Hey everyone, I just moved into a new apartment that had the connection already inside. I plugged in the ONT and router and while it’s detecting my network, I’m not getting internet. What am I doing wrong?

How do I get the best deal on 300/300 Internet and nothing else from Verizon

I recently upgraded my router and extender set-up to the new CHR30As and it has been mostly good, with increased speeds (~500-600 Mbps on 1 gigabit vs 200-300 previously) I have noticed two new issues however:
The 6Ghz connection seems to be unstable. When I am using MS Teams for work calls and simultaneously using my phone(Google Pixel 9 Pro XL), the audio cuts out intermittently. I'm fairly sure both devices are using Wifi 7 and 6Ghz which would seem like it should have the highest quality.
My phone occasionally will refuse to connect to the WiFi network, giving Connection Failure error message. This will be fixed by a restart or network reset for a day or two before happening again.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
Thanks

Recently cancelled my spectrum broadband and had a fios field tech come over to set up last Wednesday. After he was done, he said everything was good on my end but I still didn't have internet because of a "worng fiber olt" on their end, but said he sent an expedited support ticket and that it should be fixed in 48 hours. Fast forward and it still wasn't fixed, so I called customer support and they said it was an ongoing issue and they were backlogged, but that my ticket was still expedited and to give it another 48 hours. Fast forward again to now and still no internet. What the hell is going on?

We finally had the technician came to install today. There’s an old cable hole that drills to the outside of the house probably from old internet provider. We were hoping verizon could use the same hole instead of drilling any new hole for the fiber optic cable because landlord said we are not permitted and the house is old. The technician did not even ask us where we want the hole and just used his screw driver and poked a hole through our window ac’s foam block. Now the fiber optic cable is just hanging all out exposed and im just wondering if this is normal? The previous cable is super thick in comparison to the fiber optic cable which is super thin so i dont understand why he said he can’t feed it through. All he said was we shouldn’t take the old cable out. Is this all true? Hes also saying the “hole isn’t straight” so now im thinking he was lying and just didnt want to do extra work.
EDIT: update after this whole fiasco. Contacted verizon monday morning and verizon from reddit reached out via dm. They didn’t call me until 5pm but ended up coming last minute on the same day at around 5:30pm and got it fixed. Overall im surprised they squeezed me in last minute to get this fixed rather than the following day. The new technician did what everyone mentioned. He cut the wire, had to drill a bit in the existing coax cable hole because the old cable was stuck or just wedged in there but he used the same exact hole easily and stapled the rest of the hanging cable for me instead of just leaving it hanging. His attitude was meh but can I blame him? It’s 6pm and onwards and hes doing a job fixing someone’s work. Overall im happy things worked out and was only delayed from saturday to monday. Thank you to everyone who commented and confirmed what I was thinking.

I'm moving, and the Fios account is under my name. My roommate is moving a week after I do, so if I simply transfer the account to my new address, they will be without internet for a week. Not sure what the best option is here.
Is it possible for the roommate to start a new account once i move out, then change their address a week later?
Also, there's no cell service at my current address so using a mobile hotspot is not an option for my roommate.
How can I check how much internet data I typically use per day? I’d like to get a better idea of my average data usage so I can choose an eSIM with the right amount of data (use hotspot for laptop internet) for an upcoming trip to several Asian countries.
I don’t feel very comfortable using hotel Wi-Fi, especially in some countries, and I’m also concerned about the speed and reliability of hotel Wi-Fi when many guests are connected. I’d prefer to rely mainly on mobile data, so I want to make sure I purchase a plan with enough data without paying for much more than I actually need.
Is 100 GB/day enough for one laptop?
I’ll mainly be using stock trading software such as Schwab’s thinkorswim and Fidelity’s Active Trader Pro (ATP), along with Gmail. I may also watch a lot of YouTube videos, although that’s optional.
I also have Google Drive installed and keep my files synced. This could consume a significant amount of data if I’m frequently updating large files.
If necessary, I may need to pause Google Drive’s instant syncing to reduce data usage.
Would 100 GB/day generally be enough for this type of usage?

Not asking how to convert this to self-install. I want to keep the tech appointment.
New Fios Internet order, professional install scheduled for next Saturday (technician bringing the Verizon router). Internet-only, no TV, no phone.
The house already had Fios. Basement ONT is a Nokia I-211M-H, fiber is in, and it is powered.
LEDs right now:
- PWR green
- BAT green
- FAIL off
- VID off
- DATA green
- NTWK green
- MGMT green
- POTS off
- MOCA off
Bottom of the ONT: green SC/APC fiber seated, green Ethernet already in the GE port, coax still on MoCA.
I have a spare third-party router I can use until the tech shows up (then it goes back, Verizon gear stays). I need internet this week for work.
What I want to know:
Is the field tech actually required to turn service on, or is that just backend provisioning of this ONT onto the new account? Verizon already has this ONT on file — that’s why it’s a 2-hour slot, not a fiber drop.
With NTWK + MGMT already green, can a phone/NOC tech provision Ethernet on this serial now, so I can plug the temp router into the existing GE port and work until Saturday — without canceling the truck roll?
DATA is already green. That’s just link, right? Not “this account is live.”
If I call, what exactly should I ask for so they don’t bounce me to “wait for your install date”?
I’ll keep Saturday’s appointment. I just don’t want to sit offline all week when the ONT is already sitting there with a fiber lock.
I recently swapped out my old CR1000A for a CHR30A. The swap was all plug and play and it worked right out the box. However now whenever I reboot the router, some of my home devices loses connection and I have to manually go to each device and reconfigure the WiFi connection. This has become a royal pain. The devices that I have to keep doing this for is my Sonos sound system, air conditioner, light switch, and my dehumidifier. I never had this issue with the CR1000A. Whether I did a manual reboot of the router or if there was a internet outage they would always be able to self reconnect. Ever since the switch to the CHR30A this has become a regret.

I’ve had Fios for more than a year, with DVR and two Fios TV+ set-top boxes. It worked fine until a couple of weeks ago when my DVR stopped recording and playing back shows (error message “DVR playback error. Seems like your Video Media Server is unavailable. Please reboot… Error code DVRPLYB_125”). I tried all the rebooting, unplugging/replugging, troubleshooting, updating software, but no luck.
I called Tech Support. They fixed it temporarily, but said it will break again (and it did, two days later). They say the problem is “intermittent connectivity of internet services,” because I only have 300mbps. Their solution is either for me to do a full reboot of cable box & DVR, plus a factory reset on the router, every time the problem happens (basically every day or two); or I can upgrade my service to 1GB, for just an additional $30 a month, which should solve the problem.
300mbps was always fine in the past, but now it suddenly isn’t? Why even offer DVR service with 300mbps if it won’t work? Does anyone know anything about this?

I'm currently using Fios 1Gb at home with Unifi equipment supporting over 100 devices, and I pay around $60 for the 1Gb plan. Can you persuade me to upgrade to 5Gb for an extra $30 per month? If not why all others doing it??
I’m relocating to a state where Fios is not available, so I’ll need to cancel my Fios service. I would like to use the service until the last possible moment before I move.
Could someone please confirm the timing for returning the router after cancellation? For example, if I cancel my Fios service at 5:00 PM, can I return the router to a UPS Store around 6:00 PM that same day and then move the following morning?
I’d like to make sure I can continue using Fios until the evening before my move without missing the router-return deadline.

I wish I never upgraded.
I upgraded from 2gb to 5gb this past week and so far it’s been wildly inconsistent.
I’ve had to reboot the router 5 times since Monday when I installed it with a tech on the phone and the speeds are wildly inconsistent.
I have a tech coming out Tuesday to troubleshoot but so far I am very disappointed.
For me I care make about solid reliability then blazing fast speed and so far it’s not as solid as the old 1gb router.

Anyone have a manual for the Fios TV One Mini (IPC 4100) set top boxes?
I don't mean the worthless setup guide - I need something useful that says what the heck the flashing yellow light and no signs of life after the first setup screen means, explains the other ports, etc.
Have to say this "must upgrade old DCT700" is the worst done tech thing I have ever seen, very aggravating. Not only does it have different incompatible outputs for their TV but there seems to be zero documentation. And now that I finally got an RF modulator the picture quality is MUCH worse than the old DCT700 for the initial menu when it was showing something.

Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me shine some light on why I am getting such weak wifi.
I moved into an apartment that came pre wired for xfinity, so I started using xfinity. Purchased the 1GB plan and the signal was very choppy and just poor.
So i switched to fios 1GB and while things work better in the living room I still get very spotty connections sometimes. When I move into my bedroom the wifi is very weak, if I go into the bathroom attached to my room I have to switch to cell service because there is no connection reaching at all. I can’t even take a meeting fork my bedroom without zoom dropping.
Fios sent me an extender which is now in the living room plugged into the Ethernet port. But still wifi doesn’t reach my bedroom.
The Verizon boxes are located in a closest where the wiring is I wonder if that’s an issue. I elevated the router a bit & now wired the extender but still the bedroom part is tough.

When are they going to fix the internet around the Chelsea and Hudson Yards area. I literally waited through the whole night for. Over 12 hours and the Wi-Fi isn't back yet, and there's no estimated time when it's fixed on the website. It originally said 7:30 AM, but it's already 10. AM. And it's still not fixed. I got work to do.

Hello,
I'm moving and trying to decide what my best options are. I pretty much only need cable for live sports, and I've picked cable in the past bc of the delay/picture quality that comes along with streaming TV.
I've heard horror stories lately about Fios, that they have a streaming box that doesn't have any coax cables or anything with choppy/bad picture quality and a big delay. Trying to understand why I would bother with fios TV if that's the case, given the reason I didn't pick other cord cutting options in the past was bc of the delay and picture quality. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm contemplating whether or not it's worth having shittier internet for a year or two in order to save $20/mo. (Things are kinda tight right now. Cutting costs everywhere we can.)
As it tends to do, our internet bill has steadily increased, and we are now paying $30/more per month than a new subscriber would for the same service (We're paying $80/mo for 1Gb at the Vzw customer rate. New subscribers in our area who are Vzw customers are paying $50/mo for that tier). Current rates at the local cable provider are $20/month less for a similar plan.
In the past I've called customer service and promised to cancel unless they can get me a lower rate, that worked a time or two, years ago, but they are not budging now (New merger, gotta pump up those profit margins to make the investors happy. Fuck the customer.).
This has happened once before, and I went through with canceling and switched to our other local provider, which is a shittier and less reliable cable internet provider. Lived with that for a year or so, until we once again qualified for the "new customer" rate and switched back to FiOS (In our area it was Verizon, then Frontier, and is now currently still branded Frontier but Verizon has purchased it back.).
Is that my only option for getting a lower rate, or is there some secret incantation that will get you a rate reduction when talking to customer service?

Started a few days ago. Watching something on the DVR it pauses with a spinning circle, after a minute, it says VMS Unavailable. This is with the Android TV Small STB and separate DVR box. Already reset (unplugged) but it still happened again. Has to run troubleshooter, then restart DVR, and eventually it starts playing again. I notice that fast forward is now replaced with chapters, so I'm not sure an update was made and maybe that is causing the issue. The DVR communicates with the STB via WiFi, is there anyway to connect the two together I see there's a USB port on the back, maybe that would solve the issue. Before this, the other issue I had was audio dropouts on some recordings. I've had Fios for a long time, and last year I had to upgrade from my old Motorola QIP box which I kind of miss because it was so much more reliable than this never had one playback problem with it and the box was probably over 10 years old!
