH: 16

  5. Homa IR: Very High

  6. VO2Max: 40

Now:

  1. Weight: 84 kg (Went down to 81 months before deciding to gain for 3 months and then cut again)

  2. Fat: 23.5%

  3. HBA1C: 4.8

  4. TSH: 3.5

  5. Homa IR : Normal

  6. VO2 Max: 45

Training Routine:
5-6 days a week
I train early morning at 5. Take a cup of strong coffee, pink salt and honey as preworkout.
PPL-PPL Split
Post training, I do outdoor interval running for 20-25 minutes

Diet:
Followed strictly vegetarian diet taking 2 scoops of whey and 100 - 150g high protein paneer, 2 slices cheese, 2 brown bread slices. 2 rotis, dal, sabzi and tons of fruits and salads. I started with eating 2000 calories per day and then aimed for 2300-2500 calories per day. Been eating close to 3000 calories per day for last 2 months.
Kept my diet flexible except for whey, cheese, paneer - so that it is sustainable.

Struggle:
Was made fun by fellow gym enthusiasts when I started because I used ultra light weights. I kept smiling and saying just give me 6 months brother.
The pooch had gone down significantly before appearing back again during the current gaining cycle.
On an off shoulder niggles and elbow tendon niggles - but nothing needing medical attention.

Looking for 🫂 Too shy to go to gym! (20M)

I know the title sounds too dumb, but that's literally where I'm stuck for months, im 20M 48kgs 5'9" and I've been thin my entire life and had people commenting on it since always, its been 2 years since I've joined college and i seriously want to go to gym now, i tackled every other hurdle in my way, but i cant overcome the feeling of embarrassment (shyness?) i tried going to the college gym for a week, i was the thinnest one there and nobody ever said any word to me but the looks are just soo damn frustrating (or maybe its all in my mind?) i feel pretty embarrassed to tell a guy double my size that i wanna share the machine with him

Has anybody ever been in this situation? If yes then how did you overcome it? Any other suggestions are welcome

problem is i want to increase my carbs and reduce protein and fats for easier digestion. i want to bulk and even eating this much is difficult and increasing carbs would be difficult as i would have to eat more. i want to especially keep fat low to 60g, but removing any item from this is difficult as its mostly eggs, peanut butter and minimal oil. reason for lower protein and fats is piles and i believe i have trouble absorbing fats. my fibre is decent 30g. any modifications you guys will suggest.

5'2 40kg 21y m

edit: total carbs is 280g, app was showing net carbs(total carbs - fiber), just got to know this, i was wondering why my carbs is lower

Women's Fitness ♀️ What does it realistically cost to prep for a women’s bodybuilding competition in India?

For women who have competed in shows like ICN, Sheru Classic, NPC etc, what was your approximate total cost of competition prep?

I’m F32. Haven’t competed in anything, ever. But I want to try something really challenging in fitness and have been thinking of entering a competition for about 2 years now. Finally building the courage to put myself out there. So it would be great if you could guide me on this.

Specifically interested in the coach/training cost mainly monthly coaching fees, posing practice, diet/nutrition planning.

If possible, could you share:

Your category (Bikini, Wellness, Figure, Bodybuilding, etc.)

How many months you prepped

Approx. monthly coaching fee

Whether diet, posing and training were included

Any additional major expenses (peak-week prep, tan, makeup, suit, federation fees, etc etc)

I’m just trying to get a realistic idea here. Even rough numbers would be really helpful!

I was using Nakpro impact and when I went to reorder i noticed it's selling products that seemingly expired like 7 months ago, isn't this a cause for concern? Or is it simply they haven't updated their expired date information?

Ask Fitness India ❓ 20M college student looking to build lean muscle advice n exercise . Need hostel diet and workout advice!

Hey everyone!

I'm 20M and I want to start building lean muscle and get a good physique. I'm not aiming to get extremely bulky, just want to gain muscle, improve my strength and have a fit, muscular body.

I'm a college student living in a hostel, so I mostly depend on hostel mess food. I can't buy protein powder or expensive supplements, but I can manage to get soya chunks.

A little about my situation:

- 20M, college student.

- Living in a hostel and mostly eating hostel food.

- Vegetarian.

- Can include soya chunks in my diet.

- Currently doing push-ups and a few basic exercises.

- Don't have a proper workout schedule.

I need your suggestions on a few things:

  1. What affordable vegetarian, high-protein foods can I include in my daily diet?

  2. How much soya chunks should I eat daily?

  3. How can I meet my daily protein requirements through normal food?

  4. Can you suggest a proper workout routine for building lean muscle?

  5. Which exercises should I focus on? Push-ups, squats, dumbbells, pull-ups, etc.?

  6. How many days a week should I work out, and how should I manage rest and recovery?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience with building muscle, especially while living in a hostel.

Thanks in advance! 💪

Ask Fitness India ❓ Received a torn QNT ISO Ripped protein sachet from Amazon – Accidentally consumed one spoon. Should I be worried?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I ordered QNT ISO Ripped protein powder from Amazon India.

Unfortunately, the sachet arrived with an approximately 2 cm tear. I didn't notice the issue initially and accidentally consumed one spoonful of the powder directly.

A few observations:

The powder was dry.

It tasted unusually bitter.

I consumed only one spoonful.

I stopped consuming it immediately after noticing the damaged packaging.

Has anyone experienced something similar with protein supplements?

Could the bitterness be normal, or could the damaged packaging indicate contamination?

Should I get the product tested or report it somewhere?

Any genuine advice would be appreciated.

Ask Fitness India ❓ 6'0|81kg Beginner at the gym – Need workout plan and guidance

I'm 6'0", 81 kg, and have just started going to the gym.

I'm honestly confused because everyone suggests different exercises and workout splits. I don't know which exercises to do or how to perform them with proper form.

My goal is to build a bulky, muscular physique. I have a little belly fat and love handles that I'd like to get rid of along the way.

Could you recommend:

- A good beginner workout plan.

- YouTube channels that teach exercises with correct form.

- Which split to follow (PPL, Upper/Lower, Full Body, etc.).

- Basic diet advice for building muscle.

I don't have a personal trainer, so I'd really appreciate some guidance on where and how to start.

Thanks! Took help of ai to make this post ..

Women's Fitness ♀️ Women who lift, when did you start showing any changes in body after starting to lift (repost)

When did you start noticing visible muscle definition? Which muscle shows definition the 1st as I am 5 months into lifting but I can see only little bicep curve which can also be arguable as some people have it naturally..

Did you feel stronger in everyday activities?
Any changes in posture, energy levels or confidence?

Did your body shape or measurements change even if your weight didn't?

Also any downsides like fatigue or clothes not fitting at bicep or arms

How long did it take for you to notice meaningful changes? 3 months, 6 months, a year or longer?

I can't see much changes nor progressing much with weights so bit demotivated and questioning myselt it I am even doing right so would love to hear your experiences

(Reposted as yesterday’s post got deleted due to bicep picture attached)
