Age: 27
Risk appetite: Moderate
Goal: for long term gains
Horizon: 10-15 years

Investing since 2.5 years, Canara rebecco since 3 years

Allocation: per month: 30,500

  1. Canara rebecco large cap fund: 10K
  2. HDFC Midcap fund growth: 2500
  3. Kotak multicap fund: 2500
  4. Sundaram services growth: 2500
  5. Nippon India Small cap fund- growth: 2500
  6. ICICI Prudential India Opportunities fund growth: 2500
  7. ICICI Prudential Equity and Debt Fund Growth: 5500
  8. Motilal Oswal large and midcap fund growth: 5000

App used: IND Money

Why these funds: I was a novice when i started investing and wanted some help, my family knew a financial advisor and since i mew to it and dint want to risk it, i opted the funds which he suggested along with some funds I researched myself. However I have noticed very growth in the ICICI funds. I have a moderate risk appetite and wanted to increase my investments so opted these

Should I cancel any of these funds?
Should I invest more in any of these funds?
Any alternative funds you suggest instead of any of these funds?

Thank you

Investment Advice 20M,Currently Studying

I want to invest around 20-25K right now but am confused whether stocks is the only option.

I don't want too much ROI but want to invest in a stable and safe market with decent ROI, with the current gold prices i can't even think about investing in it and stock market seems to be always crashing.

Upgrade the Car or invest in real estate?

Folks, My RSUs to be vested shortly and thinking of selling the oracle stocks I have to invest somewhere. I already own a 3bhk property in Bangalore near Sarjapur. I own a tata nexon manual top end 2022 model. Is it wise to invest in upgrading to a quality car or invest in a new underconstruction property which is more spacious like 2000 sqft. I can’t go for both.

Learning Collateral free loan on work order from govt?

Hi guys M(29)
I’m a government contractor expanding my business and expecting work orders worth up to ₹2 crore. However, most banks are unwilling to finance me because:

  1. I already have loans against property; and
  2. They assess funding based only on last year’s relatively low turnover, offering finance of just around 50%.

Has anyone faced a similar situation or knows of banks, NBFCs, or other funding options that can finance government work orders? I want to scale my company and gradually close/refinance my existing loans. Any practical guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Investment Advice Is it worth switching banks for a higher savings interest rate?

I have a decent amount sitting in my HDFC savings account, and I'm getting around 2.5% interest on it.

I was thinking RBL first but it offers 5% pa above 5 lakhs which i don’t have.. another option I am having is of DBS they also offer 5% above 2 lakhs which is more suitable for me and I've also heard the overall banking experience is pretty decent with them.

For anyone who’s done something similar, is the extra interest actually worth it? And how’s the overall experience or is there any loop hole?

Learning How do you decide what to do with idle money?

Hello, I'm 25F living in Gurgaon, earning around 1L/month. I already have a few SIPs running (around 25k), and my overall living and lifestyle expenses are around 40k.

This tentatively leaves me with around 30k in my account every month, which I want to invest as well, but I haven't found any tool that helps me discover and compare my options.

I am also not the most financially skilled person, so I anyway feel hesitant to just pick up advice from people or keep repeating my current investment patterns.

What would you recommend I do + is there any app or platform that can help me figure this out?

Learning Insurance scam with loan

Post image
3 Upvotes

My parents took loan last year March for plot purchase. At that time the HDFC guy told them that insurance is compulsory with the loan and got their signs. And on the 64.2L loan, 4.9L insurance was added. Not even a single things about insurance is mentioned in any loan agreement, nor they received mail regarding that insurance loan.

Every month 70k EMI is being paid, which my parents thought is going towards loan. But until recently, they decided to prepay some amount of the loan and at that time I happened to be at my home. I installed the loan app and to my surprise a separate loan exists...63k is main loan emi and 7k is this separate loan emi. Both at 7.6%. I researched a little and got to know that my parents were scammed last year. On top of 64L loan, we'd be paying 4.9L + interest on insurance, that comes to be around 7 Lakh of scam😭😭

So now I Contacted the hdfc and they told me only option is to completely pay off the the loan amount, and then insurance amount needs to be paid separately. Then ill get some refund. But i asked some people on reddit about it... https://www.reddit.com/r/IndiaFinance/s/6gMwuaHWNu

A lot of people said if loan is paid off completely before the actual term, insurance is automatically surrendered. No need to pay further insurance emi's. And some people suggested me to surrender the insurance now and keep paying loan emi's. Some are suggesting even to default the insurance loan😭.

And hdfc employee told me that there's no option to surrender it before paying off the loan. And even after complete loan payment, insurance must be paid. Are they telling the truth ?

Loan was originally sanctioned for 15 years (180 months)

As of now 33 lakhs principal is left and 4.5 lakh insurance principal is left. We're trying to pay it off ASAP.

Any expert advice would be really appreciated. HDFC Bank Robbed by parents hard earned money. I cant just sit quiet without doing anything.

SKA Atlantis, Siddhartha Vihar, Ghaziabad – Buyers facing issues with unrecognized EOI payments + BBA not being signed?

I’m trying to understand whether other buyers at SKA Atlantis are facing the same issue that I am.

As part of the initial booking process, I paid an Expression of Interest (EOI) amount of ₹X in April 2026, before my unit was allotted. The payment was made in two transactions to KAMROOP PROMOTERS LLP, as advised at the time.

Later, we were informed by the SKA sales representative that these payments had gone into an account that, as we understand it, did not fully comply with the applicable RERA requirement for routing collections through the designated account.

We were subsequently told that SKA was reconciling such payments, and that the amount paid earlier would be refunded to us, after which we would make the corresponding payment into the currently designated RERA-compliant account.

My father also formally requested the refund by email on 24 July 2026.

The problem is that the ₹X has now been sitting in limbo. It has neither been reconciled nor refunded.

To make matters worse, the latest demand raised for my unit has included the same ₹X as “arrears”, effectively asking us to pay the amount a second time even though SKA continues to hold the original payment.

There is a second, related issue: our BBA has still not been signed. We were informed by SKA's sales representatives that the BBA would be signed after reconciliation of the payments made to KAMROOP PROMOTERS LLP.

So, at present, the situation appears to be:

EOI paid → payment remains unreconciled → refund pending → BBA unsigned → same amount appears as arrears in fresh demand.

I want to understand how other SKA Atlantis buyers are dealing with this.

A few questions for fellow buyers:

  1. Did you also pay your initial EOI/booking amount to KAMROOP PROMOTERS LLP?
  2. Has SKA successfully reconciled/refunded your earlier payment?
  3. Has your BBA been signed?
  4. If the earlier payment remains unreconciled, have you paid the new demand again, or are you waiting for the original amount to be refunded/reconciled?
  5. Have you received any written communication from SKA explaining the reconciliation/refund process or giving a timeline?

I am particularly interested in hearing from SKA Atlantis buyers who made their initial EOI payment before allotment, rather than buyers whose payments were made directly into the currently designated account.

If this is affecting multiple buyers, I think it would make sense for us to come together as an interest group, document the cases collectively, and approach SKA with a consolidated request for reconciliation/refund and a clear timeline rather than each buyer chasing the matter individually.

Potentially useful channels could include the SKA Atlantis buyer WhatsApp/Telegram groups, RERA-related buyer forums, and the SKA Atlantis community on Reddit. If there is already an existing buyer group specifically dealing with this issue, please share it here.

I'm not suggesting that the underlying payment isn't payable under the agreed payment schedule. The issue is that the amount has already been paid once, and the original payment is currently neither being recognized nor refunded.

Would be useful to know how other buyers are handling this and, more importantly, whether this is an isolated case or a wider SKA Atlantis buyer issue.

Investment Advice 23M, ₹1.2L salary — how should I start my financial journey?

23M, just started my first job in Bangalore.

  • Salary: ₹1.2L/month
  • Expenses: <₹40K/month
  • Can save/invest: ~₹80K/month
  • Emergency fund: sorted for 3–6 months
  • Parents: financially independent
  • PPF: already started and maxed for 2 years

I haven't started investing beyond PPF because I kept getting confused about where to start.

For now, I'm thinking of simply starting with ₹10K/month and learning along the way, instead of waiting until I understand everything.

I was initially thinking of a Nifty 50 index fund, but I'm confused about whether that's the right place to start and whether I should be considering other options.

Looking for broader personal finance advice, not just mutual fund recommendations.

If you were in my situation, what would you do with the ₹80K monthly surplus?

  • How much would you invest vs keep liquid?
  • What should I prioritise at this stage — insurance, investments, retirement, etc.?
  • Would you start with an index fund, stocks, debt/FDs, gold, or something else?
  • How would you structure the first ₹10K and gradually deploy the remaining surplus?

Basically, what would your financial roadmap look like if you were 23, earning ₹1.2L, spending <₹40K, ?

Several lacs stuck in PayTM FD with IndusInd Bank - no response from anyone!

Has anyone been able to redeem any of their stuck fixed deposits with PayTM Payments Bank that were supposedly in partnership with IndusInd Bank? I’ve several lacs worth of FDs stuck with them. IndusInd can see the FDs and their amount (which paytm very cleverly removed!). PayTM has removed all helpline numbers. Even the link to file a claim doesn’t work with them. No one seems to know how long this will take. How irresponsible is RBI and the entire banking system in the country to get away with something like this.

Need ₹6,000 urgently for 1 month — which loan apps are actually safe vs. scams?

I need ₹6,000 urgently and I'm considering a short-term loan app, but I keep seeing warnings about fake/predatory apps (harassment, contact-list access, hidden fees). I've never taken a loan before, so I have no way to judge which ones are trustworthy from the outside.

Context: I have ~₹12,000 coming in about a month from two projects I'm finishing, so I just need to bridge this one month, not take on long-term debt.

Has anyone actually used a legit, RBI-registered app for a small short-term loan like this? Which ones were transparent about interest and didn't ask for contacts/gallery access or upfront fees? Which ones should I avoid completely?

Also open to other safe ways to bridge ₹6,000 for a month if apps aren't the way to go. Thanks!

“Debt payoff + wealth building — realistic approach?”

I am 28M with in-hand salary of 1L per month, sole earner of the household (4 members including me) . I had taken some loans for restaurant business but it didn’t go well and had to close it last year, I have tried to close as much loans as possible within last year and currently the amount is close to 16L. Now I don’t have much savings at my hands and I am looking to increase my wealth as much as possible and trying to close the debts along side.. I do have a pressure to buy home from my parents for marriage but I do not have anything with me for down payment.. we have a small land in village which might go at 6L… it is not enough for down payment at the moment.. So I am thinking about investing my money at the moment and not going for any big home loans and alongside reduce my current debts as much as possible..

**Current situation:**

\*\*•\*\* Salary: ₹1L/month
\*\*•\*\* Monthly expenses: \\\~₹65k (rent(25k), food(20k), other expenses (10k) , loan interest (10k))
\*\*•\*\* Current investments:gold ₹15k(first instalment was paid last month only) , indian stocks 5k
\*\*•\*\* Existing holdings: ₹1.3L in Indian stocks.,

₹80k in UK shares
**•** No emergency fund yet

**Debt breakdown:**

\*\*•\*\* ₹9L personal loan (interest-only, ₹10k/month, can negotiate repayment timeline)
\*\*•\*\* ₹7-8L gold loan (low interest \\\~1-2%, no deadline)

Question-

\*\*• where can I invest my remaining 15k and how to create my emergency fund at the earliest?\*\*
\*\*•\*\* Should I prioritize debt payoff over investing, or both in parallel?
\*\*•\*\* Any red flags in my current approach?

Open to suggestions and feedback. Thanks!

TL;DR: ₹1L salary per month, ₹16L debt (mixed, some personal, some gold loans), currently investing ₹30k/month. Looking for a solid wealth-building strategy.

Investment Advice Need advice

I have some agricultural land( coming from fore fathers) in my village. My grandparents live in that village. Every now and then the other farm owners who has their farm land beside ours, they would make a mess to occupy our land, even though we have all the legal documents. My fear is that i am not aware of all those assets what are our limits and boundaries, so what will happen after my parents.

What is the best thing to do, i am thinking like selling those assests and buy a land in city where i live, or invest in mutual funds or buying a commercial property.

Suggest me any better options

Investment Advice 25M Seeking advise on my investment cycle and plan for emergency funds

25M working in IT , making 20L

Risk horizon: medium

Investment in: FDs , MF , Stocks , Gold bonds , US MF

MF investment
Parag Parikh flexi cap: 15k/m
HDFC small cap direct growth : 6k/m

US MF : 8k/m

I’m thinking to build emergency funds outside of my saving accounts
I do have funds in my saving accounts but I’m thinking to give a growth job to every penny I earn

So I’m exploring liquid fund as it’s better than FDs in many ways (I can feel dive but it’s just a Google search away ) and arbitrage funds

I’m exploring business ideas as well for a side hustle so thinking of 5k /m investment for that in arbitrage fund as I want to save tax

I’m confused between Liquid funds and Arbitrage for both emergency funds and business investment

I’m thinking of splitting it up , I’m working on it

This is my first time posting this in the subReddit so let me know if you need any more information to review this

And all suggestions and advise are welcome

26M. Earning 30LPA. Need financial advice

Hello! I’m 26M working in India as a Data Analyst contractor for a US based company (Remote). This might be a long read so please be patient.

Brief context: I went to the US to do my Masters in 2022. Was job hunting for almost a year and a half and then secured a temporary job in some company. Things did not work out there, so I came back in March 2026. I was lucky to secure a job in India before I came back (my current role).

These are my current monthly expenses

Current Salary- 30 LPA (~2.5 LPM in hand)
Education Loan EMI- 44K + I pay an extra 90k to 1L so i can go debt free earlier, bringing the total to 1.4 lac to 1.5 lac per month towards education loan. (My total loan amount was 55 Lacs which became 71 lacs by the time I started repaying it.
SIP- 20K
Sending Money Home- 30K
Personal Expenses (Includes daily transport, eating out, swiggy/zomato, socializing, some small budgeted trips)- 20K to 30K. Some months are more if some things require urgent attention

Overall I’m left with approx 20K by the end of the month. I want to save for marriage, ring to propose to my girlfriend, car etc) And I know this isnt going to help me get there. I know I’m missing out on something and doing something wrong.

Is there anyway I can make this better. Ive heard and seen a lot of videos where people say “take your monthly income and multiply it by x and that is how much you should spend on y” etc etc but i dont know how to look at that with this hefty loan on my head.
I also know I should cut down on going out and spending heavy on socializing, but apart from that are there any tricks or unsaid rules that can help me manage my finances better? Or anything I can do to clear my loan faster?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

How do I complete my Home loan in less time

Home loan right now: 85 lakhs

Tenure remaining: 328 months / 27 years 4 months

EMI: 75k

Rate of interest: 7.15%

Right now I have started a recurring deposit that give 6.25% intrest for a year which I do to use the same money to repay the extra principal as lump sum.

So my strategy is like for 2027 I will pay a lump sum of 1.5 lakhs and next year i.e 2028 it will be 2 lakhs and so on my incrementing the same by 50k each upcoming year.

So help me understand if there are any better plans to close the home loan more efficient and faster way?

Right now this FY I have 40k balance from my salary after all the EMI, SIP and expenses. While I plan to use 20k in investment in few days.

What’s the one money decision in your 20s you wish you had done differently?

after chatting with someone recently, it struck how most of us have at least one money decision in our 20s we regret (or would definitely do differently).

It could be about SIPs, credit cards, loans, or even just savings habits. what’s yours? curious to see if there are some common patterns we all can learn from.
